Hello India. Just some info for you. The guy singing Heaven's On Fire is Paul Stanley, the guy with the tongue sticking out is Gene Simmons. They started Kiss and literally (and I mean literally) sang and WROTE roughly 90% of Kiss' hits in the 70's. Then Kiss' popularity dipped in the early 80's for various reasons, including significant musical direction changes, member lineup changes etc. So in 1983 Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley (the aforementioned 2 members who started it all) decided to remove their trademark makeup and the resurgence started (Lick It Up went gold quickly and eventually platinum). This song came from the album Animalize in 1984 and was immediately a big hit on MTV and rock radio stations, Animalize quickly went Platinum and Kiss were off and running smoothly again. Their albums in the 80's continued to go Platinum routinely, and they were a fixture on MTV when their albums would be released. In the 90's grunge came in basically killed arena/classic rock, and although Kiss' albums were still going Gold they were having some difficulties again commercially, so Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley decided to re-unite the original lineup in 1996 with the makeup on. They've been going ever since 96' with the makeup back on, although it's not the original lineup currently and hasn't been for some time. The mainstays are and have always been Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley. It's always really been their group. There are a minority (yet very vocal) number of Kiss fans on the internet who will falsely argue different, but Gene Simmons & Paul Stanley have always been the overwhelming driving force behind Kiss. It's just the simple truth of the matter. They have always sang lead and wrote nearly all of Kiss' songs, and again they started the group. There's even a running joke among many Kiss fans that the initials stand for "Kiss Is Simmons Stanley". This is not meant to diminish the importance of the other 2 original members from the 70's, or anyone else who has been in Kiss', but it was really always Gene & Paul's band whether people like it or not.
@C J ...Very well said... So many people have this misconception that KISS really struggled w/o the makeup... truth is they consistently cranked out hit songs like this one thru the 80's and early 90's :):):)
Love Kiss!! Definitely one of the best live shows I've ever seen in concert. Especially when they had on all their makeup, lol. Can you please do a reaction to their song Forever, Beth, or Domino? Thanks for your reaction!! You're Awesome, and I love the hair!! 💜
They dispensed with the makeup when they needed a career boost after alienating a lot of fans by adopting a more pop-oriented sound. They tried a heavy metal album, but that didn't do the trick, so they took off the makeup for most of the 80s and 90s, eventually bringing it back when they got the original band back together
Your hair looks amazing like that :) yeah keep the KISS train rolling! You should check out their other videos Shandi,Talk to Me,All Hells Breakin Loose,Reason To Live,Turn On The Night and Who Wants To Be Lonely.
Kiss is one of the better theatrical bands ever. know this too that I'm not the biggest KISS fan by no means, I'm not really into that style of band anymore. they certainly aren't the most talented band out there but they never said they were or were trying to be. However they are indeed a great live show. I got to see them on their FIRST of several now "Farwell" tours in December of 2000. You need to listen to the live version. Try to get the 2000 farewell tour. when they played this song the place went nutts. This song and Rock N Roll All Night were the crowd favorites
I was a big fan of KISS as a boy in the 70's. Then, "Unmasked" happened and I(for the most part) lost interest. Then THIS song came out. Absolute fire: best song they ever recorded in my opinion.
Part of the KISS army since the 80s. I grew up listen to their 70s stuff, and they were just bad ass. I was disappointed when they went no makeup but they brought it back.....
Yeah, basically from 84 (or earlier?) to rest of the 80's they didn't have their facepaint on, but they did bring it back in 1996 I believe when they were reunited with their original drummer Peter Criss and guitar player Ace Frehley. Since then they still have their facepaint on, but they got another drummer and guitar player again, but they have then stayed in the band.
Been a monster KISS fan since I was 13 years old. (40 now) Got my first job at 16 so that I could chase em around on the reunion tour! You gotta check out Love Gun!!!
My good friend bought this record when it came out, we were in the 5th grade. We walked home from school everyday to his house and we would play this song over and over until dinner taking turns being Gene and Paul. I remember that like it was yesterday. Jumping off the bed like we were on stage. Good times.
That’s awesome! I remember me and my friends used to rock out to some of the more well known songs, like Detroit Rock City, and we’d have fun playing with sticks and pots as if we were the members lol
I observe that it is exactly the same on every even remote piece of land... :-) Your story is like through a photocopier with my story. My friend and I ran away from school listening to LP Lick it up, while jumping on his bed and his sister's bed, we almost demolished the children's room... :-) it was 12 years old and this is how we lived in communist Czechoslovakia in the middle of Europe. 😀
Found your channel yesterday, have now watched about 20 of your videos. Fun, engaging presentation. My fave Kiss song is Hide Your Heart, about a gang situation. Would love to hear you react to song and video.
This song is from the "Animalize" album 1984, hence all the animal print they were wearing. This album followed "Lick It Up." Now about you stopping the video. You did a really good job. You would stop it long enough to make one comment then get back to it. It didn't ruin the feel of the song at all. And this is coming from a major KISS fan. Keep up the reactions to there songs.
Need to react to them with the makeup on live. They always give their fans a show not a concert. Detroit rock city or Rock and Roll All Night are almost mandatory to listen or react to. KISS and AC/DC were never afraid to be singing and writing about sex drugs and rock and roll.
Fair point. Sex and rock and roll more than drugs. I was more a fan of their makeup years more than without, although their unplugged MTV performance was very good.
That as well as a KISS Konvention that had Peter and Ace performing helped plant the seeds for that reunion. I remember hearing about that quite well. If she wants to react to any of the Unplugged performances, I’d recommend A World Without Heroes, I Still Love You or Every Time I Look At You. I’d also include Beth, because that’s one of the first versions that I heard where the guys played the riffs, not a backing track.
If you are going to keep the unmasked era going, you should do any of the videos off of the Revenge album. 'Unholy', 'Domino', 'I Just Wanna', & 'God Gave Rock & Roll To You'. They have always been my favorite band!!!
Would love to see you Do ,Shandi,Forever and Evertime I look at you ..Keep up the amazing work!!!!I notice your Gene Simmons doll in the back is not there
wanna talk about naughty. there are some tunes from Gene Simmons the bass player who also sings. trust me, some of the kiss song from him on vocals will kind of shock you especially the 80's era kiss.
I wish someone would do a reaction to All Hell's Breaking Loose. I think its a kick ass song. But sadly nobody ever request it,they just requested the same old KISS songs that everyone else dose...
They're fun live. Gene (the demon) was in a movie called the runaway. When i would tell people that was him - don't realize how many people said i was crazy - till they seen the movie again and his name (didn't have internet back then). Now they know im not the crazy one.
I'm a long time fan of KISS. Love them or hate them an honest person must admit that they should have been inducted into the Hall Of Fame years before they were. That was bullshit!
the hall did so reluctantly and were none too crazy about inducting them. it was like, Ok, let them on so their fans can shut up and leave alone for heaven's sake.
Never really got into KISS after the Love Gun LP, but for their particular body of work for that time, this isn't bad. I will say their early stuff will punch you in the face with it's heaviness (Deuce, Cold Gin, Watchin You, Strutter, Black Diamond, Parasite, etc). Arguably, the most "garage band" covered group in history. I do gotta say their stage show has no peers. Whether it was '77 (first live show I ever saw) or '97...pure spectacle.
@@stardemonspacecat I'll damn sure not dispute that...KISS is worth going to see simply for the stage show...even if you're not into that type of music. First live show I ever saw. Destroyer Tour...I was twelve lol...scarred for life.
