Meet the Lidl Glider Advanced: a twin motor A-Tail RC conversion of the Lidl XL chuck glider that hits the stores usually this time of the year. I've been saving this foam for the last 3 years but it's finally here!
Twin booms are made from 6mm square carbon pipes. A-tail is made with laminated 3mm balsa. Everything else is held together with 3D printed parts: PET-G and lightweight PLA: eSun ePLA-LW.

Thanks for the reply Pawel ;-)
Love your enthusiasm man.
Sometimes the scratch- builds are better than high end PNPs. It's the love factor you can't buy. Grown man jumping with joy like a baby, awesome Paweł, awesome!
Well said!
It looked crazy resposive on elevator! Nice!
Haha! Loved how much fun you had flying your little plane. Lots of work so you enjoy it more! Looks like a good setup for long range/VTOL. Large pusher prop with low kV motor and that thing should fly for a very long time
I indeed had a lot of fun with it!
Wonderful Pawel, simple, cheap and modern....
Brilliant, so cool to see an excited Paweł
Thanks Andrew
Almost Bayraktar tb2 except of motor configuration! Great build!
Thanks!
It has been for a while since your last video about fixed wing.
Love it 😍
Yeah, I had a long break
Really cool and compact design. It may fit strapped on a backpack for trekking and exploration purposes. Thanks for the share.
Hell yeah this thing is cool. Makes me look forward to finally getting foam cutting down and making the delta (with rudder!) I am planning out.
That's pretty cool. I made my self a twin tracker 1800mm Skywalker... Trackers planes are pretty a blast to fly... So what next? Your airframe look a nice platform for a v-tol project :) maybe one day, inav will get this feature too, who knows ! Cheers from Quebec!
Never seen you so excited. You should fly more fixed wing
He he he, I might :)
Hi Pawer Great build. I just love it when a build works better than you first imagine. At first glance I thought it was a modified Goblin, Thanks again for the video
Cool, thanks
Nice build, Pawel ✈️👍
Thanks
This is, as you say Pawał..Awsome! I'm liking the twin motors rather than the single nose motor on the previous one much more. I have the same Lidl glider waitaing for conversion and likewise, considering a differential thrust conversion without the A-tail format. Great to see that flying and thanks for sharing!
Nice scrap recycling 😁
A buddy of mine also buys a bunch of them, each time they are available, and then does some experiments with them. Once I printed a fixture and tube for a 50 mm EDF for him, but it was not powerful enough to gain height.
Oh that's not bad. I would suggest the elite conscendo with DJI FPV. That thing fly's in any wind conditions...it's super stable. I've been on 20-25 kts and no problem. Plus you can do long range. It's the best plane on earth.
Fantastic, Pawel! Really well done!!! 😃
Looking forward to a FPV video from it!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Oh! It's there in the end!!! 😃
Nice. Cruise power appears to only pull 3-5A, so should be good for some longer cruising.
Did notice the GPS was taking a while to get a satellite lock.
Yeah, there is something wrong with the GPS, will have to check what's going on
Lidl gliders are the best, yet cheapest ones for modding. Still, they are probably perfect for FPV.
The lidl glider has been modded by so many people, come on lidl, release a version with control surfaces and pre moulded servo and motor points!
Doubt it would ever happen :)
@@FPVUniversity your right but we can hope! That said, every time i see someone on yourtube post a video of a modded lidl glider, i pop into lidl and search but my one never has them grrr
Congrats on the successful maiden. Great to see people having do much fun with the hobby. What's the all up weight?
No idea 😂
I've still got 3 gliders in the box. Just need the time and inspiration to do something with them. Too many projects!
I know the feeling. This one started as a concept 2 years ago, initial work was done in Juli 2021 and only now I finished it
That's awesome Pawel; you've inspired me to mod a Lidl Glider that I've had for some time. Is there any chance you'd be making the STL files available for the likes of me that's not that proficient with 3D design?
I'm not ususe I will release the files. Those are just some adhoc designs I used here and there, not a full conversion kit
@@FPVUniversity Understood; I need the practice in SketchUp anyway 😅.
Hi Pawel, could you please share information about motor, batteries and pro? Thank you in advance!
Hi! Did you printed servo holders (and other plastic stuff) on booms by yourself? Or how to google for similar? I personally mostly build twin-boom pushers and that solution looks cool. (Ye I read description too late). Is it possible to have plans?
Also, do your booms shakes a lot? In my plane with wooden booms (laths) I do not use any kind of strengthing for V-tail (half of V 150 mm chord * 220 mm "span"). Thought about it, but after test flights decided for myself that it pretty selfsufficient to damp any shackes and vibrations.
Sorry if I what I write looks a bit confusing. Hard a bit with English. Using term "V-tail" I meant inverted V-tail which you called as A-tail (not sure what is correct "scientific" way to call it).
My way to build planes looks much more unreliable, cheaper and as summary worse. :)

How's your horizon? No line on OSD, can't say how much it's drifting ;)
Osoom, Osoom :) thanks for the video :)
Most welcome 😊
Seems you landed 2m underground. Is this the INAV error or other reason?
That's just altitude drift. Normal as I was flying without GPS from time to time
I might make same design as this but use pusher setup 🤔
That also would make a lot of sense
So these are impossible to get in the states 🙈
0:09... I only see 2 motors.. Where is the third motor ?
I think I have misspelled. It should be Twin but sounds like three
Do you use diff thrust?
Not yet. That comes next
@@FPVUniversity 👍
Jeezzzz that music....
TB3?
nope :)
@@FPVUniversity should be 😁
