    I had the pleasure of handing over a lot of money in exchange for a bit of injection moulded plastic. It has calmed my crank seal leak, so worth doing despite the premium LR charge for the part. Easy enough to fit.

    Remember doing that job well! 😱 We also replaced it on the other Freelander 2 we had at the time, even though it had no symptoms of the PCV starting to fail. Good video! 🎥

      Thanks! Did you see the comments on here about yours. Any idea how yours blocked up? The diaphragm and spring are very soft.

      ​@@BeavisPits We have, wish we had concrete answer though! It's such a mystery as to why it would fail. The only thing we could think was that the diaphragms just fail somehow but how we don't know. We did contact 3 different independent Land Rover specialists and they all advised to replace it, especially if never changed. Such a mystery!

      She was too busy fiercely defending her territory against the two cats in no.28. There was a stand-off for most of this video finally ending in a loud cat fight as she took them both on at once. Luckily no cats were injured during the making of this film.

    That PCV diaphragm is very important if it doesn't close when turbo is sucking, then it could lead to a "Runaway diesel engine" It will start sucking all oil out of engine and actually running on it, even after you turn off the engine. Just search the term "runaway diesel"

      I know what a runaway diesel is. Had it once with an old Defender. It is usually caused by internal turbo oil seal failure. LR ditched the diaphragm on some models so can’t be that important, but I can see how it could lead to excessive oil mist being drawn up by the engine, potentially causing a runaway. Interesting thought, I’ll mention this is an upcoming video.

    I have never understood why Landrover made the PCV part of the housing and not a seperate /bolt on part that could easily be changed and of course a lot cheaper

      @@johnnodge4327 yes you can tell that as the oil filter is so easy to get too and change as well😁

    Разбирал этот узел, мыл, менял диафрагму, все равно кидает масло во впускной коллектор. Прокладки конечно под замену, они стали пластиковые.

      Only one of them. The other two are unused and can be removed.

      @@BeavisPits thank you - i just purchaesd on off ebay for £10 and a new diphram valve to see if its possible to replace without removing the whole unit.

      @@danaveye3977 seemed to work no problem. i just practiced priding the cap off, and fitting it back together, and then went ahead and tried the real thing. so far so good

      As I remarked to Frenchies, replacing the whole unit would best be avoided due to the process being a pain in the dyck

    The whole oil separation system on this 2.2 engine is just awful. I believe ita meant to separate the top end cam cover fumes, and the oil is supposed to drain back into the head. The part is called the upper cam cover I think. Its in haynes. They just fill with sludge and then clog the breather system. I siggest you soak it in diesel for a couple of days. Breaks up all the lumps of sludge and carbon inside. I soaked the whole engine for 24hours. Cleared her right up

      Oddly enough, the back hole on your cover, I dont remember seeing that on my cover (2008) is this from a newer model?

      Are you sure it's not dripping down from the intake pipe join above?
