Rodney was like a joke machine gun. I still miss him
Where I live, we get Carson reruns every night at 10pm and easily the best ones are Rodney appearances. Seeing Carson just sit back and watch Dangerfield rattle off one-liners the way he does is absolute joy.
@@Genious.
Johnny was the KING of Late Night TV
Dangerfield's act was so perfect that I really respect him.
With unlimited ammo
Back when late night was funny and no one was safe from comedy. Anything or anyone could be made fun of.
There was no one like Rodney. His mind was a lightning storm of one-liners.
When I see Rodney Dangerfield, I just start laughing even before he speaks.
I was lucky enough to see him live on one of his tours back in the 80's . He was one of the Best.
I miss the 80's / 90's as a teen. Dave made me professional smartass and I love it. 😁
Rodney made it cool to be a lovable loser.
His wife’s cooking was so bad, the flies pitched in to fix the screen door
Yes. And if he left dental floss on the table the roaches would hang themselves.
Rodney was and will be forever the best that ever was. He had a 15 mile per hour body with a speed of light mind. A comedic genius without peer.
He always has me laughing at the get-go with " I'm doin' alright now but y'know, last week was rough..." 😝
HAHAHA!!!! I'll tell ya.... YOU had me on your post.....I'll tell ya...!!!
you remember what an awful day yesterday was.....!
As soon as he said it, I was laughing too. Great comedian.
Maybe not chemically….brilliant Dave
🤣
Dave knows how high he is.
"Maybe not chemically". Man that was good
Rodney top 10😂
My favorite line from Back to School was at the end, when Rodney (as Thornton Melon) is giving a speech to the graduating class: "You gotta look out for number one, but don't step in number two."
When Rodney tries to make a date with Sally Kellerman. She turns him down, because she has classes to teach.
"Call me when you have no class."
@@starguy2718 The whole movie is full of Rodney's hilarious one-liners - like in the scene with a bunch of knock-out co-eds in the hot tub.
Rodney: "What's your favorite subject?"
Co-ed: "Poetry."
Rodney: "Maybe you can help me straighten out my Longfellow."
1986 and 1987 were the peak of the 80's. We were so lucky... music, comedy, movies... THE BEST!
Plus I was born
Not sure off the top of my head when "Back to the Future" came out, but that was an 80's highlight for me.
@@jeffclement2468 1985 was when Back to the Future came to theaters. Great movie. One of my favorites
"When I first got married, my wife told me that I was one-in-a-million. I found out later that she was right". Best RD line ever...
Miss Rodney, he was a comedian genius.
I can’t imagine any of the Top 10 List being spoken on The Late Show today. Man, times have changed.
I wasn't allowed to stay up past Tonight Show on school nights, but come Friday night I'd be up with Carson, and Letterman!
I miss Rodney but I also missed his show and this time. I was in college and after a long day of classes and work I'd come home to my basement apartment which was illegal in New Jersey and get to see who Dave had on. This was a magical night!
Took my brother to see Rodney for his birthday, in Chicago at McCormick Place in 1989, I'm still laughing.
If there ever was anybody greater than Mr. Letterman, it is he himself Mr. Dangerfield. Best of the Best.
There never was nor will there be another one. RIP Rodney
Rodney was on fire.
An absolute legend
this was the best show ever. I cant love Rodney more!!
What an amazing comic
Loved his work great man!
I loved Back to School when it came out, now it’s a classic!
I'm glad I was around when he was at his peak. His movie "Back to School" is still a great movie.
He was a caricature, almost not human. What a talent.
That finger lickin good joke is 🧨
The clip was one of my favorites in the movie.
One of the all time greats. So many of those that make us laugh, really laugh and forget our troubles, are taken too soon.
Well, he lived until he was nearly 83-years-old...that's ancient, especially compared to most comedians.
I feel like we get to see a little of the real Rodney in this clip. He was "on" for most of it, and in his Rodney persona. But I saw little glimpses of a real and genuine guy popping up here and there. What a comedy legend!! 😆
Give Nigel my regards eh? 😻
Rodney always delivers!
this was great. Dangerfield a GOAT. wish the movie clip could've been included
"if you plan on using any cement in this building I'm sure the teamsters would like to have a little chat with ya & that'll cost you" - Rodney Dangerfield, Back to School, 1986
"The Japs will kill you on the labor costs!"
@@williamshaw9047 haha I posted that one initially but decided to delete it
Classic. And the students are taking notes from him lol.
"How about Fantasyland?!!!"
@@pipepicasso8112 I'll give a good example of that. Coca-Cola wanted to expand in Austin Minnesota. Hormel Corporation controls Austin Minnesota. They were unable to do so, so, they left Austin Minnesota. Coca-Cola.
Growing up listening to Dangerfield and Don Rickles, I've become a grumpy old smart-ass and I wouldn't change a thing.
Rodney Dangerfield delivered comedy in bulk.
Dave looks so young. Now in 2022, who would have guessed he would look like the old bearded hermit?!
