Absolutely incredible! As a retired Occupational Therapist it warms my heart to see an active and involved parent that has made the decision to make their disabled child's life as normal as possible. Granted the majority of people do not have the financial means to make this a reality but kudos to them for not placing her in a care facility and leaving her there. God bless you and I know she is thrilled to be adventuring with her lovely parents. Great camper set up as well.
I mentor Occupational Therapists every year, talking to them about daily life with disabilities. How to think outside of the box to solve problems, and how to help improve the quality of life. And yes, its hard to see people who struggle just to get the money together for a 7500 dollar wheel chair, afford a customized camper.
I was hoping there would be some occupational therapists, speech therapists, recreational therapists, physical therapists, adaptive physical education specialists, you name it, watching this video. It warmed my heart as well to hear Bart and Abigail’s story.
Yes, any adaptive equipment can be quite expensive!
@@PlayingwithSticks Been mentoring OT students now for 8 years, the professor was teasing me this year saying, 2 more and they'll have to give me a 10 year plaque and watch. LOL.
@jenniferstewarts4851 now you have me even more confused! You’ve got to tell me your profession.
Several things: 1) I had not heard of this manufacturer before so I'm glad you did a video to showcase them, as I like their design a lot. 2) I love that Bart was familiar with so many aspects and details of the product and accessories. He was clearly deeply involved with the build and is a true gearhead! 3) What an amazing father!! He obviously has the means to make great accommodations for his daughter but incorporating camping and adventuring like this is truly inspiring. I can only imagine how excited Abigail must get for these trips! He has such a great demeanor and I actually enjoyed listening to him (unlike many other owners talking about their rigs or setups haha!). I hope that Trail Marker brings them years of wonderful family memories. Great video Drew!!
Yes, Bart knew this trailer more than most owners we have talked with. You definitely picked up on that right, he must’ve been very involved in the build. Glad you enjoyed this video. Feedback like this makes it all worth it.
RM. Thanks so much for your kind words. Very much appreciated.
I obviously came here to learn about the trailer but I’m coming away from it going to learn more about Abby’s condition. Thank you to her family for sharing their story and amazing camp setup!
Thanks to you and Drew ! Yes Abi was born with Rett Syndrome. It's caused by a tweak on the X chromosome at birth. Do to female's having two X chromosome s they generally survive the birth. So circling back to the Greatfull Dead. " That's right woman are smarter (Stronger)"
I want everything good in this World for his Daughter.
Quiet hero and man of character. Everyday we encounter heros and we have no idea what they have done or are going through.
So true.
THANK YOU FOR FINALLY HAVING A TRAILER MADE FOR HANDICAP PEOPLE..
God bless this man and his family. I love this setup!
Agreed!
I feel like God is not very good for working in this "mysterious way". Prayers probably are not helping...
I'd like to echo the sentiments of others. It's wonderful how he includes his daughter in these activities! 😇
Agreed!
Love this guy. Your daughter is lucky to have you as her dad. -Fellow Deadhead
Very nice of you to say this.
Regardless of what is available right now, thank you for this. I love this man. My wife's youngest sister has a downs boy and twenty years ago I made a video for the kids that they loved but I noticed very few men were involved. This man is hands on and I applaud him. What a father.
I know he probably wasn’t too thrilled about the attention he would be getting from this video. But it’s these unsung heroes that need a little love as well. I love that this gave us the opportunity to highlight what he’s doing and to thank him for being such a great father.
Thanks Jeff. Next time I do something that makes my wife mad I am going to show her this post 😉
This is awesome! Thanks for this great tour!
I work with people with dissabilities. I know how difficult is for them to accept their limitations yet work very hard to overcome it. I enjoyed the video about the custom made trailer with all the details made, but also loved how he thought in his handicapped daughter in first place. Thanks for sharing!
The coolest small camper I've ever seen 👍👍
Thx man we are super pleased how it turned out
Hero dad!❤
Truly!
A great father you are. God bless you and your daughter.
He truly is!
That's one seriously impressive rig. I am an outdoor only cook when camping, but I love the idea of indoor coffee. He's right, that'd be awesome to have coffee before you go out in the morning. I don't usually like indoor showers on campers, but that one is sweet. He said it was small, but I think it's GIGANTIC.
