Aplogies for the few audio issues in this one! We felt there was enough ok parts to still upload!
It was fine.No worries 👍
You to need to look into the us government for one of your videos
Love Millie being in charge ‼️🥂
I’d love to see your reactions to Groundhog Day which is February 2nd every year. There’s an event every year in Punxsutawney, PA which is the main groundhog everyone tends to report on. I don’t want to give away too much and apologies if you’ve already done this video and I missed it, but just one of the more quirky holidays we have in the US and thought it’d be interesting to see what you guys think. 🙂
Could you react to NF how could you leave us? 😁
i've helped four people with their English and pass their citizenship test. All of them breezed through the test but two were scared stiff beforehand. It was a great pleasure and honor and I made some lifelong friends. They were from Brazil, Pakistan and Russia. They all love America and love being here.
I would love to do that but the only language I can speak well is French even though my step mom is from Puerto Rico and so are my step siblings. It's funny because Puerto Ricans speak Spanish faster than anybody and I can understand them most of the time and I can speak to them in a little casual conversation but I'm not fluent at all and I can't write it.
For this being her first time and considering she hasn’t watched as many US-related videos to this point, Millie actually did really good!
?
Yea but she also didn’t believe penguins existed at one point
@@SwiftEC360 thats oddly cute
Not at all.
Or studied World War I and World War II history the British actually waged war with America. Even her island of Jersey was captured by the Germans...
The Secretary of State is comparable to your Foreign Secretary. You did very well for folks who are not Americans.
And the Speaker of the House is similar to the British Prime Minister, leader of the majority party in the House of Representatives or the House of Commons...
@@ronclark9724 Except that the British prime minister is a member of the legislative (parliament) while also holding executive power as the head of the government. Because there is a strict separation of powers in the US government, that could not happen here. The Speaker of the House is leader of the House of Representatives, but has no executive power.
@@ronclark9724 No, in England the is a Speaker of the House of Commons that equates to the Speaker of the House.
We will take Millie anyway. She must promise to study up on America and our Constitutional Republic
Shes more of a patriotic American than many I know.
If she had not made the mistake about Italian Fascists in WWII, she would have made the grade.
Same!! It's a shame, how many Americans don't know anything about America!
I'm a lawyer and thank you so very much for calling the United States a constitutional republic because I get so sick and tired of hearing Democrat politicians calling America a democracy
😀😀 Some people say we are a federal Republic but actually we are not because our US Constitution was written in such a way that we were supposed to have a very small and limited federal government and our states are supposed to basically handle more of the rules and regulations pertaining to society and daily lives but people are allowed to have our freedoms as long as we abide by the law.. over the past 120 years or so it seems like our federal government has gotten bigger and better and it's just been downright big fat and bloated since about 1960 and getting worse.
.
.
@@montrelouisebohon-harris7023 absolutely! We're a constitutional Republic, where the rights of the individual are put above the rights of the many (in a democracy, it's majority rules over individual rights).
@@GenXfrom75 also every democratic society has failed
As an American citizen, I was relieved that I knew the correct answer for all these questions. You both did well. Better than I could ever do on a UK test. 🇬🇧
I agree. They are such good sports to take this test not being citizens!
@Delia Sewell.
Amen. Now I am scared to death of a UK Citizenship test. I have no idea who the current Prime Minister is. And I can only remember 3 previous ones. I can't name members of the Queen's family. I can remember certain individuals like Cromwell but can't remember what they did. I can't differentiate between real life individuals and fictitious characters. I think Sherlock Holmes is a character but Agatha Christie was real. And I have no time line for Wimbledon champions.
"I am actually a genius! It's actually scaring me a little bit how much of a genius I am!" lol, I just love her!
The world War 2 one broke my heart. America and England were literally allies fighting against three main axis countries😂 how did you not get that one of all of them?
That one is actually a deceptive question. The Italian people welcomed the allied troops as liberators and the US viewed Russia as a clear enemy (they were allies in name only, really) as both sides marched towards Berlin and Russia was annexing everything they could. So, yes the textbook answer is Russia because they were one of the Allied powers, but just before the end of the war allegiances changed.
