I lived in Germany in the early 1970's. . I remember as a kid standing behind a 911 on my bicycle staring at the duck tail spoiler . The car was parked at a small shopping center . The man that owned the car was standing outside one of the stores with a smile on his face realizing how fascinated I was with his fine automobile . It was a dark maroon light metal flake color . I was 7 years old . Funny how certain things stay in your mind .

AF brat? I too lived as a kid in Germany for 3 years. So did my wife, she was a military kid too, although we certainly didn't know each other then. Anyway, I too recall seeing the occasional 911 and marveling at it. But I was there in the late 70s, so the Turbo existed (1974, if I am correct without looking) and I always wanted to see one but didn't. We must not have lived in an area where such a car could be seen.
But oh, the memories. Now I live in Phoenix and people drive Lamborghinis to the grocery store. Times are so different now.

I too lived in Germany (Bad Homburg vd H) 1973 as a 10 year old. I vividly remember the brightly coloured 911’s with the ‘little duck tail’. I also saw a Lamborghini Countach walking back from school one day.
I’ve never been the same ever since..

I grew up in Eastern Europe. I had a chance to visit West Germany in my teens. It was mid 80-ties. I saw a 928 parked next to my father Wartburg. And it was more than a fascinating. For a kid from Eastern Europe that was living only with soviet and Eastern Block cars.
