  • If you are ready to start planning your camping trip to Yosemite National Park and want to know how to get your perfect campsite, then you are in the right place!
Yosemite is one of the hardest national parks to obtain a campsite in. The park has 13 front-country campgrounds throughout all areas, including Yosemite Valley, Wawona, and the Tioga Road.
Yosemite Valley is by far the most popular area of the park, and therefore, it is the most competitive area to obtain a campsite. I will be sure to give you all the information you need and walk you through how to obtain a campsite in Yosemite National Park.

Just when I was looking at reservations, you upload! I got lucky with three nights at Wawona…it was easier getting five-star dinner reservations in Manhattan than a spot in Yosemite. Crazy. 😁

Haha, my climbing buddy used to get up at 4 am and drive from Mammoth to get us a site at Camp 4. What's really nice there is it's very international. You hear neighbors speaking German, French, Spanish, Rusian around the camp fire and can make friends and trade weird stories. It's the best camp site if you are a climber.

Ooooh that's awesome! It's such a unique setup...I'll bet you make some new friends each time you stay there!

None of the campgrounds you mention are on the website. We have a reservation in Grant campground. It doesn't list a specific site? We are driving from Mt Rusmore.

I'm planning to grab a spot at White Wolf campground for 5 nights in late July. Any tips for grabbing a spot there in particular?

Nope, same process! Be there right when it opens, do your homework beforehand, and have every adult who will be camping with you make an account and try to snatch something up!

It totally depends on what I'm planning to do during my trip, but if I don't need to be in the valley, I prefer somewhere like Hodgdon Meadow, Crane Flat, or Tamarack Flat usually!