@@karlries2854 Yep! Despite being reluctantly allied with Stalin and supporting the war on the eastern front via Lend-Lease, the US (and UK) was very wary of Stalin, especially after the Tehran, Yalta, and Potsdam Conferences as the war began to draw to a close (there was the whole business about Truman deciding to proceed with the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in part as a show of force to keep Stalin from interfering in the Pacific theater, as well as Patton wanting to continue pushing eastward beyond Berlin because of his distrust of the Red Army, etc.) It’s also a trick question due to semantics-“Russia” didn’t exist at the time, but the Soviet Union did.
@Gail Everett I mean I'm 24 so I feel like that's not completely fair
@Alexi marchenko Even if that passionate, at best, opinion (spiteful at worst), were true, those two things are not mutually exclusive. They could be turncoats and welcome the Allies as liberators. But I'm hesitant to call them turncoats since Italian participation with the Axis was top down. Any favor towards the war early on by the people I would argue to be mob mentality, but the view changed quickly as things progressed. I would support your opinion if it's towards Mussolini's government and military command, but not if it includes the general population.
@Gail Everett yeah it not like British learn about American history
It is so nice to see others not talking the US down! Thank you for finding the gems about the US!
Miranda rights are given to arrestees.
no its only young Americans that talk down about America most other countries want to came here
It’s ok, Millie. Lindsey Graham has let all of us down.
Agreed bigly.
Also, the 2019? 1919? Nancy Pelosi has been the Speaker of the House for aeons.
FACT!
Ms Lindsey can never pick a lane
Graham has a forked tongue
You should react to the Constitution for sure. It is the greatest document in Americam history and is a brilliant document. To know the Constitution and Bill of Rights (first ten amendments) is to know America.
It's largely based off the British Magna-Carta.
First ten amendments* aka bill of rights 🇺🇲🍻
I laughed soooo hard when Millie called the Speaker of the House a receptionist!
For our foreign friends: Nancy Pelosi is our current Speaker & she is a very rich, powerful & ruthless politician. Her nephew is the California governer.
It's even funnier when you remember that there's a high ranking position in the UK House of Commons called "Speaker of the House". I mean it's not like the title is unique to the US.
She won't be Speaker of the House for long, as the Republicans are going to take over the House and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections.
I died! Then she called her a Karen 😂😂
Well Nancy Pelosi shouldn't be trusted as a receptionist or a speaker of the house lol.. Shes corrupted as heck.
@@mikewrasman5103 So anticipating that day, thinking time is moving too slow till that next election. Doesn't it seem time has slowed down to a crawl since this administration has cheated their way in? Lol. Can't wait till Nov!!!! 💃😉🙏💯🙏 but one thing, in my opinion, they need jerked out of there now by the hair, lol, isn't that what receptionist Nancy said of President Trump? 🤣 She's gone hopefully. They going to take as much as they can before they get booted, Like Oslima did with our Uranium?
You did a good job! Many Americans wouldn't do as well as you both did!! Keep the videos coming.
Many Americans can't get their heads out of a dorrito bag to want to learn anything let alone care about something so important.
I'm an American and do not like my government but I do love my country .
Fun Fact- Vermont has a town that was surveyed incorrectly and after it was corrected the town now is divided into 2 countries US/Canada. There is a building that actually is in both countries and has a line painted inside to divide them.
Florida was a Spanish colony when the original 13 states came together to form the US.
And Florida was discovered by the Spanish way before the English discovered the others.
St Augustine FL is the oldest city in the USA founded in 1565
LOL @ "Sorry the President can't come to the phone right now, this is the Speaker of the House." That had me in tears.
Regarding one of the questions, individual states are allowed to create their own armies, and currently, 25 states have their own defense force. They operate like reserve units and sometimes train alongside the National Guard. During WWII, North Carolina (my state) assembled it's own defense force of 35,000 men to guard factories and repel a theoretical invasion.
Well yes and no . is an SDF really an army ? I mean really they are more like civilian support corp for the national guard. You know what i mean. I do agree though that the question needs to either be removed from the test or that answer needs to be replaced with something else that isnt within the states rights . good catch though .
I have never heard of that.
@Alexi marchenko State militias are different, as they are created and governed by the state, and not just some random biker dude, or something.
The Federal Government can raise a full time standing army. State National Guards, State Defense Forces, and State Militias are part-time reserve units which can be called up to active duty in time of war (National Guard) or used as a sort of Home Guard.
