You have no idea how much this video helped me. It made me realize trigger finger position is personal and how to combine it with my grip. Awsome video.
Hard to understand why Aaron and this channel don't have more subscribers. Best in depth information on each subject that anyone is going to find on any social media. And I keep finding older gems like this one to review over and again. Thank you, Aaron.
One of the best explanations I've been able to find. I've been trying to convince people of the reality that "how" you press the trigger is irrelevant so long as your grip is correct. Though, Aaron explains it more clearly. Thanks for this video!
Great video. I just found your channel a few weeks ago and find it informative. I never bought into the ride the recoil technique. Thanks for articulating the recoil anticipation technique. It's what I've been naturally doing for the past 30 years. Keep up the great work. I like your style. You're obviously a smart, educated person who is willing to question the establishment. Thank you.
Excellent video, I’ve applied this school Of thought for the past few months in IPSC training and have seen massive improvements especially at distance. Thank you 👍
All the wonderful and beneficial information available on you tube is very confusing!! For the past two days I've been exchanging comments with Cerino Training about trigger control. I finally understood what he was saying. Now you come alone and use a "new" term to me, "reset anticipation". He convinced me to stop "micromanaging the trigger". He said you can shoot faster and better groups his way, after going through a learning curve. He said to follow through your shot and release trigger and quickly pull back to the pressure wall. I'm going to try that tomorrow, Oct. 26th, 2018. (It's raining all day here in LA, lower AL,) I understand that different things work for different shooters, that's why I watch so many different gunner channels. It sounds like "reset anticipation" is another name for "pulling from the pressure wall" One of these days I'll be able to shoot two in center mass and one in the head at 8 yards, constantly. Thank you for your video, I liked and subbed.
A-A-Ron is the best communicator/transfer-er of knowledge on the internet! I watch vids by a couple of what I consider top-notch knowledgeable trainers which I get completely and their techniques work for me. Then I watch Aaron's videos and he breaks down the mechanics and ideas even further without losing you (getting wrapped around the axle). I adjust other's techniques with Aaron's pointers or I switch to what Aaron teaches because it makes more sense and it works better for me. He seems to be able to address a wider audience with myriad issues and solve them within 10 minutes! There is even a DOWNLOAD option for these videos! That is like stealing to me the information is so valuable. I have written this before but will write it again: how is this channel not at least 1-2 million strong? No slam on other channels but this man's teachings, thought processes, research, and examples are first rate with no gimmicks.
I appreciate you making this outstanding video. As a lefty this is extraordinarily helpful. I agree with other comments, he is highly underrated based on all of the training videos online.
Great video! In my department we are trained to use trigger reset. I will only use this for longer shots with more time. I'm really new to the comp game and train with a really good shooter who is working with me to avoid this to save me time and it's been working great.
I love it. For guys there is usually an obvious reason for that. I love your channel man. You truly are a very knowledgeable guy when it comes to firearms. Also, you have are very good at giving examples and explaining things in great detail. I wish that I lived near you so that I could take advantage of your in person trainings. Keep up the great work!
+SageDynamics LOL! Your subtle reference to men's stronger arms! I cracked up right away and my wife took a minute and was like, "what'd he just say?" 😂😂😂
I've been using what you call the 'anticipation' method. I knew it wasn't strict 'reset,' but I'm accurate with it. Good to know it is 'legit'. Great video!
Good Morning Aaron, FYI: After our last exchange of comments, I finally made it to the range. I wanted to practice/learn your trigger control advise. I took 4 targets, 4 boxes of ammo, two guns (security 9, Smith new 2.0) My first box with the 2.0 I shot too fast, holes was all over the target (just as you said would happen) the second box I slowed down, but still let my trigger all the way out and shot from the "wall", a little bit better. I have XS Big Dots on it (Byron Childers is a firm believer in these sights and he has busted the myth that they are not accurate and not good for long distance) and I'm still learning how to use them. So I had a couple of things going against me with my 2.0. I've only had this gun since 4th of this month also, still I've put about 600 rounds through it. My security 9 I've had since May. I've put over 1700 rounds through it. I have green front sights and red rear. It was overcast and did make it the green sight stand out well. I shot both boxes better with it then with the 2.0. All shots were from 8 yards and with the same ammo. Now every time I go to the range, I'm going to keep practicing "your" instruction for trigger control. The term you used "micro managing" the trigger made sense to me. When I was slowly releasing trigger till I either heard or felt the reset, then pulled the trigger, it was just hard to not drop a shot. I don't know what is going on with my keyboard or me. It keep dividing words instead of wrapping them around to the next line. Sorry about that, sir.
I just started shooting a month ago and have been watching a lot of videos. Your are the best and most logical I've come across. Thank you for taking the time to make these, they are extremely helpful. On a side note, you can really shoot, I hope to be that good one day. Thank you again!