What an amazing father. His home is so beautiful and the view is perfect. I'd never leave. Yo'd see me every morning drinking my tea staring at those mountains.
Thx Amanda I really appreciate this comment. Lots of morning coffee and evening IPAs on that front porch that's for sure. Abi loves moon rise views the most
Amazing father! Love the camper. The floor plan is great.
We agree!
Although I’ve never met this man there’s nothing I’d enjoy more than sharing a plate of turkey at thanksgiving with him. I hope one day I have the opportunity to meet his college aged son, and maybe even take him camping 😆
Thanks for your kind words. Nothing better in life then breaking bread with your college-aged sons close friends. These kinds of friendships can last a lifetime. Next summer we will go camping and drink many beers !
You have a nice setup and your day is very fortunate to be able to get out and enjoy nature.
Great to see mobility options out there! Thank you for posting about it
Great video and GREAT Father and Family!!!! Wish you many happy trips and we will have to get together out there for some fun!!!
William thanks. Hope to see you out here in Zion soon
That's an thoughtfully laid out trailer. I love the wood interior and the little details. It does make it look rustic and homey. That's a wonderful family too.
God Bless and think that would be an AUsome trailer for me to pull and when I take trips to my Nieces. Thank you!😎💖
Thanks so much for sharing.
Great rig and great Dad.❤
I couldn’t agree more!
WOW 💥! I could almost live in that.
Right!
What an awesome dad! Trailer cool too I guess
I am completely humbled! That is heart warming…thank you for sharing that
Glad you enjoyed getting a peek in to Abigail’s camping trailer. This was a video that I really enjoyed making. Well, I enjoyed making all of them, but this was really special.
Extremely nice the way you have it set up for your needs! I love how you have made it easy for your family to spend time outdoors to add to your quality of life. Looks like the best life to me.💚
God bless this family. Thank you for sharing
Your an angel God's blessing stay safe be strong❤❤❤
Thank you Tina. Abi is the angel I am just along to assist her
That's an awesome trailer for an awesome kid.
And you're an awesome dad.
Love it! This was such a neat video to make.
It really was a pleasure Drew!! Thanks Frank. Now I have to convince my wife I am an awesome husband
@bartman1857 😂 😂
You are a Awesome Dad!!!
I agree Blue. Drew is a great dad and husband
Beautiful setup! He's thought of everything, it seems! 😊
He truly has
I have a lot of great memories in a camper just like this. What a great guy!
Well then I promise more memories in the future. Maybe a trip this coming April 20th (4/20)!
Upstairs bedroom, sitting room and a decking. Nice. With some sliding clear panels could have a sun room all in one. Lots of potential.
Very good dad.
Truly!
Great trailer and great dad
The trailer is great, but the man is amazing.🙏.
Well said!
Thank you for this video! It is a message that needs to be heard--acknowledging the parents who work so hard to give their kids a full life and giving hope and encouragement to parents who are hesitant to try camping. We camped in a pop-up with 3 kids including our daughter who had a rare chromosomal syndrome and lived with severe multiple disabilities to the age of 27. We made a lot of accommodations and did it on a budget but it was totally worth it. We stuck with campgrounds with hook-ups as we needed power to medical equipment. Love your whole set up especially the shower! Wishing you many more happy travels!!
I am so glad to hear this video was relatable. Love hearing how you made this work on a budget. That budget is crucial. And I think it would be easy to use a limited budget as excuse. I bet it was hard in the moment, but I bet looking back now, You’re so glad you did it.
Mary thank you very much. Wow you have lived on our shoes and vice-versa. You know first hand the look on your daughters face watching to moon rise and or sun set with her. When Abi and I go out on our daddy-daughter- Labrador only trips I swear she enjoys being off grid with out a soul around more then i do. Good luck!
Thanks for posting this! I don’t see a lot of trailer or van videos geared to people with mobility issues.
A nice mix of stand up space and toy hauler room. As he talked about all the accessories he uses at camp, I’m not surprised at his set up time. It would be nice to see a camper like this really design around wheelchair access/space.
Great dad. Love the custom Grateful Dead touches. At least three I saw in the video.
That’s funny I didn’t even catch them. Good eye. Do you consider yourself a deadhead? Maybe that’s why I couldn’t see them.