Miranda rights when being arrested. Right to remain silent, anything you say can be used against you in court, right to attorney. There’s more to it, that’s all I can remember
Yes miranda rights is the word!
Those relate to the 5th Amendment, not the first. The first are freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom to petition the government to address grievances.
@@zuzax1656 I’m well aware of that. They mentioned what is said when arrested so I helped them out with the Miranda rights.
@@brandonwatson3631 My apologies, Brandon. I misunderstood what you were answering to. But, hopefully, they'll understand a bit more of both amendments, now.
@@zuzax1656 no worries.. just wanted to clarify what I meant.. and to help our brit friends out as well
20 for 20. Born & raised in the USA. Some of those questions I would never expect a foreigner to know the answers, like "Who is the current Speaker of the House...?" or "How many are in the House of Rep...?" (paraphrasing for brevity) so I thought you did quite well, especially considering you didn't study beforehand. 👍🖖🦓
My mom, who immigrated to the US from Canada, said that (at least at the time she was naturalized) immigrants often know mor abut the governmental systems in the US work than natives do. I'm sure that, if Millie went through the classes necessary before taking the Citizenship test, she'd do splendidly. And congrats on knowing these things. I'll pretty consistently miss one. Most recent public high school grads, for example, fail miserably because the current high school curricula in US History and Civics seem to consist of "Never forget, they owned lots of slaves".
But she was just one answer away from full citizenship... That World War II question would have done the trick...
umm they are suppose to study before taking it, so they should know it. What amazes me is how many supposed citizens we have that can't even speak English.
@@almyska467 I have a friend who was an Air Force brat, his mom is/was British. She is now a US citizen (maybe dual citizenship, not sure) and is arguably more patriotic (about USA) than most natural born US citizens. With right hand over her heart she stands for every performance of the National Anthem and throws dagger eyes at any and all who are not on their feet with hand over heart as well.
In my humble opinion, the biggest problem with the public education system here in the US is it's inability to get students to want to learn. Anything in the world that grabs your attention you will want to learn all you can about it. This means the vast majority of people are capable of learning a great deal about any subject. We simply need to find a way to grab every student's attention, interest and imagination for each subject. I had very few teachers with that ability. Unfortunately, today boys are taught the same way girls are which is the way in which girls learn/perform better. I could spend hours in this but I need to sleep.
@@renaissanceman7145 Yeah, that's been my experience as well.
Korean War was 1950-1953, and the Spanish-American War was in 1898. And I'm now following Alexander Hamsterton!
I just took the quiz on HeyWise, and I live in America so I’m proud of my results:
34 of 50 “You’re no politician, but you are a patriot”
You guys did really well! I taught U.S Government for 32 years and I wish my American students at the start of the course did as well as you! Both of you are great ambassadors for Great Britain. Also, I took a DNA test and out my ancestors came from Great Britain and Ireland. Have you ever heard of Croydon? Is there still such a place? I really enjoy your videos, please don't stop making them. I have subscribed to your channel.
The Speaker of the House is the one in charge of running the ENTIRE House of Representatives. It is the third highest position in the Executive branch. Pres, Vice-Pres, Speaker
Best part of the entire video….Millie announcing “I am actually a genius” lol!! I love you both, keep up the great content!
Good for y'all. Even your wrong answers are smart and thoughtful.
The Electoral College = 538, one for each representative and each senator. There are 435 total Representatives that are redistributed every 10 years based on the percent of the population each state has. Add 2 senators per state for 535, and the people in DC get 3 electoral votes for president (but no vote in Congress).
What are those poor bears gonna do without their arms? It's just wrong. lol
I know you guys are really wanting to learn about the US and what it is all about. My mother got me interested in UK history at very young age and I never turned back. Your history as a country is so vast and beautiful. Love you guys. Much love from Tennessee.
No matter what happens, we are always team Millie.

I was literally imagining Nancy Pelosi answering the phone as the receptionist! Lol.
A very good video. I think you both did well. Speaking as an American, I'm suspicious that many of my fellow citizens would not do as well as the two of you did on this test. I love to see people that are curious and always learning more about different subjects (probably the teacher in me). Have a great day.
I agree! I think it's sad that after high school unless it's learning a job so many people don't care about continuing to learn.