I appreciate this. I believe the only time trigger really matters is when you're taking a more precise shot. Grip is paramout to trigger. That is not a normal thing for a pistol, especially using a combat pistol style of . This video describes my thoughts better than I have been able to. Thank Aaron!
I've been professionally shooting for most of my life, and teaching people at a very high level. This is solid information. With that said, I don't think you have to teach yourself "trigger reset anticipation" as I feel that happens naturally as your skill increases and you challenge yourself to shoot faster. I teach trigger reset during my follow-through training and then cadence drills. As you speed up your cadence to the point where you can't keep count (cadence) you naturally surpass trigger reset shooting and move into trigger reset anticipation. Just a nugget of knowledge for ya. Just remember the point he makes several times.....your grip is the key!
Today was my third trip to the range with my Big Dot sights and my second trip using your full release trigger and pull to thee wall system. On my second target I pull my hole finger in the trigger guard and try to move only my front joint of the finger instead of using the front pad of my finger with a 90 degree opening degree opening, finger not touching the pistol. This gave me my best group of the day. I also had a group at about 11 o'clock position. I'm getting a smaller group at the 7 o'clock position. I'll get it soon, after all, it's just my tired trip with the sights. I'll be going back Thur. for another 200 rounds.
I’ve watch at least 5 full videos or rds data on Arron’s channel, and I’m not surprised his SVI 2011 has a rmr. I’d love to see more videos with it and your input of a rmr on a svi. Thank you.
......well I have something new to try. always wondered how you were able to step on the gas as much as you do lol. thanks for the tip. hope to be in a class with you this year
Great video. Would love to get your thoughts on the extended glock gen4 beavertail grips and if you think they help with the grip or if it's just personal preference?
Good point about riding the trigger to reset. I have a Glock 22 that I tried an Edge connector from Ghost in. Unless you let that slide go forward with full velocity, it wouldn't even go all the way into battery until you let loose of the trigger. Not an issue under normal function perhaps, but I can see where it could provide a strange experience is you were riding it and fired a round that didn't have a full powder charge in it.
Wow This is just amazing. simply reducing time to get the next round out. time optimization. This can be applied to most all components of shooting right from the draw.
I’m somewhat of a new shooter and have a problem with flinching the muzzle down when trying to shoot at any sort of speed. If I slow pull the trigger there is no flinch but on quick follow up shots I can’t seem to stop dipping the muzzle down. Do you have a video on this or any helpful tips? Thanks
Jesus christ this guys mannerisms and vernacular remind me so much of my brother. I feel like I literally just watched my brother teach me about trigger control. P.s. this video was fantastic
What is the best way to learn to control the trigger? As a new shooter, I have found there are only two safe ways for me to fire the gun. 1. Pull the trigger and fully release and move my finger completely off the trigger. 2. Pull the trigger and keep it held all the way back until the recoil is over and the gun has settled down. When I partially release to the reset point as soon as the round as fired, about once in every 10 rounds, the gun will fire unexpectedly from the gun bouncing the trigger off my finger. Am I doing it wrong, or is this just a matter of practice to learn better recoil control?
As always - great video Prof. Cowan. So how to retrain this old dog? Rhythm exercises - giving it gas, sharp target focus instead of front sight focus, shooting a lot of string 5 rounds+ Am I thinking in a general direction?
Go check out "Kyle Defoor talks about Speed Shooting". Defoor really breaks down getting those mental hitches out of the way of getting to go really fast.
Maybe "finger slap" is a better term? Let the trigger slap your finger then you know it's ready for the next press. My brother recently got his first pistol and was having a hard time with trigger control and I offered similar advise, focus on the grip first and get that huge group small, then work on the trigger and get the small group tiny. A couple other tips that I think you have covered like using subconscious body alignment (fingers and thumbs) to your advantage helped his groups also. Of course the best advise is always shoot more.
Aaron, With regards to grip, my edc is a gen 4 g19. I'm a right hand shooter. Trying to get my index finger on my support hand ( left) in a good position around the grip along with my other fingers and not interfere with my trigger finger is a challenge. At times I will ride the front of the trigger guard, but have had folks with considerable more experience tell me to not do that. What are your thoughts. Thanks!
This channel is highly underrated. The amount of subscribers does not reflect quality of content. Very informative and consistent
I agree. Just found SageDynamics and awesome videos.
Aaron is literally giving away some of the best information, for free here.
"One arm is generally stronger than the other, and for guys there's usually an obvious reason for that." LOL I see what you did there...
🤣😄😄😄😄🤣🤣
So wait... women dont masturbate? Lmfao
😂😂😂
Scale difference between baked bean and an egg plant lol
I guess he doesn't know the women I know...
"For guys there's an obvious reason for that" that made me laugh so hard coming from such a serious dude
"To get them to stop doing whatever caused me to shoot them in the first place" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. I like this guy
Okay, that's the best explanation I've ever experienced. Most thorough. Most logical. Easiest for me to understand. Thank you for such a cool video!
Couldn't have explained my experience better!
You have no idea how much this video helped me. It made me realize trigger finger position is personal and how to combine it with my grip. Awsome video.

