As you listen to her voice there is a reason why this is a rare video, jive didn't want this released or else will hear her true voice. She sounds very beautiful and today she is leaning back to her real voice and mainly siniging with her high head voice and not so nasally. I'm truly tired of people judging her and saying she can't you all don't know her story and how hard she worked to get to where she is. What? Britney was electroshocked? How do u know? I really miss her, I will always support her, but I want her back. It seems like something changed her and I wish I could help to get the original brit
You’re right this is the real Britney but unfortunately there was nothing powerful about her vocals here. She simply vocalized her voice to make it louder but there was no resonance there. Jive wasn’t trying to hide her talents Jive was trying to hide her deteriorating vocals which is understandable when you’ve invested money in an artist who is losing their vocal ability as they matured. I’ve listened to “original doll” And unfortunately there were no hits within that body of work and any smart company is not about risk destroying the product they invested in by releasing such an album. She was blessed for a record company to give her a chance when the risk was so high which is why i assume they put her on that temporary contract.
@@nosecandie3890 Even with her OG vocals on 'Original Doll', it would've been compromised by years of a singing almost in falsetto with a strained and shrunken tessitura (thank Max Martin and the handful of engineers on her records), also she's been smoking since early-2002.
She has always said that she isn't a great singer, but she really feels the music. That she loves the way singing makes her feel and above this she iIS an acceptable singer. The thing is that to be a pop star voice isn't everything and Britney has the appeal that not even Madonna has. The charisma, the charm. And don''t let me start talking about her dance movements, she was REALLY good.
She is a singer, above average and that is a fact. She had, carisma, an appealing voice, stage presence and being extremely beautiful did help, that combo is hard to find, that's why she was a global phenomenon. A true pop superstar.
Agree. This isnt the best showing of vocal prowess. Having said that with a proper vocal training she can definitely be at least a good singer. But yes, other than the singing part. Everything else was perfect. The perfect package. And she was also lucky to start her career with Max Martin. All those hits from him got her to superstardom.

Only true Britney fans can appreciate this. look how innocent Brit Brit was back then, she's been through life's struggles but look at her now. 150 million albums sold, multiple #1 singles , an A list celebrity , star ON THE HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME, a world known brand, multiple awards, Las Vegas RESIDENCY , millions of loyal fans, a loving family, two beautiful kids and still going strong. Iconic is what she is.
Loving family ?! They were the ones who wanted her girl to be famous NO MATTER the sacrifices ! They sold her again and again until now there’s no more passion in her for music only obligations by the contracts HER FATHER signs in her name ! That’s an opportunistic family and management ! There are so many great artists that ended up destroyed or dead inside because they’ve been sold out ! I will always love and appreciate the Britney with whom i grew up until the « switch » that took place after the Blackout album. It’s not her anymore and she’ll never be :( God bless her for making my adolescence nicer and for the memories i have listening to her songs.
She really did start from the bottom. It sucks how much the industry changed her and how they stripped away her natural talent/voice and made her sound so bubble gum pop. Had she stuck to her true voice she could have been a really great singer. They focused more on her as a performer/dancer than an actual singer. I'd love to hear her just singing around the house with her natural voice and not the bubblegum pop voice. I'm sure she can still sound pretty decent.
+Dustin Guillotte I agree, back then you had to actually WORK to get anywhere in the music industry but now someone can get discovered online thus we have the abomination known as Justin Bieber.
When I saw her BOMT Tour live she sang live and when she sang OPEN ARMS she blew the crowd away! I'll never forget! Everyone was saying how talented of a singer she was! She gave me the chills!!
The moments she naturally returns to her natural singing voice sounds really good but way too mature for bubble gum pop. you can see her. singing conflict forcing to sound that way

