The Lady in the Lake was the first instance of the subjective camera style of filming. It was not successful, as it alienated audiences from the lead, Montgomery. 🌟
One of my favorite actors. I love his films with Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford and other MGM stars. But in particular his performance in "Night Must Fall" is a stand out. It's one of my all time favorite films, and such an unusual part for Montgomery for which he was nominated for an Oscar and in my opinion should have won. His "Lady in the Lake and Hitchcock's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" shows just how versatile he could be.