good tips

.....wait a minute, I think that may have been a dick joke.
Robert Gatewood yep
Robert Gatewood
I use My support hand.
Gotta practice ambi manipulations.
Just got it, lmao

Clearly You haven't been "training" enough lately. 😆
Damn you got a fast finger! And your groups are amazing for that speed!
One of the best explanations I've been able to find. I've been trying to convince people of the reality that "how" you press the trigger is irrelevant so long as your grip is correct. Though, Aaron explains it more clearly. Thanks for this video!

Your subject matter knowledge, enthusiasm, and ability to teach is absolutely incredible.
This is sooooooo logical, that no one ever talks about! Love it! Thank you, man!!!
This is the most awesome / brilliant explanation I have ever seen, and that is irrespective of the specific content!

Man i love your shirt. It means the world to me Christian here from Egypt. You definitely put a smile on my face
That was an interesting and fresh approach on a critically important yet often misunderstood aspects of marksmanship. Very well done.
Aaron , your context is head and shoulders above many and I mean many, instruction videos I have watched.
Great instruction. One of the best if not the best instructions on trigger control. Thank you.

Awesome video brother as always I love the way you explain and exercise the concept of what your telling us thank you
Dude!! You're a BEAST! Some of those scenes looked like you were shooting a full auto! One day I might be half as fast as you. Great video.
I always rode the reset, never thought there was any proper alternative. Very informative.
By far best trigger control video I've seen.
This has helped me tremendously. Thanks Aaron.
I wonder how many x300's Aaron has?
I've been using what you call the 'anticipation' method. I knew it wasn't strict 'reset,' but I'm accurate with it. Good to know it is 'legit'. Great video!

chad davis I’m a month in and I’m nailing targets and grouping very well. These guys on RUclips are awesome for that I’d still be low and to the left.

Everyone who has a handgun should watch this, he awesome
Excellent video! Informative as always.
"For guys there's an obvious reason for that" You're not the only one that's ambidextrous, teddy brosevelt
very informative! exactly what I need to learn/practice. thank you
Once again, GREAT, Informational packed Video..... Thank You Sir!
Detailed yet not overly drawn out
Why is it that the more useful and practical a channel is the more YT shadow bans it?
Don’t usually comment on videos but damn this guy is on point!. Need to go train with this guy in person.
THANK YOU for defining what Slapping the trigger means!

Good stuff. I have found that when I was set with my grip/stance the trigger was less important.
New Sub because this video & no doubt future videos are & will be phenomenal instruction!
Dat one handed rapid fire doe!!!!!!
William Sack Oh the accuracy! That poor piece of cardboard! Lmao dudes a fuckin monster!
Wow This is just amazing. simply reducing time to get the next round out. time optimization. This can be applied to most all components of shooting right from the draw.
Thanks for the great tips, Aaron!! New subscriber!
Best. Damn. Gun. Channel. On. RUclips. Period.
Clearly a complete view with all proven angles. Great
Aaron,
What's a good place to find books on shooting and shooting fundamentals? Amazon or some other store?
Thank you
Everything he said is true and also build up grip strength. It’s something to me, that is severely overlooked.
Aaron what do you think about comps on handguns? I can't help but notice everyone is doing something called the "Rowland Special"
Makes sense, great video bro. Thanks.
Thanks
Awesome amount of info. on trigger control.
Been waiting for this video from you! I watch them all, wish you were closer so I could attend a class!
Outstanding tutorial accurate and informative
You are on the spot my man....
great content, thank you for sharing.
Great lesson! Heading to the range brother…
"Finger placement is personal". Great video.
This made me lol cause I'm a pervert =P
Thats what she said...
Great Video Thanks Aaron.. 👍
What holster do you use for that G17 and light?
Lmaooooo. . you had me at the one arm stronger comment.
Jesus christ this guys mannerisms and vernacular remind me so much of my brother. I feel like I literally just watched my brother teach me about trigger control. P.s. this video was fantastic

what aftermarket barrel you using aaron
Hi Aaron, follow and like your video's great info, are you using stock triggers in you glocks ?
Great Video Brother!
Love your trigger video
As always - great video Prof. Cowan. So how to retrain this old dog? Rhythm exercises - giving it gas, sharp target focus instead of front sight focus, shooting a lot of string 5 rounds+ Am I thinking in a general direction?
Janez Novak isolate the skill. Work on the trigger without worrying about accuracy at first. Build the speed then work the target.
SageDynamics thanks
Go check out "Kyle Defoor talks about Speed Shooting". Defoor really breaks down getting those mental hitches out of the way of getting to go really fast.
Kylef7735 Thanks. It's simmilar to Haley's rytem drills.

How is it your shot placement is still so on point, regardless of distance... ? POA and POI changes with distance.
Aaron,
With regards to grip, my edc is a gen 4 g19.
Thanks!
Eric Hertel luckily for guys like you they now have the G19X!!!!
my trigger finger start hurting after shooting over a hundred rounds with my glock 22 can u tell me what I'm doing wrong
Fantastic vid.
Great video!
