The team behind these cinematics for swtor need to be responsible for an animated series down the line at some point. They are so pleasant to watch.
They should be the ones in charge of the high republic.
They should just be doing all the main Canon movies.. 2-3 hrs of these at a time!
The team is the company ILM, which was founded by George Lucas in 1975. They have worked on every Star Wars film, the company was created by Lucasfilm to handle the special effects since Fox's in-house effects team was not able to do the effects needed for the film.
@@Wagshockey33 ILM isn't the one that makes these trailers.
@@DtLS The official swtor account tweeted that this one is done by ILM, which explains some of the visual differences to the older blur studio cinematics.

Your absolutely spot on. It's great read between the lines story telling
@@paulkaufmann6546 Emotions are more easily accessible and instinctual, but they're by no means whatsoever 'easier' to break free with. Though the Sith rely on negative emotions to tap into the dark side, it requires rigorous honing of those emotions into a razor's edge, otherwise, it'll take them over and their own abilities/hubris will cause them to self-destruct. Both Jedi and Sith train for similar control; the methods used and aims are different.

Such a perfect manipulating villain.
No, he just told her the truth.
It is manipulative, he only reveals the truth at a point in time where he wins regardless. He sets up the situation to were the truth is revealed and uses it to his benefit.
Isn't that what Freedon Nadd's ghost did to Exar Kun on Korriban? He buried him under the rubble and left him no choice but to embrace the dark side?
Very nice detail!

Notice how he says "this is how the SITH AND Jedi maintain control.", he acknowledged that both sides do this, he does not turn a blind eye to the similarities between the two factions, most Sith and Jedi ignore them to keep this 'us vs them' mentality up.
At this point in his life, he left the Sith Order.
That's what I love about SWTOR in general; other than the player character, everyone's neither good or evil - just different shades of grey.
its kinda still the same mentality but the difference is its the people who took you in or the people that tells u the truth
This is why malgus betrayed the sith order. He believed the sith and Jedi are both children arguing over control that is not rightfully theirs

If you watch the short film Apex, To The DEATH or DARTH MAUL: Apprentice, there you will see what the fight should look like. This is just some FX eye candy.
Malgus is still to this day the best written sith lord
His big villain speech in the base game before we fight him is about building an empire based entirely on a meritocracy, alien alliances and tolerance
He made such a good point i had to stop and say "wait why am i stopping him exactly?"
And now
"How many were left behind so the jedi could play god?"
DAMN
WHAT A LINE
I mean what is his plan exactly? Teach EVERYONE the Force? That would only lead to an even worse chaos that would blow up the whole galaxy. Even the few in number Jedi and Sith cause untold him with it. He sure as hell cannot control it. Even Vitiate couldn't.
@@BlueWoWTaylan And it's impossible. Some people are just not attuned to it to the point of control.
I think Malgus's point was that everyone should be given a *chance* to learn the secrets of the Force, especially since those who are attuned enough to be cherry-picked from whatever they came from by a Jedi, are given a free ticket out of where they are to a life that is most likely way better than what they had, regardless of whether you believe in the Jedi way or not. Everyone else is left behind, when they could be helped by those very Jedi who were there anyway. The main Twi'lek character's background is a prime example. Her brother might've been gifted, he might not. But he never even got the chance, and was mostly likely forced to stay and become a slave, rather than be given a chance at a new life with his sister. It's why Malgus describe the Jedi as wanting to "play god", after all. They get to decide who they want to become something and who is left to rot.
@@BlueWoWTaylan Malgus has a point with the whole taking children from their family being bad thing. I know Anakin but Luke cared about poeple and grew up in a normal life and he did not fall to dark side. I see the sith as poeple hurt and confused with by the Jedi but instead of growing past that they lash out at everyone and so the fault is one both the sith for all the killing and damage and the Jedi for not getting a therapist, letting family visit or forgetting that you must care for the things you protect.
Play God is a bit out of place in Star Wars. I get the idea of it, it still makes absolute perfect sense. However, I'd use something along the lines "The Jedi dare to assume the true will of the Force", "the Jedi obscure the will of the Force", you get the idea, just a more in-universe related lines.

