Hey mate, Thank you Soo Much For Putting in Your Efforts & Making This Video. I Really Appreciate Your Help & Time !! Thank You For Sharing Your ART !!
Hey man, I’ve been following your channel for some time now and I have a challenge for you. I wish to be able to automatically change the content of an automation, including email brands and sender so I can use it to many clients at once. Would that be possible?
I'm currently deciding whether to sign up with ActiveCampaign as I am new to online marketing and I have been frantically learning as much as possible over the past few months. Seems like ActiveCampaign is the best solution for me and your video has made my decision. I will certainly be learning more from you soon, so thanks and keep up the great work! ✉👌
Hey Max great video. Question about your onboarding auto: The first condition checks if they have received any other campaigns. How would someone have entered this automation if there is no trigger. I know it feeds from the previous auto welcoming them. But by asking if they had been sent any campaigns youre assuming they might not have gone throug that first auto, so how would they enter this one without a trigger? Thanks!
I tried the evergreen automation + resend technique using goals as I've learned from your videos and ran into some major problems. I had "wait until day /time (contact timezone)" before each "weekly" email much like you've done here. A whole bunch of contacts slipped right through and kept getting the next week's email as fast as they opened them. As soon as they opened an email, the next weeks would get sent. I've had wait times issues in the past with activecampaign. It seems I'm contacting their support almost every other week about a wait time issue somewhere in my assortment of automations. Have you had these troubles as well?? Things seem to work when an automation is built and left untouched, then you introduce contacts to it, but when you work on an automation while contacts are in it...that's where all the trouble begins in my experience. Most of the time things get "fixed" by their tech team but nobody ever informs me as to what was wrong. I would love for somebody to say that I did something wrong and explain it...but that never happens. It seems to always be on their end, which is scary. After many wait time errors contacts often drop right out of the automation completely and I have the good fun of piecing together a dozen temporary tags along with corresponding goals to sleuth out the last email a contact received so I can attempt to move them back into that part of the evergreen automation.
Hey Max, Quick question RE interest tagging on website. 15:56 Using the tracking code. What is the prerequisite for successfully tracking a customer? Does their email need to be in the system prior to tracking? Does tracking only occur when they click from an email? Is there a way to capture emails prior to them entering the AC? Thanks
Hey Nadeali! Great questions! A contact will be tracked as soon as ActiveCampaign know who they are. ActiveCampaign recognizes the contact after the contact submits an ActiveCampaign Form or when they click a link in one of your emails. So as far as I know you can't track people who didn't opt-in yet, so there's also no way to figure out who they are. I hope that helps!
@@maxvcollenburg Hey Max, it seems AC tracks engagement without the use of submitting a form, or clicking on an email. The site visiting tracking code detected me and updated the automation as such. Could you give this a shot and verify?
I think the open tracking will work less reliable, but the link tracking should still work. So it's maybe not 100% reliable, but I think it's still a great way to track when people engaged with your content for the last time. Additionally, you could also add site tracking. Hope that helps! 😄
Hey Michael! Happy to hear you like my videos 🤗 You can turn a scenario in Integromat on with their API: apidocs.integromat.com/#8ee04e92-db0f-43aa-b52b-0cdc3374ad68 However, you also need to pass over the authorization token, and I'm not sure how you would add that to a webhook in ActiveCampaign. Hope this helps you into the right direction!
Hey Max - do you have anything in place to stop people from getting multiple emails from you at the same time from different automation? Also, do you ever send out time-sensitive emails to your contacts? Or is it just pre-scheduled stuff?
Hey Maxie! Great question! I try to make my automations in such a way that people can't really be in multiple ones at the same time. One exception is whenever I do a promotion, then I don't want people to continue in, for example, a evergreen newsletter automation. I did that by creating a custom field called "Current Promotion" and setting the value with the name of the promotion they are currently in. Then, inside my evergreen newsletter, I have a wait action with the condition "wait until Current Promotion is currently blank". That way, people only continue in my newsletter if they're not in a promotion. Another trick you could use is to apply a simple tag like "[Status] Do not disturb", and then you do the same wait action trick again based on this tag. Or if you just want to check if someone is not inside another automation, add a wait action or if/else to check if someone is "not currently inside automation X" Hope that gives some ideas!
I was thinking the same thing. When you add the “ wait until current promotion is blank” I presume you’ll have to add it to every single wait block in the automation or is there an easier more global way?
Is there a way to send a yearly email at a specific date to older clients that no longer use you? For example, different clients have events yearly on specific dates and I would like to email them BEFORE that "Just checking in to see if you would like to use my services this year." This is for clients who might not have used my services in several years. Almost like a happy birthday reminder
Hi Max - is it possible to start an automation without using a start trigger? That can make sense if you send the customer directly from one e mail funnel to another one.
Hey Thomas! Yes, totally! You can create automations without a start trigger, and then add people to it from another automation/add them manually/add them through the API. Hope that helps!
hi Max, thank you for great tutorial. I'm setting up a funnel with upsells and different tags. Do u have a tutorial on how to setup automation for segmented lists in A/C?

Max, YOU are single handedly helping me use Activecampaign! Question: in one of your videos (I FORGOT WHICH) :o you mention a way to have the viewer be able to get the next email now instead of tomorrow (or whenever). Which video was that and what is that feature called?? THANK YOU!!!
hi max, "Get all the automation examples" is delivering ONLY the newsletter automation (from other video), is there anywhere when I can access this all automation examples you have used in this video? regards...
This is really awesome. Just a question. I have set the automations for the engagement threshold, update last interaction and main list cleaner, but do these also work if I sent a single campaign (so not an automation). If not, how can I do that?
Heyhey! Only the Engagement Threshold doesn't work with regular campaigns, as you have to increase the custom field with a math action inside the automation. A workaround for that is to create a super simple 1-step automation that increases the Engagement Threshold custom field, and then whenever you send a regular campaign, you also add the people you've sent it to to this simple automaton 🙃 Hope that helps!
Hi great video! If I want to plan 12 months of restaurant menus in an automation how do I make sure if someone subscribes they start get emails at that weeks menu rather than an outdated one (the start of the flow) so if someone joins in 3 months time, they get that weeks menu as apposed to at the start of the automation which would be outdated ? Hope that makes sense !
About the onboarding automation: what happens If somebody joins your list while in the onboarding process ? Like when he downloads a lead magnet while being in the onboarding process?
@@maxvcollenburg awesome. But I meant sth different: if I am in the onboarding automation right now and in 2 days I decide to download a lead magnet, wouldn’t I then “disrupt” the onboarding process somehow?
The lead magnet delivery & onboarding are two different automations, so you don't have to worry that it "disrupts" the other automation. But you really have to make sure they don't enter the onboarding automation twice. You can do that by adding a if/else to the end of the lead magnet delivery automation that checks if the contact has not entered the onboarding automation 🙃

Why did u set the condition “if opened or clicked any link”. One can only click a link of the email was opened - so getting someone to actually open your email is done with the first step isn’t it?