That is a good eye Tarriver.... Steel Your Face and Terrepon Turtles and you even caught the lightning bolt on the hitch. Ya I was a bit coy with Drew on my old hippie deadhead core ;)😂
@bartman1857 caught the bolt on the hitch first. That is by far the most original and a fantastic add to the design.
@playingwithsticks I’m a latecomer to the Grateful Dead but have quickly learned deadheads generally have a positive vibe and it clearly stood out with this kind and loving dad.
We have been going to grateful dead cover band outdoor concerts since I can remember. Not a deadhead myself due to my ADD not allowing me to focus on long jam sessions, but like you said I love the vibe, the people, and I love the music. @@tarriverrunningco6665
@@PlayingwithSticks I suggest checking out bluegrass versions of the dead. Lots of great bands out there. . . Grateful Grass, Grass is Dead, Shakedown Strings, etc. Gives of fun upbeat twist on the classics. It is a fun rabbit hole to go down. Start with Keller Williams Grateful Grass.
Very cool, thank you for sharing!
Thank you sooo much for this video. Has given our family some goals and resources!
As usual amazing story! Great work, story telling, videography, and editing work. 🎉
I’m always excited when I know someone got to watch this video. I find this to be a true testament of a real man. Such a great example of a father.
Absolutely, love of a father for his daughter was truly heart warming. You should get into making short documentaries! 👍
Thanks for your kind words you guys. Not sure if I deserve them.
First off, two thumbs up to those parents! Much love and positive energy!
The trailer does look like it fits their needs. I figure I could probably cruise around the United States and do a few back roads and comfort. I am a little late to the show but I sure do enjoy your videos.
So-much-WIN with this one!!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Nice to see you again, Drew! 😊
Same to you!
Nature is wheelchair accessible!
Absolutely! Love seeing you guys on here. We linked you in the description. Got a little crazy with all the links. Bart and his family have a lot of really cool gear. Thank you so much for all you do in the world of adaptive sports and recreation. Can't thank you enough.
@@PlayingwithSticks You should come on an adventure with us.
Ryan very eloquent statement. Glad I met you and this chair
Booyah 👊🏽😁👍🏽🇺🇸
I’m looking at the trailer but still can’t believe how big and useful this rig looks! It’s definitely a great option when you learn the rules of the game - with this I mean that it’ll take time and effort to have everything in place and organized with a mind focused on the capabilities and needs of someone else and yours as well to make it work. It’s very loable what they’ve achieved on the spirit of the adventure and brining the best of this life which is camping and sharing with out beloved ones.
All the add-ons in the trailer are freaking awesome - I think I want a toy hauler more than ever!
Muchas gracias Drew for bringing this great video and remind us that there’s always a how and a way for every game of life.
Saludos compa!!
So impressed with this
man, his daughter and this trailor. Oh and where was that video taken? breathtaking
Beautiful Utah. Even the neighborhoods are beautiful!
Very cool trailer. All the details and features are incredible. I'm also a sucker for all the gear and little accessories he's got. You're going to be spending time setting up whatever rig you've got IMO. $13k for the empty shell is compelling actually - that's not as much as I would have thought. In this one's case, its not just inflation you're seeing on costs but there's an aluminum situation unfolding that's going to make things more challenging. What a devoted and loving father also. Sort of the added benefit of doing these reviews you do with individuals and their trailers is a little bit of a different take that I think has a lot of benefits. We get to see the practical applicability of these units and meet the interesting people that own them. Thanks for the video!
On another note - here's a video my brother and I did for a company in Utah earlier this year - I'm hoping to be able to start doing this as a thing (I'm the geo):

Thx Carl....very informative video thanks for sharing!!
Very nice set-up
We had a 6x10 cargo trailer conversion, but this thing is sweet.
Thank you for the time you put into helping strangers find the perfect outdoor set up. I have been looking for almost two years now, and your videos are very helpful! Almost took the plunge on the MeerKat, but I just do so much off roading. I fell in love with this trailer, however, as you noted, they are no longer taking orders, and since yesterday, their website has been down. I do hope that soon they will be able to take new orders. Thanks again, and if I need to order anything for my outdoor travels, I will be doing it through your links.