We need a complete SERIES by this team!!!!!
@@charlesjohnson7458 to expensive
@@bt3376 but then swtor have made like a million from this
SWTOR cinematic trailers are always perfect immaculate. They are exemplary in the world of Star Wars.
Now I can't wait for this Sith essence!
Lightsaber combat in this trailer looks a lot more like a refined martial art than even in the movies, with characters utilizing grapples, kicks and punches to compliment their lightsaber techniques. Now that I looked at it, it feels weird none of the movie characters ever did that.
It’s cause the movies are straight up dogshit. It’s pretty crazy that the swtor trailers are the best Star Wars action we can get.
In The Phantom Menace, Maul punches Obi Wan off of the platform in the final fight. In Revenge of the Sith during Obi Wan and Anakins final fight, Anakin punches Obi Wan in the beginning, and chokes him on the table inside where the CIS lie dead. He also kicks Obi Wan in the face before cutting off to Yoda and Palpatines fight. So youre very mistaken.
@@Alexius0212 You are also very mistaken in thinking that Maul "punched" Obi-Wan anywhere in that fight. It was clearly shown and there was a unique sound to that maneuver that he delivered a >force push< to knock him off at the end. Obi was the lead receiver of Maul's kick attacks in that fight but was never punched.
@@Alexius0212There’s only like 4 instances of it happening so it doesn’t count🙅♂️
@@ValentinoMarino11"4 instances" would be alot of instances when there are only a handful of duels in the prequels. That said, there are definently more than 4 instances.
Maul repeatedly uses physical martial arts and kicks in his fight in phantom menace in fact, that's how he creates an opening against Qui-gon Jinn by bludgeoning him with his lightsaber hilt.
When Anakin fights Obi-wan there is also plenty of physical contact. At one point early in the fight Anakin attempts to grapple Obi-Wan, however Obi counter grapples to create an opening, but then Anakin counters Obi's counter by spinning into a block.
later on in the fight you have Anakin physically locking down Obi-wan and attempts to choke him out which progresses into a back and forth exchange of kicks between them. Hell, Anakin literally full on DROPKICKS Obi-wan in this scene.
Pretty sure Anakin also backhands him at several occasions too
So idk wth the hell you guys are smoking to claim the movies weren't like this.
Because the statment is clearly wrong, as the swtor duels emulate the prequels approach to dueling.
We have scenes like this BECAUSE of the movies.
I like how as soon as Malgus started explaining what the machine was, her master started panicking. Which gave her greater reason to distrust him. Malgus may be lying. Manipulating her. But he was right that the Jedi may have lied to her.
Both sect plays Gods & kingmakers, with lies, twisted truths and manipulations.
I know right, this is more explained when being light side with warrior
Is that a holocron?
That was always the most interesting thing about Star Wars. In the OT Darth Vader never once lies to Luke yet Obi-Wan and Yoda do. Even in the crappy sequel trilogy Kylo Ren told the truth. The sith manipulate through truth
@@inspectorjavert9868 Is it really manipulating when your being honest even if by doing so you benefit.
I loved how when Malgus lost the green lightsaber, he looks at his hand. those little details are so important for the immersion
But he uses his hand like 3 seconds later...
@@TheMameBus I think he was looking at his hand to see if he could use it. Odd thing to say. I know but I can see it as something that could happen. After all. Lightsabers can generally cut through anything. Also, being Malgus is more machine than man. It would not surprise me that he had to look to see he still had his fingers. All because the lightsaber could have cut it off and he would have never known.

“How many were left behind so the Jedi could play God” what a fucking perfect line for the embodiment of the flaws of the Order. This is exactly how Anakin felt with the death of his mother and the loss of Ahsoka. This is the best way it could’ve been called back to. Just amazing as always.
Can't wait to see what they do with this in the expansion.
@@sambridgers9543 Probably nothing. Wouldn't be the first plot thread they hint at and then never resolve.
Yes. I honestly think that the old republic story shows the flaws even better then TCW and ROTS. We see way more fallen Jedi and warmongers in the order, while we also see some progressive and light sided Sith. In TCW, there’s still a very black and white profile of Jedi order and Sith. And sure the Sith are the evil guys but we can understand the problems of the order and the cruelty of its concept in SWTOR. And we understand why so many people are opposed to the republic
Lucas never intended for there to be Ashoka, but yes that is how he felt.
Malgus just chose light side sith dialogue. I's great to manipulate jedi like that.
I love the little cocky smirk she gives malgus. She has no idea how powerful he is and just completely dismissed him.
Then he is able to completely enter her mind and execute her master right in front of her leaving her to fend for herself.
Excellent scripting 👌🏼💯
I was a little anxious that she might beat him, because that often happens with these protegés. Rey beating Kylo with 0 training, Ahsoka beating Maul. That kinda shit. I was glad to see the master won.
Malgus is like that. He doesn't beat you in the 100 m sprint, but you don't stand a chance in a lengthy battle