Typical hater. Nothing else to say. How can anyone (who is neither deaf or a hater) say pre-2001 Britney coould not sing? She used to fucking slay! Maybe not technical, but naturally good, deep, powerful and unique voice + great natural vibratto.
I admire her courage and confidence to stand on her own and put herself out there to make her dream a reality. Even before she became famous you could just see she was oozing with that X factor. She’s just always had that star quality.
+Rob Smith Nope, she's quite off key and sings in her natural deep voice trying so bad to sound like her famous "chipmunk" effect. This must be real live. Nowadays her voice is so destroyed that she can't even sing like that anymore.
She really is reminiscent of her younger self in the MM Club. A huge amount of fame for such a young girl. So sad to see her now, with the cryptic posts and 12-year conservatorship. Just makes you think what awful things happened to her whilst so young in the music industry.
Some of you are forgetting that this showcase was *after* Britney had been vocally trained to sing in her baby voice. If you watch videos of her singing before she ever signed her record deal, you'll find that her voice was absolutely amazing. It was huge, powerful, professionally trained from her musical theatre background, and good enough to be compared with Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. Just saying.
no one compares to Mariah and Whitney, but there's a reason Britney has always cited both as influence. And you can hear why even on her baby voice. Whatever she was doing with the baby voice was NOT EASY and it was super GOOD. Oops is one of her best vocal albums exactly because she perfectly the baby voice with the Mariah/Whitney melismas/vibratos. So yeah, originally her voice was meant to take them by front, but when she signed she switched strategies. Just saying there's nothing wrong with the approach Britney took to singing (except restraining a big voice into a small voice :/)
+Rob Smith what the hell are you talking about. her voice.. her singing at this moment is fucking live. who gives a fuck if she is singing over a track. she needed the music and backup vocals. this is a low budget preformance. she couldnt have backup singers there. and britney is a different preformer then adele. adele is a singer britney is an entertainer. and by your definition of live you still act as if britney has never sung live.
Her voice is damaged now, but in 1998 it was not. I mean, THIS is really good, better than most popstars. She was an amazing singer and dancer, she had it all.