I'm really glad to hear you are enjoying these videos. When I called the manufacturer they sounded very confident that they would start production again. So it may take a while, but I think they will be back in business.
I have a neighbour in the same situation, child wise, as this man. Much respect, many good wishes. I'd like to think I'm a caring man but I don't know if I could handle what they do.
Camping can be quite taxing as is. You can tell Bart is a very patient and loving man. Like you said, this would take a lot of dedication and selflessness
Thx metax...you would step up I am sure@
Excelente ❤
Thanks!
Thank you so much Brad! Greatly appreciated. We will be flying back to Thailand tomorrow morning. You know what I’ll be using this money for!
Have a safe trip and be sure to send me some pics of your favorite coffee's and cafe's!!@@PlayingwithSticks
@jgrant4520 absolutely, looking forward to it! I’ll try to sneak in a waterfall or two this year as well
It may be all straight lines, angles and lots of grey but with the wood, exterior graphics, layout and customisation, this camper has a lot of character! It's doubly great that helps Abigail have experiences that we take for granted.
I reckon this camper is a great example of how a bespoke camper or something that is built to enable a specific lifestyle or specific type of trip is worth it once you're able to build it. Your videos always get me thinking about how I would have built it (hence my frequent nit-picking in the comments 😄) and in this case, the only thing that I'd do differently would be to swop out the articulating ball coupling - they can be a bit of a nightmare to decouple on unlevel ground or if the hitch is under even the lightest of loads.
BTW that Coleman oven is pretty good cheap piece of kit. It's become a mainstay in my camping setup because it packs up smaller and it's lighter than a spun steel camp oven and there's nothing better than the luxury of fresh-baked croissants at the campsite 😁
Ess...love this comment. I do have a standard ball hitch with a curt sway bar for high wind road travel. I just swap out to Articulating hitch when I hit the dirt.
You know me, I love the nitpicking. So I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts. I never would’ve even considered those issues with an articulated hitch. I’ve only use them a handful of times, so I’m still a newbie to that style hitch. We own the omnia oven, which is something the community talked us into getting. Like you, we’ve really enjoyed baked goods at the campsite. I’m going to have to look more into this Coleman oven. I really like the price, now I’m interested to see how small it folds down. Or does it fold down?
You are correct on decoupling. I have it down now. I don't even try to decouple unless all pressure is off of hitch. By raising front tires on tow vehicle it will lower hitch and one can leave trailer attached when camping. I don't think my trailer would have made it through my last trip up cedar pocket road in the virgin River gorge with out an articulating hitch
It's only the articulating ball hitches that have given me trouble and there are ways around it but I hate fuss more than I like a challenge so mine was quick to be replaced with a DO35 😁
I have a spun steel camp oven that would be similar to the Omnia oven and is better than the Coleman at certain baking tasks but the Coleman's best "feature" is that folds down to around 13"x13"x3" and since it's square-ish, it makes good use of spaces that might have been wasted like the gap under my pop-up camper's sink trap so I'm more inclined to bring it along.
Not a bad camper. The best part is it allows his entire family to be able to get out and enjoy God’s creation. Good job to the company for not taking too many orders. Some of the lead times out there are crazy long.
I couldn’t have said it better my friend. Good seeing you on here.
Thanks Garrett! Yes Trail Marker is doing it right!
That is really awesome
Agreed! It was really fun getting to Bart and Abby’s relationship and how they’re making camping work for their family

Yet another fantastic example as to why we need a variety of different camping trailers on the market. Everyone has different wants and needs. That said, there is still a terrible shortage of choices for those that are wheelchair bound. Especially on the European market. Whilst there are similar designs to this trailer on the European market, the only mainstream caravan (not off-road) that resembles this to my knowledge, is the Knaus Deseo. The only downside to that particular trailer is that it is a twin axle, although its overall length is around the 6 metre (approx. 19.6 feet) mark. The Deseo is primarily intended as a motorcycle carrying caravan. As such, it has an upward lifting tailgate and the ramps (two are optional) are akin to those you will find on plant trailers or car transporters. Unfortunately, Knaus do not mention, even in passing, the advantages to those families who have a disabled, wheelchair bound family member. To my mind, we still regretfully live in an age where touting something as being accessible to disabled people, seemingly still puts off able-bodied customers. There is also the possibility that no one has simply even thought of it. Such a shame. Nevertheless, the Deseo and some others do at least in practice offer a choice to some people with special needs. We that are blessed with no mobility issues need to remember that leisure and the outdoors are for everyone. Not just us.
