- Ladder Bar System Install on Hot Rod & Test Drive
If you’ve been around cars and trucks very long, you know that vintage, nostalgia, and rat rods are very popular. The question is, how do you make a nostalgia-style car with leaf springs hook up like a modern drag car but not lose the vintage look? Simple… you install a ladder bar system! But how do you keep the leaf springs from binding you ask? Ah... there is a special way to do it, and if you want to find out what it is …you need to catch this episode of GEARZ. Then it’s out on the road to test it out as Stacey shows you just how much fun you can have with a nostalgia-style vehicle. Would somebody please bail him out of jail?!? - Авто/Мото
Sure am glad that I can watch you here instead of just a 3min blurp. Some day soon I'll be starting a project on my '70 Dodge Power Wagon 4dr 4x4 and I'll definitely show you the progress of it.
My uncles got a 40s dodge army type short bed reg cab he's Gunna slap it on a 3500 chassis from 1989, keep it looking rusty an make a Rod Dodge.
The bed weights like 18000 lbs I swear to geebus!
So happy that these are on YT now! This is my new favorite channel.
I agree!
I had my eyes on a truck just like this for many years now. Way before Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico.
Finally got the chance of an up-close look a few months ago taking the detour to it after the COVID pandemic started to die down and finding the property owner. I had visions of a late Dodge Ram pickup frame with a Mercedes-Benz OM606 turbodiesel swap for it, but the body was rusted out beyond repair, which was sad. We swapped stories about it, and the owner of the pickup lives in the States and plan to get the bed brought for his trucks at home.
It was nice to see that it had the Slant Six and a four speed. That may be of use later if I plan to do a flip of some sort of project.
It was the only truck of its kind I've ever seen in person.
Thanks for this video, I've been looking all over for a video that shows the install of the Competition Engineering 2030 sliders.
Glad you found it!
You are one knowledgeable guy….stay safe …..greetings from down under Australia…
When I was discharged from the marines I bought a 1964 D-100 short bed fleet side ex navy issue with the unkillable slant six I sure do miss that old three on the tree
I do love this truck! Thanks for showing this suspension. I think it'll be perfect for my next project.
The original wheels put back on would make it a sweet sleeper
I don't think it's gonna be much of a sleeper with that exhaust system
That is one sweet ass DODGE I love the truck
My dad ran two pistol grip shifters in his ‘77 Power Wagon. Used the longer shifter arm from the B-body cars for the transmission stick and used a shifter from an E-body for the transfer case.
I thought it was one of the coolest parts of his truck, next to the sound of that monster 440 and the 44” tires. Best part is he still has them. And as a gift he gave me the shorter one for the transfer case to run in my (newly acquired) ‘78 Power Wagon (it’s an automatic ☹️ tho).
At 2:51, the whole truck was shaking a tad from that 526 Hemi.
That's a sweet looking truck Stacey David I would do the same thing going around making all kinds of noise's I can in public and out in the back roads
Where do the shocks go now? You don't need them anymore?
Mind if I rename that truck Aneurysm? A big block like that has got to cause a brain bleed - from smiling alone!
Hi that is one Bad bleep truck
Very Kool. Big Daddy Ross wouldamai this look Kool.
Wouldn't a bar with him joints, bolted to the axle on one then to frame in the opposite side be better to keep the axle steady in the side to side play?
Yes it would help. A watts link is very good at doing that.
Part of the appeal of leaf springs is that you don't need that
Edit . I commented before I saw what he was doing with the springs

Is there concern about that long shifter having too long of a throw and or leverage, especially when you'er at the strip.
The chiropractor though 😅😅
I thought that pistol grip shifter looked better.
Sweeet👍👍
Stacey David's kill count at the chiropractor: 1
So far...
But.....I thought that traction bars came out in the 60's
its like a Christine truck.... soooo bad!!!!
Lowrider foo
Please stop the incessant, inane chuckling.
