Rip Taylor was "one of a kind", just exceptional in every way and much underrated, no one could ever come close to the Man! He had a wonderful attitude towards people and loved what he was doing, thank you Rip for the memories.........
Rip Taylor was on all the talk shows, variety shows, celebrity roasts, game shows, as well as guest star roles in practically every sitcom on television in the 70's. He was unavoidable.
Rip Taylor always cracked me up. I loved his appearance in the Cheech and Chong movie from 1982 "Things Are Tough All Over". The pair are stranded in the desert and in bad shape and Taylor comes along and picks them up in his car. Taylor proceeds to launch into his pun and prop comedy routine and Tommy Chong is all but begging to die as the trip proceeds and Taylor won't stop talking.
I was too young to know that there was this thing with Paul Lynde and Rip and Liberace and so forth. I just thought he's just this remarkably exuberantly joyously happy fellow.
Or are you saying that you didn't realize he's gay. Just being a homosexual doesnt make you so joyful and "flamboyant" I believe that was his personality. I first understood that they all had discussed being apart of something the way your comment suggests.
Welcome to the REAL world, you see... those born later on this planet have some work to do... you must Discover (first shut your mouth) and discover and most of all RESPECT those before you!! Chum.
This is a transition time between old school shtick and new school brainy - Taylor / Letterman. Rip was wacky and out of his head. today’s world needs material like this cuz we’re all in our heads too much.
@@dongiller Oh my gosh. I'm sorry. I meant Rip Taylor's entrance song the band played starting 0:34? Thank you for introducing me to that other great song and band tho!

Rip Taylor , Rip Torn..they don't make Rips like they used to..
We still have Let one...
Amen
Rest in paradise you beautiful soul.
A real one of a kind. There will never be another Rip Taylor
A legend
Without Rip Taylor there'd be no Carrot Top.
Or Jarrod Carmichael
A Rip Taylor appearance on the Tonight Show was must-see TV back in the day.

Still holds up! Showbiz Taylor!!

@@Bill_Woo Your second description is members of the Democrat party.
Wow, I thought Carrot Top was original. Now I found his precursor.

@Real_Imitation LOL
RIP, Rip.
LEGEND
5:14 I laughed out loud. My mom and I loved his beauty pageant show when I was younger. May they both rest in peace
So now we know where Carrot Top and Gallagher got their skits.
His material wasn't really funny. But, somehow HE made it funny. His persona.
That's the trait of a good comedian.
My 24th birthday !! May 18th, 1987....* Rip was classic !!
I was 13 days old when this aired!
I was 31, your point is?
didn’t know he died, i was waiting for him on the end of jackass forever, rip, Rip Taylor.
rip rip
He really chucks that confetti
I only seen rip in Jackass 1 ending
He’s hilarious!! Didn’t even know it
LOL
Absolute GENIUS
thanks, don. right, RIP rip. i forgot about the glitter/confetti he used to throw around. silly
Are you kidding, he made a career out of confetti...
I was first introduced to Rip Taylor with his appearances in the Jackass movies.
Without RIP wouldn't have carrot top or Gallagher
*gets in time machine* sounds like an easy fix

The NY Times brought me here. I was in LV on business in the same hotel when Late Night was taping. Couldn't get into the show, though.
I can't say he was a good comedian, but he still makes me laugh
carrot top stole his act......
I think Gallagher nipped a few things, too.
ya I was just thinking that
@@BernieOliver Bullshit, Gallagher never ripped him off. I always find it stunning how people don't "get" Gallagher.
@@Bill_Woo I get Gallagher, worked on a few of his shows, and you're just batshit crazy wrong!
@@BernieOliver So a lighting/sound technician is an authorship and creative content authority. Well I'm just batshit crazy then!
Thanks a lot for posting. As I recall, the word "Jesus" wasn't bleeped in the original broadcast.
This is the original broadcast. It never aired again anywhere.
I guess my mind filled it in, then!
@@dongiller Did only a small number of episodes never air more than once?
Of the 1,809 shows (plus the second film festival), 859 were repeated on the bird network at least once.
Of the 951 shows that never reaired on the bird network, 164 of those did air on either A&E or E! Which leaves 787 LNs that aired only once.
Just seen him on super Dave. Nice to see he still has the same act
No pun intended ( Rip would have like that one)
Mark Younger No Pun in 10 Did. 😏
"Head and smolders" 😂😂😂
A legend in comedy
I totally forgot that Leno stole that from Dave, too
FAST AS EVER!!!
Carrot Top must have gotten his start by watching Rip.
I see from where "Carrot Top" took his influence. 🧑🚒
Funny guy!!
this stuff is hilarious
I give you Carrot Top.
Rip
Dave was on "The Rip Taylor Show"?
There was no such television show.
I KNOW that.
you First Lady lol omg.... rip mr. rip lol
I got money to gamble. legend
He made prop comedy funny.
He should have played "The Joker"
I forgot how good he was
Oh no! The cowardly lion had a brother!
Carrot Top’s dad
Name of song at beginning?

@@dongiller Yes! You are my favorite person today. Thank you for that!
Carrot-top's a joke thief!
A lot of pun
Lol
Cocaine is a hellava drug 😂
Rip Taylor gives no fucks
Is it just me, or were there some words bleeped (or at least cut) from the audio?
i think "jesus" used as an exclamation was off limits in that time
Elton John of comedy
One of the gayest men to ever walk the face of the earth.