Thank you so much for sharing all of this. I know folks in your area will appreciate, knowing this option exists. Like you said, I love seeing people work to make the outdoors accessible for all of us.
Well said !!
This trailer reminds me of the ATC all aluminum toy haulers.
I think we’re going to sell the Casita 17’ and buy an ATC.
Good catch as the all aluminum chassis of the trail marker is similar to the ATC. Biggest difference is the trail marker has light weight frp side walls as apposed to the aluminum walls of an ATC. I looked hard at the ATC Quest motorcycle trailer but at the time thier were issues with welds cracking on chassis plus it was a pavement princess no ground clearance. But if your hauling heavy toys you need a trailer designed for that weight. Check out Rover Off-Road out of twin falls ID.
I love this trailer. Its a great design. Now i have seen something like this with a "screen/tent" around and over the loading ramp, giving a "back porch feel" but it also could act as an "air lock" where you move the wheelchair up into the screened area, then, move inside and open the inside.
This porch feel also allowed for the wheel chair to be pushed up to the table without breaking down the table to get it in for eating.
This is one of the cases where i personally might have sacraficed some cargo space... and left one side of the sleeping area open so that with the sofa and table set up, the chair could still "pass inside" but thats just me.
While a great set up for someone with disabilities, its a "support dependent" set up. it requires someone else to do all the work. its not an automated system where someone with the disabilities could just push buttons to lower the landing gear and self level... then lower the rear ramp by remote, etc. And breaking down and setting up of the bed just to get in and out for a disabled person would be hard.
Really good points on that last paragraph. Bart alluded to it quite often when I was filming him…Making a fully self supporting set up could work, but it would add a lot of weight to the trailer and cost. But the fact that it can be done, that’s what I like to hear.
Jennifer great points and thanks. Our set up is for able bodied car takers and our daughter.
@@bartman1857 I know, i'm just pointing out that while it will add weight a few small changes could make it friendly even for an independent disabled person.
@@PlayingwithSticks Yep, its one of the advantages to this kind of trailer. unlike the "larger ones" that not only can have stairs inside... but worse, very narrow walkway spaces.
the shell buildout option is a GREAT option for people to customize to what ever level of disabilities and support they need.
@@bartman1857 ohhh, now i'm thinking... ok picture the entire "bed" being re-designed so its on rails with a pully system. during the day, the bed is lifted up flush to the roof allowing clean access for the wheelchair with the dinette being able to be set up as needed... yep added weight but quicker access... and great for those with limited mobility because they could move the bed themselves without strain or worry for coming and going.
Hi, thank you for the video. Very interesting! Can you review the Beway teardrops trailers that come with bathroom…. I saw it on Myles RV RUclips channel… thx
So is it that the family found a small business that builds as you need or was the business thinking about possible customer needs? Either way I love that someone is addressing that some of us move differently and that they still want to camp. It is a concern I have faced and I am excited that if needed there is a solution
It is the first one. A small business that builds to your needs. They primarily work on big government contracts. Military I believe. But in the slow times they build trailers for the general public. It is a pretty neat business model. Essentially they found a way to keep their employees employed during the slower periods.
Love that they were smart to look for a way to fit in the market
@miriamkenrick3971 i’ve seen this business model a few times now and I think it is really caring. And forward thinking.
Very true Drew!

Please tell May and the kids I said hi. 😊
Will do. They are running around like crazy getting ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow is the big day we head back to Thailand.
@@PlayingwithSticks Oh, wow! That's awesome. Wish I were going!
I must have mentioned that I worked there a couple of times in the late 1990s. Bangkok, Hat Yai, Satun, and Songkhla. Upgrading and repairing telecom equipment.
The people were and the food was magnificent! Though I'm not sure I can handle tom yum soup anymore. 😊
✨❤️✨🙏
👍
I just tried connecting to there site -- did they go belly up?
They are actually fully in business. They spend 90% of the time working on government military contracts I believe. They created this business just to give their employees some work when the government contracts are low. When I called them a few month ago they were getting ready to put the trailers back into production.
