    So awesome to see this video now. I was exploring the park last week!
    We decided not to do camp 4, it was a bit too crowded we wanted to find something a bit more private. Some amazing hikes! Went camping and it went below freezing at 9,000 feet.
    Now in Bangkok though so so much warmer! 😊

    very helpful video! helps get familiarize with the process. However, in my experience, I didnt even a camp site at all when i was here in first week of Oct 2019. There were over 20 People were "camping" at the Kiosk just to enter the lottery to get a camp. This happened both nights was i was there and the line already started at 7PM. Only a handful of campsite were available each morning. I also learned that Camp 4 is popular and very hard to get a camp site because its rock climbers popular spots. I was by myself so I had no problem just sleeping in my 4runner. The ranger came knocking but he was nice enough to let me stay in my car overnight as long as all food and toiletry supplies were stored in bear locker. Going back in December and hoping to find another walk-in camp with no reservation required.

    Hot Yosemite Tip... Winter Season... more or less any time between Labor day in Fall till Easter in Spring Is virtually empty during the week. Weekends fill up a lot more, but never as bad as it always is in Summer. Tip number 2... A lot of the most spectacular photo's you have ever seen of Yosemite were taken in winter season. It's beautiful to have that park all to yourself, in winter.

    April thru Sept there is no overflow parking across the street...the only parking for camp 4 is in the camp 4 parking lot...that is why the Ranger issues you a car pass when you register. The parking across the street from camp 4 is day use parking for Lower Yosemite Falls, no parking after midnight.

    Thank you for the informational tour on registration and seasons at Camp 4 at Yosemite National Park.
    What is it like waking up in Yosemite, a beautiful experience, deep breathing of pure air?
    You sound so relaxed and fluid in your speech, the oxygen levels in the park must be the best in the U.S.A..
    Do you dream more while sleeping in the park?

    I hope you have a fun at Yosemite, enjoying the great outdoors is HoBo True. You look great, relaxed, refreshed, and happy; It's great seeing your bright eyes, your light spirit, and your joy for life.
    Do you have bear spray? I'm worrying now! "Bear-lockers??? I guess their intended to store food so bears cannot get the food. I hope they are smell-proof also, so bears and mountain lions cannot smell the supplies. Maybe I'm just worrying too much.
    Have fun,

    Yosemite over the winter?, you will get dumped on with snow. Like over your head high. And in a tent, uuuufffff. Make sure you have a backup shelter plan w a heat source, a backup food/cooking plan. Sometimes the road is closed for quite a few days/weeks. Bears will be a huge issue.

  • @itsmiz6737

    Great info for 1st time campers to Yosemite - particularly since any cabin (don't even ask about the hotel, it's ridiculously expensive) is $100 ish a night during Winter season + 2/3months advance booking. Side note/comment: the way RUclips processes sound makes the verbal audio softer, and JOLTS the music and beat so much that w/earbuds it's startling and a bit painful. Maybe you can normalize the decibals? Cheers 🤗

    jesus, why is everyone's tent right next to each other. i mean the whole point of camping is to get away and enjoy nature. you should come to canada, where the provincial/national park camping is far away from each other

      Tony Cao I was thinking the same thing

    • @timb6985
      @timb6985 6 лет назад +3

      Absolutely! Some people view camping as just a change of venue for a party or sleep over. Others view it is a chance to get away from people and civilization and commune with nature. Pitching a tent on dirt surrounded by 20 other tents does not feel like nature to me. But that is just one person's opinion and everyone has their own personal opinion about camping.

    • @ricksmith4201

      thats a big climbing camp in Yosemite. There is a lot of climbing around that camp so usually people go there just to be really close to the boulders and walls. Theres even a boulder with a couple problems right in the camp.

    • @jamalive
      @jamalive 6 лет назад +6

      If you have never been here, you would not understand this climbing cluster. It is a whole culture. Also, there is not very much room since there is a humongous granite wall (and other cool granite domes all over). There are many climbers that actually work part time in the park and then climb the other times. IT is unique in itself. There is a LOT of open camping areas in California that we know that are free....yes FREE that one can totally get away and have a fantastic wilderness experience but Yosemite is a special place. Tony -- there is lots of places to get away from others and Camp 4 is not really one of those. Chalk on the wall is part of camp 4.

    Love Yosemite but camping sucks. The spaces are so small you can’t park two cars at your site and then fit 3/5 tents on your site 😔. My family said never again will we camp there. We prefer kings canyon huge sites or the camp sites off the known road. But Yosemite is still awesome to visit.
