i saw this concert on tv broadcast (around 2005 i guees) while I was still living at my parents'house and during the wole concert i couldn't help but dancing along and alone in front on the tv screen ! crazy memories !!! champions' rules !!! cheers from Belgium ! gasprod@
Haven't heard this in years until the radio just now and the memories came flooding back to this exact night in Montreal! I was just 19 years old at the Jazz Festival, visiting my hometown and closest friends... you can't tell but it was raining - the amazing kind of festival rain you wish for when a song like this comes on! They also thew beach balls from the Hyatt hotel and played until the rain stopped. One of the wildest most beautiful musical memories I have. Must be why I adore live music and outdoor festivals ♥♥♥
I was there... it was raining as hell (that's why you see the plastics on stage... to protect the equipment). They still managed to have over 50,000 persons that night. It was the Great Event of the 2005 Montreal Jazz Festival (July 5, 2005... broadcast on TV5 on July 17, 2005). If it had been a clear night, over 200,000 would have shown up!
For years I've listened to Beatrice rock "No Heaven"out and every time she is bloody fantastic. All the covers fail compared with Beatrice Bonifassi is the only one that came preform this song
I was there too. I am not a fan of this kind of music, but I became one that night. Champion had me jumping up and down like everyone else these. It was a perfect close to a fabulous Montreal Jazz fest. I visited Montreal for the first time from DC. What a great city for music, etc! Champion....when ya comimg to DC?
i wuz here - great definitive moment for MTL - it just defines our city - pouring rain doesn't stop our city from celebrating our people, music and culture Amit/Red
This is Quebec, electrification wasn't completed there until 2002 so you can't expect their big annual Jazz festival to have a loop transformer. Also they think they're part of Europe so even if they did it would probably only work on 50Hz and start a fire. (obvious sarcasm, yeah )
She is awesome, her name is Betty Bonifassi and she hails from Quebec, check out the animated film the Les Triplettes de Belleville, you can pick her kick ass vocals out easily :)
The original content the song is talking about was slavery, and was from a compilation of songs from 1937 called Negro Songs of Protest - "There Ain't No Heaven", where they'd be working on a county road with no reward in sight.
Béatrice "Betty" Bonifassi (born c. 1971) is a French-born vocalist and song writer based out of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. And she awesome, also check out "Beast" an other group she play with. No offence Marie-Christine Who?
At the risk upsetting somebody with a dumb question, who is the singer or the band she's in. Trying to find a tab on bass for this song but i'm having no luck. I've tried just using DJ Champion but no luck there. Many thanks to any & all who help :)
This is a pure genius & brilliant song! I've studied the song & lyrics closely and it suggests that this song may have originated from African-American slaves. Does anyone know the origins of this song? Did DJ Champion originally write this song, or was it sampled from something else? Any facts or history about this song would be highly appreciated! I'd also love to know the lead singer's name! She deserves at least half the credit! She's freakin' awesome!
its.. about where people have to open strip row.. and they are right it aint no heaven... means exact.. forsaken.. gold that's turn to ask.. working.. the county road.
Hahaha!!! No, it's not, but i could understand why you think so lol... This is the only song of the album who has those lyrics... Ps: I'm not a fan at all of "christian music" This is just a local DJ who bring a lot of people to dance on his beats. :)

ah the beauty of 4 guitar attack... Telecasters at that... yes there is heaven and it's on Champions stage!... sweet
I realize this is 10 years old but a simple ground loop noise filter would clear up that nasty buzz.

@DJacKnifeAlpha what do you mean you barely hear it? It was in army of 2's credits, just like it was in borderlands's credits.
BORDERLANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love it and does anyone know, what song Patrick Watson engages in?
She is so badass. I want to meet her :D
@TheTomorow I know the song, because it is from the ending credits from Borderlands.
no heaven, no hell, no god. but there his champion and his G-strings, and they're fucking awesome
@DarthFolo lol, i didnt know those were lyrics to the song :P
getty up
@MrBeknown : Her name is Marie-Christine Depestre
No, it isn't, dumbass.
@@NeutralChaotic the recorded version
@IvenGard Borderlands made it known though. Army of 2 you just shoot and barely hear the music imho. also I think more people played BL than AO2

@PIMPINFO Oh lord there ain't no heaven... Oh lord don't come around me, if you do i'll cry...
and ARMY OF TWO :3
don't try to go too far with Dj Champion..
I know him and it was just a kind of funny song for him
because he always like to say: Oh Lord..
Where can I find the complete concert?
Wall of Telecasters
Without Beatrice, this song wouldn't be nearly as amazing xD
@MyrtleJoyce21 Yes i have and it was an interesting game to play. Why you ask?
@TheTomorow You know, it's only Borderlands, but have you played it?
@PIMPINFO No, but you asked if this was an christian band. What made you think I was gay? :)
scratch that last one. Can anyone just point me in the right direction to finding a bass tab
@clercq025 You're right!
Hi,
do you have some more videos of this special gig in montreal 2005?
Would love to see more.
Thanks
@IvenGard My bad...only played part of Army of 2...never beat it.
@clercq025 It was in army of 2 first : |
no.. the dj and his group
the gospel band are just there for the event..
@TheTomorow :)
@KINGMAN33 that's just her hair that's all frizzed up.
Who's the geek in white who comes on the stage near the end of the song? He's really annoying. He mars a fabulous song.
Is there some sort of DVD of this event?
is this song about working on chain gangs or something?
strip joints, prostitution and moral backruptcy.. cause apparently she didn't make no silver.
its.. about where people have to open strip row.. and they are right it aint no heaven... means exact.. forsaken.. gold that's turn to ask.. working.. the county road.
why is there spam from a videogame in this vid????
Hahaha!!! No, it's not, but i could understand why you think so lol...
This is the only song of the album who has those lyrics... Ps: I'm not a fan at all of "christian music" This is just a local DJ who bring a lot of people to dance on his beats. :)
LOL she looks knocked up as fuck.....hahaha she is still badass..
What is the singers name?
Betty Bonifassi
lol wtf is with nerd-man with the 3 laptops
I'm being serious, yeah.

If it was their message would be pretty damn backwards ;)
chanson bonne, mais chanson diabo....??

lol is that a christian band?
@PIMPINFO This ain't a Christian band.....
Thats just sad lol
damn, I do not like her voice :l it's different in the album

Jason Smith Singing like that? I doubt it.