A seemingly wonderful family and an awesome looking trailer. Just got on their website, man that is a mess. Hard to sort what it what and get a general idea of pricing or anything useful if interested in the product.
Jeff thank you ! I here you all the trailers on the website are older models. I am sure they will update when they start taking orders. Just to give you an idea on 2021 pricing on my trailer. It was 13k for the gutted unit. With the wetbath, stikwood, timbrens, furnace, stove , graphics etc I was near 40 k. Then I added all the crazy expensive stuff like RTT, victron, lithium, awning. So total a bit over 50k
@@bartman1857 thanks for the update. I totally understand them not taking orders if they are backed up. But getting a general idea of pricing is super helpful to get a general idea of when feasible for me (I know it is likely significantly more).
@jeffreyt7177 Do to the customization it's just hard to say the cost. Mine is likely the most you could possibly spend on a Trail Marker 😉 Also keep in mind Rollingstar also makes huge commercial trailers for utilities and the government. They are a solid company that will be around in the future.
The website to this trailer Build, Trail marker is not available. Is there a better link?
Rollingstar MFG is the company that has always built the Trailer Marker model. I know they have been planning to consolidate both websites and this maybe the reason the Trailer Marker Outdoors website is down. I will let folks know when things get figured out.

I wear a leg brace from polio and I love camping, but my husband‘s gone now so no camping. when you’re disabled, it’s disheartening because nothing is made for you along these lines unless you have a lot of money to spend. Cost a lot to be disabled and you want to have fun. God bless these parents. They do this for their daughter. I kind of felt like I was just a burden when I was growing up.
Good points. It really is expensive. And yes, God bles these parents. Love what they are doing together as a family.
Thank you for your comments. I obviously don't know your situation but my hope and gut feeling is you were not a burden at all. Good luck!
One thing I have learned from your videos is that everyone has a different definition of camping. The owner here has so many add ons that this is my definition of glamping. The basic setup works great for his situation. It's nice that the company is not taking orders until backorders are filled, but it would have been nice if they could have given you current price range. Nice looking small camper.
Yes, the current prices would have been nice. I feel like I almost got her to say it. But, then she got nervous and said they couldn't provide it. I understand though, they don't want to put something out there and then have to change it again when they decide to start taking orders.
I feel the same. I couldn’t find the pricing on their website and they aren’t taking any new orders because the demand
Yes, they used to have all the pricing up there when orders were being taken. You can actually see the placeholder for the pdfs on the website where they used to be@@fondabigbee5828
Anyone else hitting a dead end when trying to open the company's website? Just wondering if they went under.
Their website has been like this for a while. They work off of government contracts and when the work slows down to keep their employees getting paid, they transition over to these trailers. So basically they’re operating, but only at certain times. Quite an interesting business model.
Their website doesn't work. I wonder if they went out of business.
Oh strange They said they were working on that’s they are not out of business, but they are not currently taking orders. These guys spend the majority of their time working on government contracts, and when business is low, they switch to the trailer side.
It seems they’re not taking orders and I can’t find the pricing…why do these companies make simple hard !
There’s a little more to the story. These guys are actually being really responsible. Keep watching the video I explain it in there.
Considering that it's addressing special needs it looks like a pretty nice camper......I kept thinking Anti-Shanty the whole time though ....
Hi Bird...love the AntiShanty and its made in Utah. It's does share an aluminum chassis with the Trail Marker but I believe has different side walls. No gray tank or wet bath. Much narrower. More expensive but a very cool build.
One of these days I will include Antishanty's Rigid Roof model. Like you said, I see the similarities.
Bonus points for the AntiShanty name they gave it....@@bartman1857
I'd love to see it!@@PlayingwithSticks
I shot it. Now to just get it edited one of these days. @@BirdPhish
How are you guys doing today I miss your kids
Life has been busy, but we are doing well. We fly out tomorrow morning to Thailand. Our other life begins in 24 hours 😂 thanks for asking, we really appreciate it.
Total shoe😢 Case
Maybe a shoe case with a cool slope and tounge box on it? I fully admit this trailer is not for everyone. Let's just say it's not super modern. What's your favorite off road-ish trailer?
