    Ok the tripod being able to hold the rifle level has nothing to do with the tripod but more to do with the balance of the rifle. It will sag in the direction of the inbalance

      Jason Smith it is quality built. I like the fact that you don’t need a special mount on your gun for this system to work like many other Tripod systems. This allows you to use any gun you want without having to swap mounts.

    Definitely strange you keep cutting to the leg buttons while you’re adjusting the head and talking about the clamp. Like the look of the bipod, but the editing kinda made it look like you were “hiding” something that wasn’t working smoothly. Just my 2c as a consumer...

    Why keep cutting to the leg adjustments? Annoying when you’re talking about a certain feature and we’re trying to watch but you keep cutting to that.

    I’m with you wish it could be completely locked in place with the tension knobs. I’m gonna try in colder temps and guessing as cold usually stiffens things up might find more resistance to movement. Typically hunt in -20 to -30 so I’m guessing will lock up nicely.

    • @laynealexander2658
      @laynealexander2658 4 года назад

      @Brandon and Stacy Hunt at the beginning of the video it is locked in place horizontal and the heavier part of the rifle (the stock magazine and the chamber and the trigger) is the part hanging down which would be pulling it to the ground even more but it still locks in place

  • @walter992
    @walter992 3 года назад +2

    I bought one and it has one major drawback. No third axis adjustment so you cannot easily level your scope cross hairs. it must be done via the legs which is not quick nor ease when in an actual hunting situation.

    • @rich1958

      You get what you pay for. I paid $140 for mine. I don't know of similar product that is better for that price. If you do, please share. I'm not 100% happy with mine but I also don't want to spend more than I did either.

    • @joeperez8537
      @joeperez8537 Год назад

      Just loosen the vise jaws, level your rifle to level your cross hairs and tighten your rifle back up evenly, I do it all the time.

    • @walter992
      @walter992 Год назад +1

      @@joeperez8537 there is no horizontal adjustment on the head. It must be leveled by leg adjustments and that is a pain giving the level is located in the clamp.

    The holding head not strong enough to hold the rifle upwards. I wanted tripod with the strength for a rifle over 25 pounds. I picked up Night Stalker tripod with a holding weight up to 35 pounds weight. The tripod came with Pig Saddle holding unit, but the saddle has one bad figure, it bounced, no good. So, under the handguard, I attached Acre-Swiss systems, and it is steady, no bounce.

  • @_BigLife_

    I just picked one up and I'm having zero issues with it holding my hevy 308. I do think the pan is stiff, at least on mine.

    • @rich1958
      @rich1958 3 года назад +1

      I had bought 2 from amazon and both came in boxes that were obviously returned before. Both pan was stiff as hell. There is a small hex screw underneath... you have to remove the rubber round cover. I loosened a little and now pan is smooth. However, the adjustment to tighten is useless.

    I like this lighter concept and for the money this BOG seems like a winner at nearly half the weight.

      If you're using a reticle on an optic to calculate wind or drop then level matters more the further out you are shooting. Canting the weapon means that the built in upward angle of your barrel (or rather downward angle of your optic to angle your barrel up) is no longer compensating to fight gravity but is instead slinging the bullet off toward whatever side your rifle is canted to. Doesn't matter much at close ranges but the effect becomes amplified and difficult to compensate for the further out you go.

    I have NEVER encountered such piss poor customer "support" from a company in my 65 years on this planet as I have from BOG.
    I would think VERY seriously before buying one of these BOG DeathGrip tripods. Many forums complain about the leg clamps (6) breaking. They are made of pot metal and are NOT quality. Adding insult to injury.... BOG Customer "Support" will not even SELL you replacement part after the 1 year warranty expires. Which means that if your DeathGrip sits in your closet all year and breaks your first trip to the field..... YOU'RE FU*KED. So again..... think long and hard BEFORE you purchase from BOG. OH...BTW, the ONLY solution BOG offered me was to offer a discount on another DeathGrip. I told BOG Customer "Support" to....... well you can guess.
