    Ammo prices are about to be a thing of the past for 5.7. AAC has started making ammo that is listed on PSA’s website. While out of stock it was listing at .50 cents a round. At $25 for 50rds that puts it right around the price of other main stream practice ammo. I have no experience with The M&P 57, but I do have experience with the PSA Rock, FN FiveseveN and Ruger 57 and with TISAS jumping into the 5.7 pistol market this calibers future is looking pretty bright.

      I hope you’re right, but I’ve always understood the bottleneck is the coated casing, which federal buys from FN. I can only assume that fiocchi, AAC and the others beginning to market their own loads are doing. If that’s true, FN can keep the price up. If there’s another manufacturer making coated brass, that would definitely be the tipping point

    • @youtubewatcher4792
      @youtubewatcher4792 Год назад +4

      I do not know about the Fiocchi ammo, but AAC is not using FN brass. The same goes with 5.7 brass from vangaurd outfitters.

      @@youtubewatcher4792 appears AAC is using some kind of oily lubricant on their cases instead of a cured lacquer. Not sure how I feel about that just yet. Could really make a mess inside a P90 magazine

    • @youtubewatcher4792
      @youtubewatcher4792 Год назад +1

      I am not sure what AAC is using, but I suspect it is the same wetmoly Vanguard uses. 5.7 requires a moly coated case to operate properly. FN cases are drymoly coated which a different process but is important to know you plan on reloading this round since it comes off easily during the brass cleaning process with coarse media.

    The barrel length is calibrated to fit within the window of effective powder burning from that cartridge. No compensating or porting needed. A shorter barrel wastes the potential of the round, along with excess flashiness.

      May I suggest a couple of options? There is a company that makes moldable/remodelable leather/kydex hybrid holsters for both iwb and owb carry. They can be molded to various pistols and remolded to fit another. Search on Google and you'll find them. The second option would be to order kydex sheets and associated hardware and make your own holster. I started making my own and haven't looked back. If you're a fairly handy person, the process is not as intimidating as it may sound. Hell, I made my last few holsters using 2 memory foam floor mats and 2 cuts of 2x12 boards to fashion a press. People actually don't believe I made them myself. The best part of making your own is that you can make them to fit your body specifically (ride height, cant, etc.). I like odd less popular firearms and in many instances, making my own holster is the only viable option. Good luck and I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Be that as it may, this is a gun I've been looking at, though more so for home/auto/woods-walking use. For carry, maybe a compact version could be made, but that action construction S&W uses may not be conducive to a shorter barrel length.