"How many were left behind, so that the jedi could play god." Literal goosebumps.
More like literal trash. The lore clearly points out that the Jedi accepted all of age sensitives. Pretending the Jedi were exclusionary, especially in this more enlightened era is ridiculous. Just more of this recent Jedi bashing to seem edgy bs.
@@henriklayman Well they only took in the ones they deemed strong enough in the force. Wich is what I think Malgus is speaking of. So they did not accept everyone. They barely accepted Anakin, only because Obi Wan was stubborn.
@@MrVoignus Anakin was not initially rejected because he wasn't good enough, but because he was imbalanced and had an unhealthy power level, which would make it nearly impossible to train him. Anakin was also emotionally unstable and unwilling to accept his life as it was. The Jedi are very specific on who they train because they see all aspects of that padawan's life. If they take someone too strong, that person could become a dictator and try to force everyone to bow before them. If they are too weak they could die and the Jedi would be responsible. The Jedi abhor the destruction of innocent, defenseless life, which is why you always see them negotiating before a conflict. The sith are the opposite; they will take anyone so long as they can use the recruits to further their own agenda, whether the recruit lives or dies isn't even a consideration.
@@wolf3597 What's even sadder is that that show of force by tearing the doll into 2 is just enough for her brother to become a Sith Warrior. He could very much become a Darth as a duelist but sadly he won't ever be able to be a sorcerer as he just isn't strong enough in the force. He has shown very clearly that he could be a very powerful duelist. So maybe Sahar's brother is a Sith Lord or Darth?
@@Crimson-cr2nd Ideally I would hope that Sahar was smart enough to realize why the Jedi chose her and not her brother and she was able to use that wisdom to help her brother understand and become a Jedi as well.

SWG had more things wrong with it, than it had good. There were no quests in SWG at all. And very few NPCs. All there was to do in the game was crafting, material gathering, and pvp. The crafting was amazing. The size of the world was amazing. The player housing and the resource gathering machines you could place down in the world were amazing. If they took the crafting and gathering from SWG and combined it with SWtOR, that would make an incredible Star Wars game.
@@daemonthorn5888 I do not deny the questing aspect between the two games. One lacking, one not in that area. However, Star Wars Galaxies was perfect for the roleplaying community which SWTOR quickly lost as soon as 2013 but SWG had from it's launch up until near it's end in 2011 but have since moved over to the vanilla private servers like SWGEMU and Legends (post-updates).

@@p0etikxjustice499 I noticed that too, may be because of budget shortage or something. Swtor as a game has been falling off because EA is too busy making up ideas for a game that will inevitably be dogshit cash cows to actually care for the dev teams that are working on good games like Bioware.

Anyone notice how Malgus' eyes don't have that yellowish-red texture when he's talking about her brother. As if he truly knows her suffering and feels so sorry about that
In addition, in the scene just before the master destroys the machine you can see that Malgus' blade is turned off, and he doesn't appear to be in a combat stance; instead, his posture is slightly slouched, making it appear as if he's ruminating (and as a result, he gets caught off-guard when the master destroys the machine and a piece of rubble is sent flying into him)
This is made all the more likely since Malgus never got to know his biological parents
maybe the padawan being a twilek is adding to it as it reminds him of his former servant & lover Eleena