9:00 there are 50 states. And the secretary of the state represents the entirety of the US, not just one individual state. But the 3rd in line to be president is the speaker of the house.
as a history guy, i was SCREAMING. millie would pass my citizenship class out of pity and slight knowledge. and just because she deserves to be a citizen. you too, bees, but she blew you out of the water.
when she said france overtook italy in ww2 i fell to my knees
Lolol, I found that hilarious too… France didn’t help us liberate France. Hahahaha
When my wife took the test a few months ago, she got all of them correct. Though you can go online and study the questions over and over for free. Sadly most Americans can't pass the test. Side note, wifes a citizen now.
Not sure about your generalization that most americans couldnt pass it. I am an american and got them all correct without any kind of study prep. It seemed to me to be way too easy and super basic . i would like to see how well average americans would do on it . i am sure that there are those who would fail miserably but i dont think it would be most. Again its impossible to say for sure
@ Al Jenks I returned to University as a 42 year old husband and father and a good percentage of the kids who were in my classes had a hard time getting through their general studies History classes...heck my professors didn't include my test grade when setting up the curve, since I would destroy it...I passed my 1000 level History class with a 98...the next highest grade was a Foreign student (she was from Ireland) and she had a 90 and that was with the curve (without it she had a 88)...
@@burnoutn9 wow
What is this???? Different seating arrangement??? My mind is blown.
🤣🤣
Being a Vermonter, I can tell you were close when you said it sounds French. I heard it was from Verde Mont growing up and that it meant "Green Mountains". Makes sense as Vermont is called the Green Mountain State (New Hampshire is the White Mountain State and is Vermont's upside down twin {grin}). It was interesting listening to your rational for your answers. Well done!
Interesting tidbit. At the time of the orignal formation of the US, Vermont was an independent nation and Maine was actually still part of Massachusetts.
Its from Vert Mont. French for Green Mountain. Verde is Spanish.
Opposite twins. Vermont might be the most liberal state in the U.S. -- make me love it even more -- and New Hampshire is the most conservative in New England.
I just spent 20 minutes shouting at my phone... 😆
The speaker of the house is not the receptionist... lol!🤣😂
Love you two, From New Jersey, USA. Glad to see Millie taking charge. Man you are in trouble now!!! LOL Keep up the great work both of you.
when I first started watching them I didn't realize they live in Jersey UK so when they talk about visiting the US and mentioned being in Jersey I naturally combined those two together and thought they were stuck in New Jersey for pandemic
The war questions...I get it if you're young and it's not interesting to you, but basic stuff like what countries were in the Axis and which were Allies should be known the world over. Also the Vietnam War was a pretty big deal, with a big chunk of 60s/70s culture being a reaction to it (protests, hippies, peace movement, many rock and folk songs about it, famous movies, etc). The Korean War took place almost immediately after WWII and was the first conflict of the Cold War. It's the reason there is a North Korea and a South Korea...
Before you take another test, you need to watch some of the "School House Rock" videos. As a child in the 70's that's how we learned our American history and government, "No More King", "The Shot Heard Around the World", "The Preamble", "I'm Just a Bill", "The Great American Melting Pot", "Elbow Room", ....they had ones on science and english as well.
I was just about to post about this! I swear I learned more from these cartoons than I did in school!😄
Vermont became an independent country after the revolutionary war but only for about 14 years. ( Vermont's name is influenced by the French settlers. It means green mountain.) They sided with neither the British or the new American country. Vermont became part of the USA in 1791. Texas and Hawaii were also seperate countries prior to becoming states.
And they still march to the beat of their own drum...like sending Bernie Sanders to DC. LOL
I will admit.. I'm born American and I struggles with this.. amazing to see Millie is the 1st chair.. love ya both!
im guessing your under 50 the younger people are the lest they know about it or care now its only about pronouns and tictok dance moves
Now that you know the answers, come on over. We need good people like yourselves.