While Britney is currently a shell of her former self, I will always find enjoyment from looking back on her earliest performances. From an old fan; good luck Britney! Congratulations on everything you are today. Humble beginnings, for sure.
Caparazón?? Tu muy mal 👎👎👎 Britney ed gloriosa hoy, mañana y siempre.
Not so limited! She was a huge singing talent on Mickey Mouse Club at a very young age! And she's an accomplished dancer as well. But the songs from the record here were for a different affect and it worked for over 10 million copies sold U.S.
I'm always alarmed by getting likes on comments in notifications for Utube videos that never show on video itself!
It's about time if not the perfect time to show she actually has a voice. Her voice is so unique and beautiful!! I wish the record company never changed the way she sings!!!
the baby voice killed her natural alto register 😢😢😢
but she's talented and worked as a vocal actress for over 2 decades. it requires talents and ranges to impersonate baby voices and Brit has got talent
suck my pussy y'all i dont think her natural voice is totally gone. she used it when she covered let's give them something 2 talk about at one of her vegas shows last year & in perfume too
Yall. LOVE her but she does not sound good here. No need to pretend like she does. Watch it on .75 speed and you can hear her voice clearly separate from the track
Ruben i
She has a brilliant powerful alto voice. People say she can’t sing but she can when not forced to do that baby voice.
the baby voice is great too, y'all tripping
@@natirasohumana but she was forced into it. Now it is so so hard to revert her natural voice back
@@ulpianobedia5809 was she forced into it? I hate it when people make her to be this poor puppet. She became a legend in part to her unique voice. Maybe she went along with it because she knew it would make her unique
@@natirasohumana As far as I know, yes. She was forced by her label to change to the baby voice because the record label thought the baby sound good would make more than her actual voice.
@@ulpianobedia5809 and she went along with it because she wanted it. Or was she singing the same way she did in BOMT in the ITZ era? She also said she envisioned to make music like Sheryl Crow but when they suggested pop to her she was like, "yeah, actually this is better because I can dance." Like, in In The Zone and Blackout, was there anyone forcing the way her voice switched?
Her voice was ruined by baby voice but we can't deny the fact that the baby voice created a huge impact in her career amidst the bad effects that it had for her voice. Her voice is really hard to imitate, both her deep and baby voice- those are her alone.
Yea if she only had the time to practice both, but fame took all her time...
"Sometimes" is underrated. It really showcased her voice well.
Not only was her own rent due... but her family, friends and community’s rents were due.
She had to sing for everybody in order to survive! and she in full after this performance
I hope she looks back at this and is proud. We love you, Britney.
She had NO IDEA how her world was about to change forever and just how famous she was about to become
1998 in Singapore has finally leaked! Watch our beautiful girl do her thing
One of the most special voices in the industry
That’s a reach. They is literally nothing special about her voice. Many young artist go through this transitional faze when they mature. Unfortunately Britney didn’t work hard enough on her new voice to showcase her range.
Britney her voice sounds like trash compared to other female artist
Nose Candie i think youve had too much of that CANDY UP YOUR 👃🏼!!!!
@@nosecandie3890 what a mean comment
@@nosecandie3890 I 100% agree! Her sex appeal stole the show. Not saying I don't like her, but her vocals just aren't there. Maybe when she was a kid, sure, but not afterwards. Just average.
Whatever the "X factor" is that makes someone stand out with star quality, Britney has not only always had it, but she had it in abundance. She is simply mesmerising to watch. For a period she was one of the most beautiful women in history.
She’s the one person who is not family or friends that I truly love and adore...hope she gets nothing but peace and happiness in her life! Thank you for everything princess ❤️✨
As you listen to her voice there is a reason why this is a rare video, jive didn't want this released or else will hear her true voice. She sounds very beautiful and today she is leaning back to her real voice and mainly siniging with her high head voice and not so nasally. Truly they wanted her to lip sync when she was signed because she was still learning how to sing in that fake voice especially with baby one more time. I'm truly tired of people judging her and saying she can't you all don't know her story and how hard she worked to get to where she is. I will forever idolize her for the great things she has done in her career and the sacrifices her family made for her to go after her dream.
Her family? Umm I don’t really understand who u referred but her dad definitely didn’t do any sacrifices 😳
You had me until you said "her family" her family made her hard work to be in vain since they converted her unto a SLAVE. Every single one of her family members turned against her for MONEY
She’s an angel and we don’t deserve her. I hope one day she is 100% happy even if we don’t get any more music from her. ❤️
I love when she sings live, her real voice is so beautiful ❤️
her deep voice is so fucking beautiful and pleasant... so fucking unfair how her natural register was ruined
'You Got It All' - she ended me. WHAT A VOICE
Proof that *Britney Spears* is an amazing live vocalist!
Who came here to see the full performance after watching the clip from Britney’s instagram??
You can tell she's struggling singing in that baby voice while trying to maintain her natural voice. But loved her ad-libs
Her baby voice made her very popular.
This is the REAL BRITNEY...her lower voice is deep and powerful but sad coz people around her and label JIVE hide this talent, remember guys ORIGINAL DOLL unreleased album thats the album she want to show the real her, she goes to RADIO station and want MONA LISA played without permission of JIVE and that day we here that single after that we never heard again and the album vanished, then her comes the breakdown era which she REBEL she lost herself and think no ONE BELIEVE her..but after that dark times she try to get back and find herself again with the help of her family and her fans who been there for her. to all HATERS you guys are educated person if you dont like her as an artist atlist give her a RESPECT as a human being. god bless us
I’ve listened to “original doll”
And unfortunately there were no hits within that body of work and any smart company is not about risk destroying the product they invested in by releasing such an album. She was blessed for a record company to give her a chance when the risk was so high which is why i assume they put her on that temporary contract.
She wants you to know: Shes been cloned shes been cloned shes been cloned
#DonaldMarshall
Look Taylor Swift is huge yet she can't dance, her voice, songs and looks are average ..guess you don't need talent but Britney was talented
She is a singer, above average and that is a fact. She had, carisma, an appealing voice, stage presence and being extremely beautiful did help, that combo is hard to find, that's why she was a global phenomenon. A true pop superstar.
and extraodrdinary dancing you forgot to mention.
Agree. This isnt the best showing of vocal prowess. Having said that with a proper vocal training she can definitely be at least a good singer. But yes, other than the singing part. Everything else was perfect. The perfect package. And she was also lucky to start her career with Max Martin. All those hits from him got her to superstardom.
a singer above average? hahahahahahahaha no way.
Good singer, Good performer with amazing pop hits.
I like her image and songs but let's not exagerate.
Madonna is the true pop star. Britney can't sing and dance the same time like Madonna, in 2001, at 43 years: ruclips.net/video/e4HHa7MmX3U/видео.html
Helga Fever nobody mentioned britney being better than madonna. Anyway they’re completely different type of entertainers
She. Was. 16. Oh my god she´s so talented, her voice is everything
This is truly a spearitual experience. I'm blessed. Amen Britney Spears.
her first performance 🥺
I'm her biggest fan and I understand why she rarely sings live. I would want to have a Britney album with songs that are less pop/techno dance and just focus on her voice ☺
Honey there is no voice. She can barely sustain even the most basic notes. Britney and her team knows her strengths and her vocals is definitely not one of them. We’re at a point in her career where even autotuned studio vocals don’t sound to good.

Dude educate yourself, beautiful family?? She also hates being famous, it’s what people like you think matters but it honestly doesn’t
😍😍😍🤗
@Robin Amarnia What are you talking about?
This comment sure didn't age well!
I'm sure she can still sound pretty decent.
she didn't start from the bottom. She was famous and was on tv as a kid.
Being famous and on tv as a kid still doesn't mean you were on top. DO. YOU. SEE. THIS. PERFORMANCE?! lol Take this to where she is now.. Bottom, TOP.
+Dustin Guillotte I agree, back then you had to actually WORK to get anywhere in the music industry but now someone can get discovered online thus we have the abomination known as Justin Bieber.
BOMT Is probably the most successful debut song of all time so she really started on top
Exactly the technology and microphone changed it, she has a great voice, why I love from the beginning.

