  • Budget parts - Hunting in a Salvage yard
One of the most frustrating things that can happen when you are building a project is finding out the parts you need are no longer available. This can usually bring the project to a screeching halt! But all is not lost because there is another option and Stacey walks you through the ins and outs of hunting for those elusive parts in a salvage yard. After that, it’s back to the shop where Stacey shows you how to restore those old, rag-tag parts that you find. It’s auto recycling at its best, and with today’s economy, it’s also a smart thing to do!

Way back in the 80's, had a buddy that discovered that the boneyards were selling water pumps for $2. He thought he had struck the motherlode, and thought I was an idiot for telling him that he should go spend the money for a new/rebuilt pump. .....I The third pump he installed on that truck THAT WEEK was a new/rebuilt from the store. Boneyards are great for non-moving parts, but there's a time and place to spend a little more.

I still tell people to this day the junkyard is where you want to go when you don't want to pay full price or money's tight and especially on those parts that are discontinued I miss the days of growing up as a kid running around the junkyards and you never know sometimes there are hidden treasures not the snakes and spiders and critters LOL have a great one man I love the show ♥️💪🏾💪🏾👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽😎👊🏽💨💥🌍🤟🏽🤟🏽

The shelves, drawers and cabinets in my work van all came out of yards, total around a hundred for stuff that would have cost 4 grand new.

Have you looked into universal kits? Several companies make them, including our friends at Steele Rubber.

The floor was completely gone. This was filmed several years ago, but it might've been worth taking the whole thing if it was more recent.

Junk yards don't usually sell complete parts vehicles. Unless it's sold one part at a time. Cuts into the profit.