Seeing them swap places is like being in an alternate universe where everything is almost right, but not.... very unsettling
Millie saying the Speaker of the House is like a receptionist made me laugh! Right now our Speaker of the House (Pelosi) is more like the wicked witch of the west from the Wizard of Oz! 🤔
Beesley made a comment when trying to figure out what power the states had instead of the federal government. He wording implied that the federal government gives the states powers. This is not the case at all. In the US, when they wrote the Constitution in 1787, one of the main issues hindering it being ratified by the states was because for the federal government to have power the states would have to surrender certain powers to that government. Therefore, state powers are not derived from the national government, but rather the inverse is the case. Also, on the whole, government power is derived from the bottom up. In other words, government powers are derived from the people. The government's job is to guarantee the people's rights, not to give the people rights as is done in England with power derived from the monarch and rights given to the people via Parliament. This is a key difference between a republican government and a constitutional monarchy.
Can someone please send Ian’s comment to the US federal government to remind them!
FYI, the Speaker of the House is the head of the House of Representatives, not the receptionist for the White House. There are two houses in Congress. The House of Representatives has members representing each state in correlation to the population of each state, while the Senate has two members per state regardless of land area or population.
In the US, the states have all powers not granted to the federal govt in the Constitution. Unfortunately, corrupt politicians continue to power grab on the federal level and the states haven't adequately fought back to stop it.
It’s frustrating to not be able to scream out an answer! I mean, I can but you won’t hear me. 😂
Saying that you don't need to know when the major conflicts of the twentieth century occurred (Korea a 19th century war?) or who fought who in World War II is rather heartbreaking. This is rather basic knowledge. Other than that, you did really well on the U.S. questions.
Even the British took part in the Korean War....
Technically, the Korean War wasn't a "war." It was a "police action." But there was no difference between this "police action" and "war."
@@scottfrench4139 I think the term usually used now is "Korean Conflict". It is putting lipstick on a pig, really.

Had to chuckle on the 'Speaker of the House' question, as Nancy Pelosi is the only one in the House of Representatives. The other 3 were all Senators (Graham, Schummer & McConnell) in the 'other chamber' of 100-member senate (2 from each state). :)
Sorry, while Lindsey Graham (R) and Chuck Schumer (D) are Senators, Mitchell McConnell (R) is the Republican Leader in the House.
@@benfowlie5147 You are mistaken and I am correct. The state bordering Canada question was tricky because Wisconsin is only separated from Canada by water and could have been an "impulse" answer.
Love you guys! I'm curious, instead of the US citizenship test, do you think you'd be able to pass the UK one? I'd imagine that most Americans, if they had to take the UK test, would do far worse than you did with ours.
And yeah, the Secretary of State one can be confusing. A lot of people don't know this so don't feel too bad but by definition, state just means a nation with a government so for example, Germany is a state in the EU (cus Germany has its own government) or Florida is a state in the US (cus Florida has its own State government). Again, the context is what matters.
Stay awesome!
Isn't Guy Fawkes a national hero?
I got 16 out of 24 correct (a fail). I needed 18 correct.
But that was a really hard test (to me) as it asked some more general knowledge / cultural questions, I think.
When President Reagan was shot and the Vice President was out of town, the Secretary of State got a lot of flack for going on TV saying "I'm in control now." It was meant as a signal to cold war enemies not to exploit a perceived a time of vulnerability for an attack.
I've taken the UK test, just for kicks. It is much longer and more difficult than this one.
That may be a great video idea!!! each of you make a video of THE OTHERS best/worst reactions to losing! great video! thank you
This was a really great video! Very fun to watch!
In case you were curious, the 1st amendment has 5 freedoms: freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly, and petition. Typically you will here these all lumped under "freedom of speech" but those are the 5 components of what is considered speech in the constitution.
You guys should have definitely known who Eisenhower was, or at least have known that he was supreme allied commander in WW2...a fact that your Montgomery was not too pleased about lol. Maybe it's because in the UK you have a lot more history to cover, from Rome, the Viking age, the Norman Conquest, etc. but I'm honestly suspired that you didn't learn more about WW2 in school. Invading Italy was actually Churchill's idea. I have to ask, not sounding to be rude, but do you know who Mussolini was? I'm also a bit of a history buff, so I'm probably biased in my assumptions of other people's knowledge lol. But I am curious on what you guys learn about WW2 in school.
Apparently the largest war in history is ignored by the British... This is the war that cost them their Empire...
ya most dont know about Benito Mussolini's part in the war
I laughed when she basically called Nancy Pelosi the little receptionist. But that's ok how are you to know. Congress has two parts. Once is called the House of Representatives and the other is called the Senate. The Speaker of the House is the leader of the House of Representatives. What! Lyndsey Graham as Speaker of the House. Oh now that would be a disaster. This was fun.