This is so beautiful! It almost makes me cry.
Gosh! Her real voice is so beautiful! 😍 it's such a shame she doesn't she keeps doing the baby voice.

The moments she naturally returns to her natural singing voice sounds really good but way too mature for bubble gum pop.
you can see her. singing conflict forcing to sound that way
Exactly! You can tell she struggled to have the small sultry whispering voice that they made her have. It's so sad!
pakman54321 they're truly robbed her of her identity and someone people didn't take seriously.
She can just make regular pop music but ok
I don't think she can't sing, I just think they took a natural unique voice and screwed with it too much. She sounds better than I ever could lol plus a lot of star appeal.
get your ears cleaning my cat sings better
+Chris chris I'm sure mine can too, never said she was a phenomenal singer...
Chris, I think you're deaf as shit. She has such a unique and strong voice. Those falsettos and ad-lips in Sometimes? You think they're easy to do? I mean, those are some amazing shits!
I agree with +Chris chris ... sorry, but britney cannot sing poor thing.
“you got it all” was the only song that she sounds similar to the original recording. One of my favs actually
This is rare. If this was a "showcase" means she was playing for industry people. Plus last song she sings is a cover. But great find.

Fuckinhellney 😀😀😀
Good one.
+Rob Smith Nope, she's quite off key and sings in her natural deep voice trying so bad to sound like her famous "chipmunk" effect. This must be real live. Nowadays her voice is so destroyed that she can't even sing like that anymore.
I agree but as for Britney it is "live". ;)
There's more than one song. :P
OMFGodney "You Got It All" slayed me so hard 😭😭😍😍😍
She really is reminiscent of her younger self in the MM Club. A huge amount of fame for such a young girl. So sad to see her now, with the cryptic posts and 12-year conservatorship. Just makes you think what awful things happened to her whilst so young in the music industry.
Britney voice is unique...her tone and the way she sings...its very calming to my ear...
I wasn't prepared for this!
A privilege to witness her like this, thanks for sharing
Some of you are forgetting that this showcase was *after* Britney had been vocally trained to sing in her baby voice. If you watch videos of her singing before she ever signed her record deal, you'll find that her voice was absolutely amazing. It was huge, powerful, professionally trained from her musical theatre background, and good enough to be compared with Christina Aguilera and Mariah Carey. Just saying.
yes..a lot of people forget that..britney just sang "something to talk about" in her real voice and it's amazing!!
no one compares to Mariah and Whitney, but there's a reason Britney has always cited both as influence.
We know idiot it was 1998

all pop singers sing over a track except very few. and that doesnt change the fact her voice is live here.
+Rob Smith
Adele would be, if she could. I mean look at her.
this amazing since there were no back up vocalists and so on! SHE CAN SING
Her voice is damaged now, but in 1998 it was not. I mean, THIS is really good, better than most popstars. She was an amazing singer and dancer, she had it all.
in the circus tour live singing a song and it sounded so incredible that your comment is x, if britney does not sing live for something will not talk to basics because we have them
How can you say her voice was horrible in 1998? I enjoy her childhood and teenage voice way more than Christina Aguilera's one.
Sam Samson Don't be so biased tho. She sings really good here, it shows that the girl didn't get her record deal & her huge career for nothing. She had the voice, the dancing, the charisma, everything a performer could dream of
+Sam C she was totally off key during bomt. It was NOT good.
This is so natural.. I love it.. I wish they didn't mess around with artists voices the way they do. It's so lovely to hear her natural voice with so much emotion in it..love it 💖💖
you can hear her natural voice here trying to break free ..its like they trained her to sing in that awful croaky voice.
they did train her to sing like that hahaha they wanted that deep voice GONE
fashiongrl2010 yep I hate it...i remember seeing Britney as a little girl on RUclips and thought " why did she changed her style"

Listening to her sing “you got it all” always brings a tear to my eye. Seeing her in such a pure and innocent way holding on to so many dreams and aspirations. With gleaming eyes ready to shine… it’s just so tragic what happened to her years later. The music industry isn’t for the weak and it’s designed to chew you up, use and spit you out when you’re not longer as shiny and new. God bless you Britney!
It's a shame that she wasn't allowed to own the lower register. It could have been a unique selling point, like it has been for so many other women (Toni Braxton, Anita Baker, Etta James, Tboz from TLC, Mutya Buena, Lana Del Rey...)
She had a very distinct natural voice. Similar to Gwen Stefani in that you know it’s them. It’s too bad she didn’t focus more on vocals.
The greatest female pop vocalist and performer of all time, in my highly subjective opinion. I'm so lucky to have heard her. ❤