This segment of the David Letterman Show is a classic. Rodney was the best.
The great one 👍👍❤️
One of the greats
Paul Schafer's musical genius and superb sense of comedic reaction and timing deserved recognition.
😂
The best standup of all time.
The one and only. None can compare.
Between Rodney and Dave this is legendary!
Rodney was great! The world has gone to hell since we lost all the laughter we need to learn to laugh at our selfs again.
Imagine living in a time where RODNEY DANGERFIELD could walk on a late night talk show ?? Yes it was GD awesome to be alive in such a time. The complete opposite of what it's like today.
@@patreekotime4578 - Yes DUH!! Most of the ppl watching on TV weren't expecting Rodney. That's the point. Try to keep up. Explaining the obvious is exhausting
i did and it was great
@@HardRockMiner yet you used up two comments explaining it
@@BobbySacamano - Is there a limit to the comments you can use explaining things to idiots..? If there is, I've just used up another one.
@@patreekotime4578 - That only applies when you're talking to idiots and small children. Which 1 are you..?
Legend
That old Letterman show was the best.
“Maybe not chemically.” 😂
The secret to like is ''KEEP BUSY''. Brillant! It'all there. BRAVO RODNEY!
3:43 "You wanna fight?" Haha I love Rodney
"I don't get physical...I get upset. When I get upset, he gets physical."
Lou crushes napkin holder.
Yes, kids, this was back when comedians were funny! RIP, Rodney!
Rodney didn't get older, he got funnier! I hope his rest has been peaceful.
Amazing clarity on this. Wow! ❤️❤️❤️
what a crowd what a crowd
I’ve never seen this clip until now. I’ve seen a few clips of RD on Carson (too young to see them live). Rodney showed Dave lots of respect. As did Dave showed Rodney. Class act to both of them.
Brilliant.
Don't tell me he died, too! You'd think there would have been an announcement, but Rodney gets no respect. No respect at all!
Rodney died about 20 years ago dude...
@@jimmymiddleton1307 wow, I didn't even know he was sick!
@@DaneOrschlovsky And, yet, he has an active RUclips channel. He and Carson were reincarnated on YT.
Rodney is still alive living with Elvis
@@ALIAN18 and Jim Morrison
Truly one of the best.
Fan Request... Dave in LA with Danny DeVito
Undisputed king of comedy 🤴
One of the funniest guy's ever.
RIP RD hats off to you sir.
Saw Rodney in Vegas once. Twp straight hours of hilarious jokes. What an entertainer.
One of the greats!
Rodney could make anybody's day.
Rodney The Goat !!
I love this channel reminds me a better days
I was barely weaned when I began to adore Rodney and Don Rickles on the old Ed Sullivan show. They always seemed so uncomfortable under the hot lights. Sweating out thier humble self conscious humor. Bless em both. It won't be heaven without them.
I feel like in the '80s we were raised by comedians.
I thought Letterman was at his best when he was on NBC after Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. It suited his style better there. Didn't like him so much when he moved to CBS. Love Dangerfield. here, btw!
Legend.
That's a great list.
I tell its been a rough week ...I like to go house parties to relax ...Last week a lady invited me offer ...she said come on over nobody's home ...I went over ...nobody was home.
So great
There’s never been a funnier “woe is me” comedian in my book than Rodney. I miss him…..
rodney was the best
Rodney Dangerfield is the GOAT!
I freakin’ love him!!!
Every generation talks about the good old days.....but none more the present, i believe, with good reason.
A joke some might miss is that Bob Hope would occasionally "walk on" when Johnny Carson was the Tonight Show host and _THAT_ became a joke in itself.
Paul's little HAAAA.
the drums made him jump in his chair... RIP RODNEY
Always the best. 😂
We miss you Rodney.
"Sell anything to a gypsy". Ahahahh
This can't be a yr. ago. Letterman is 70 yrs. old!
I thought he was very funny in Caddy Shack.
Hey we're all going to get laid!
Rodney another comic genius!
I'm shocked that I remember watching this in my tiny apartment right after I finished my first year in college.
#2 deserved laughter
the greatest
Genius 🤣
PlutoTV has a Johnny Carson channel . Can you have a Late Show channel and show episodes and not just little clips ? It would be nice because I can't get any real TV channel , just FOX .
Rodney Dangerfield did the same stuff all the time. He was still funny even though you kind of knew what was coming. He knew hundreds of the same type of jokes, so his show could be a bit different every time. He was one of a kind.
He was no George Carlin
@@user-vy4xx2qp3d You are correct, he was not George Carlin. George Carlin was George Carlin.
He's the king in my book
"We checked it right after the opening."
That's better than checking the opening right after it.
" I told my dentist I have yellow teeth, he said wear a brown necktie ".
He was such a teddy bear in Natural Born Killers.
only in Letterman's show were legends such as Johnny Carson, Rodney Dangerfield, etc... that crashed in the middle of the show like they were lost
List starts at 2:41