I am loving your videos! The two of you are so much fun to watch. If you want to learn more about the way the U.S. government is supposed to work, I suggest that you learn the way many of us who were kids back in the day did, by watching Schoolhouse Rock videos that were on in between Saturday morning cartoons. Here are a couple of suggestions: the Preamble to the Constitution ruclips.net/video/8_NzZvdsbWI/видео.html or my favorite, I’m just a Bill (about how laws are passed in the U.S.) at ruclips.net/video/tyeJ55o3El0/видео.html . School House Rock also taught us grammar (Conjunction Junction), science (A victim of gravity) and math (My hero zero). Keep up the good work!
we must be about the same age i learned more from that show then the school class lol
The way the audio kept cutting out made it seem like Millie was cussing up a storm 😂
Nancy Pelosi the receptionist. I love it. 🤣😂
You guys did great! Both of you! It’s not like these were hammered into you in school like they were for us and I played along with you guys and still got 2 wrong myself!
🤣🤣🤣🤣You just called Nancy Pelosi a receptionist!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 Made my day 😅
I think that you two did a good job on this test. I know an awful lot of people that were born and raised in the USA that could not do as well as you guys did. I will guarantee you that I would not do as well on a UK version of this test.
Just to clarify, we do have Easter Sunday in the U.S., but it's considered a religious holiday, not a national holiday.🇺🇸🙂
So dumb too because xmas is also religious but gets a pass?
@@tonymorris4335 facts
Christmas has been so commercialized and also has Santa for those that are non-believers and there is only one reason Easter exists. That's my guess as to why they are treated differently.
We do not have Easter Monday and your mail still gets delivered on Good Friday i.e. no federal holiday(s) for Easter like in U.K. where it's a big holiday.
Y’all know more than actual Americans. Great job 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Nobody will come for you. I guarantee if you gave me a test about the UK, I'd fail that!
Have you ever watched Jay Leno's "Jay Walking "? If you have you probably have already figured out that many Americans wouldn't be able to pass its citizenship test.
The WW2 one was crazy. Thought for sure you’d know that, being from a country that fought in it. And I don’t think anyone would describe that as a war starting between Germany and England. Perhaps a video oversimplifying WW2 or something is in order next…
I’m following your sister on TikTok. Those are the only 2 SM I use. I’ve seen several of your videos here and just now realized I wasn’t subscribed so I fixed that. Love you guys!
Just a comment. Only about 30% of US students can pass this test. And shame on you both for missing the WW2 questions, this should be part of British History as well. Roosevelt was the US President that provided "Lend - Lease", that kept Britian afloat during the early days of WW2 and Eisenhower was the Supreme Allied Commander stationed in Britian and reported to Churchill and Roosevelt.
The Speaker of the house question shows just how much trouble we are in over here, we have a numpty geriatric patient as president, a cackling assistant and a Chinese sympathizer as Speaker.
“It’s Karen!” Lmao she has no idea how right she is… “Karen” Pelosi 😂
Millie taking the lead! Secretary of State is our version of Foreign Minister.
A few of these are not just American history. The US landed in Italy with the British, you should know that.
Yes, as I'm sure you remember everything that ever happened in history regarding your own country, right?
@@XxBollWeevilxX I mean... I feel like you should know that russia was on our side in WWII 😂
@@XxBollWeevilxX well I knew that, that’s why I wrote it. I am very good at history but obviously didn’t claim to have a godly knowledge like you pointlessly imply.
@@Vladkhanthehun No, that's the point. I don't know everything, but you said "you should know that" in your original comment. Which is pointing out that someone doesn't know something that you do. Hypocrisy? What is even that.
@@Vladkhanthehun Just maybe try to stop saying stupid shit in youtube comments like, "you should know that." unless it's like 2+2 or something. that's maybe the broader point in case you don't understand.
You definitely know a lot about the United States. I see where you came up with a lot of your answers to the questions… sometimes they made more sense than what we have on the books lol
My great grandmother always said a day without learning something new is a day wasted
As someone who lives in Wisconsin, I am annoyed that water doesn't count as sharing a border with Canada.