I dont want to call him an antihero, since he still falls more on the antagonist side, however, he does seem to have some higher concept of wanting to do something better, not just for himself either. If you played through the game, his whole betrayal of the empire really made sense. They offer you power and freedom to whatever you want with it. Free your family, take revenge on former oppressors, destroy your enemies, impose your will on whoever you want... it's just that the Dark Side of the Force drives most insane.
I just forgot everything around me for 6 minutes and 28 seconds...absolutely magical...
I actually like Malgus, he's a cool character held back by the Game he's in.
He's like the Darth Bane of his time. Disillusioned with the Sith Empire, but still devout to the Code.
He doesn't care about your current alignment. If he sees doubt in the current structures, he invites you to a new way. A pure interpretation of the Sith Code only that he doesn't go as far as purging every Sith except for himself and a pupil.
Darth Bane was a blabbering nobody and a mad man that weakened the sith into insignificance. Malgus is more like sith Revan.
@@iamblight707 A "blabbering nobody" who manipulated the incumbent Dark Lord of the Sith into destroying the Brotherhood of Darkness which was nothing but a loose end. There was Six other Battles on Ruusan before the Seventh which was the end of the so-called New Sith Wars, and despite the entire military of the Brotherhood of Darkness being present they lost all of them. If Bane just blindly followed Skere Kaan and his Sith Council into battle then he would have been killed along with the Brotherhood and the Sith would have faded into true insignificance because they'd all be dead as it's stated that before the dawn of the Seventh Battle of Ruusan only 1/10 of the Brotherhood's forces remained because of Kaan's leadership. Bane's Order of the Sith Lords survived for a thousand years and succeeded in gathering a number of powerful artifacts for the incumbent Sith Lords because they acted out of the shadows in preparation for the day that they'd render the Republic non-existent. The Sith Order would have been utterly destroyed if not for Darth Bane, you ought to be grateful if you're a Sithtard.
@@goaway4502 Sounds like if they just killed Kaan they'd have a chance. With just two, eventually there would only be one, as they kept trying to be immortal. And when the "immortal" sith dies, ie Palpatine in both legends and Canon, the Bane legacy sith are wiped out. In reality, as long as sith knowledge existed, along with the darkside itself, the sith would keep coming back anyway. All Bane did was destroy the brotherhood of the sith and severely weaken the dark side, until his order gained power and influence after his death.
@@iamblight707 If they killed Kaan then there would have been a leadership crisis because it's the Sith and everyone wants to be in charge. The Brotherhood of Darkness was literally founded by Kaan because the exact same thing happened to Darth Ruin's New Sith Empire. The Darkside wasn't "weakened", it just wasn't as present nor as detectable as it once was and that in the instance of the Order of the Sith Lords was a good thing as it allowed them to covertly build their strength over the course of a thousand years. He literally laid the foundations for the Order's ascension; without him Palpatine would have never became Galactic Emperor as Plagueis wouldn't be around to train him. "The Sith would just coming back" what? The ENTIRE Brotherhood of Darkness (all that was left of the Sith) was on Ruusan and because of Kaan's idiocy they lost 9/10 of their forces by the end of the Sixth Battle of Ruusan. If not for Bane then the Sith would be non-existent and every Star Wars film would be pointless as there'd be no villains.
The Bane line only ended because Palpatine intended for it to end as he saw no reason for anybody to succeed him; he wanted to be everlasting. Without such a power move by Palpatine it theoretically could have continued for alot longer.
Awesome! I'm waiting too long for new real cinematic =)
I`m too . Men , i love your channel . Thanks for your content .
BioWare is wise to keep Malgus alive this long, he is the face of SWTOR and a precursor for the Sith Warrior story.
Malgus’s animations were so amazing. It really exemplified his character. Brutal, enraged, but calculated and controlled.
True effort and sleepless nights from the team for sure for them touched details!! Kudos to them hope they read this ily
I'd fancy a movie or TV show in this style so much. The speed, agility and precision of the Jedi and Sith come across so much better in animations like these then life action.
Live action just can't do it, plain and simple. I have long been an advocate that any future Star Wars movie do away with live action and go full CGI like this.
@@PhazonInfuser Don't get me wrong we'd all love that, but I'm pretty sure a cinematic movie like this is quadruple the cost to produce compared to live action.
I think the only reason they haven't done it is because an hour or 30 mins straight of animation like this would be extremely expensive. Especially if they make a whole season
@@rumpleforeskin833 have you ever seen lion King 2019?
It costs 6 million to make just one of these, even with Disney money they would go bankrupt
The thought behind the combat in this video is amazing, the bit where they cut through the pillar into a bind and then wrestle for control is just outstanding.
This is single handedly better than anything show or movie wise has come out in years.
Kudos to Lucasfilm for allowing this game to still exist. I can't appreciate how much it means to me that this game is still alive and kicking well over a decade later. Thank you, Bioware and EA! Now, one request: please make this game canon - these cinematics (and this game in general) are too good to just leave in the legends timeline, they deserve more respect.
I had no idea they were still letting run but this trailer really cements it’s presence
The game is terrible though now. It's drip-fed content, shallow gameplay, and literal loot box gearing system.
@@wmcarter6096 lol what the fuck are u talking about
@@kandle2507 Sad Facts what he / she meant. Still hollow semi Mmo that's riding easy with help of big IP. Shameful development for past five 4-5x years. Glitchy & Outdated Horrid Game-Engine with low polygons even with highest graphics settings. Using bloom just makes things look more bad & animations are still clunky etc. etc. Shameful how Eaware's Sleeky Smile Charles Boyd & his minions keep cashing in this big IP via this shallow horrid mmo. Done through easily gullible people with help of these CGI Trailers.
2x 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' expansions that were heavily scripted & mostly repetitive had CGI Trailer that includes badly used bloom tech & made some scenes ugly. Kinda same used on this Legacy of the Sith CGI trailer. Also on this one the combat seems to flow too much at times. Anyways, take care & enjoy any game you adventure in. ^^ Kindly: Ex SWTOR Veteran who realised on time to stop feeding € to Sleeky smile Charles Boyd & his Minions.
@@Fedaygin I politely disagree, I play strictly for story, and the story is always good
