    Hi Rob. Thanks for the great tutorial. This is a very common ptoblem and will help a lot of people (me included). The lockout cup you just used as replacement has the following Andreani SKU 12.M14.001?
    Do you know what is the type of o-ring/seal replacement we can use in this lockout cap?

    Thanks for this video! The lockout on my Sid Ultimate 2021 fork has just failed. Is the kit for this fix the “SID RACE DAY PISTON KIT - ROCKSHOX 32/35 FORK
    SKU: 12.K14.011” on the adreani website? Doesn’t sound like the right part, and I can’t find it on your website either.

    Do you know of a fix for dampers which leak out the top of the lockout hex?

    • @RBC_tech
      @RBC_tech  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hi @shmumeal2, thanks for your message and support of our channel. Unfortunately the small O-Ring at the top of the damper where the lockout pin exits the damper is not replaceable. To fix this you would have to replace the whole top threaded assemble above the bladder or purchase a new damper. If you are the original owner and the damper is within the 2 year warranty, reach out to your Rockshox distributor and check if they are prepared to warranty the damper.

    Greetings from Denmark. Thanks for the great video. I'm not sure this is the issue my Raceday damper has, but it is leaking oil from the lockout pin which means oil comes out on the outside of the fork. If it is this issue will it leak oil to the outside of the fork only when the fork is locked or also when it is open? When the fork is locked I can still move it about a third of the travel when I really put my weight on it. Does it indicate that the o-ring has split? The fork might have been leaking a bit before but after I serviced the fork it leaks more from the lockout pin.

    • @RBC_tech
      @RBC_tech  9 месяцев назад

      @Martinzak2809, thanks for your message and support of our channel. If you have oil leaking from the lockout pin then the damper needs to be replaced. The o-ring preventing the oil from leaking out of the pin has split and it cannot be replaced. The open feeling in the fork after the lockout has been activated means that the damper is not full of oil so it only locks when the oil level reaches the shimstack. This is due to the oil leak from the lockout pin.

    Thanks very much for this video, very helpful. I've been hearing that it's not possible to tune this damper at all. I see you pointed out the shim stack in this video. Is there some reason the shim stack can't be modified? Thanks!

      Hi Spsoon, thanks for your message and support of our channel. Its possible to tune these shim stacks for sure but its very delicate so easy to destroy.

    Do you know if the Raceday Charger will get damaged by rotating the lockout lever counterclockwise from its fully open position? I once hit something by accident and the lever rotatet counterclockwise, where it usually cannot go. I rotated it back, but I wonder if the way that the raceday charger works could mean that it is now damaged? Thank you!

    • @RBC_tech
      @RBC_tech  11 месяцев назад

      Hi @BlackPixxelDE, thanks for your message and support of our channel. Hopefully the lockout lever just rotated on the pin and has not rotated the internal parts. If the damper has a open and lockout click and cannot be rotated counterclockwise past the stopper then you might be OK. However if the lockout lever can rotate completely round then there could be a problem inside. Please have your local RockShox service centre check this for you.

    Hi Rob! Since I use the Rock Shox Race Day Damper in a Scott Spark for 2 years it has been replaced 3 times already by guarantee demand. Now I received a version 2 of that Race Day 2 damper. It is the Scott Version with 3 modes.
    Problem always was the lock out and the great leak of oil to the fork shaft.
    I hoped to get now a perfect lockout with that version 2 (red screw at the lower end of the damper body). Unfortunately again there is no precise logout.
    May I ask you: how much oil should be inside the damper? There is only one scrow to bleed the system. After pulling out all the air has the oil level to be at the upper end of the bleeding srew? Would it destroy the damper if there is too much oil inside?
    Yours
    Holger

    • @RBC_tech
      @RBC_tech  5 месяцев назад +2

      Hi Holger, thanks for your message and support of our channel. Sorry to hear that you have been having some bad experiences with these dampers but its great to hear the Rock Shox have replaced these under warranty regardless, that's great service! There is a bleed hole in the top of the dampers so you can refill the oil whenever you feel that the level has dropped inside the damper between services. Normal experience is a lockout that only operates after 1 to 2 cm of travel or a squelchy sound coming from the damper. This means its time to bleed the damper again. Its easy to bleed and like you brakes, if you keep it bled by toping it up from time to time then it will work really well for you. Keep in mind that the damper oil should be replaced completely when the fork is serviced as just topping up the oil as described above wont flush out any dirty oil. This should keep the damper running smooth for a long time.

      @@RBC_tech Hi Rob, thanks for sharing your experience! May I ask you: Now the Race Day Damper 2 is new with 0km. But again there is not a clear lockout. Maybe again it is not bleeded correctly from the factory.
      What would you say: how far from the very end of the rotation there should be the best lockout? Yours Holger

      Hi Leon, Thanks for your message and support of the channel. Yes its much cheaper from a postage point of view jus to send the damper. Please include the lockout or manual interface with the damper so we can check it before sending it back out. Its super easy to deal with us, follow the instructions on the link www.rbco.co.za/index.php?route=suspension/servicepricing - if you are outside of South Africa, I can arrange collection via DHL but I will be in contact with you to clarify this once i have the service details.

  • @zepper25
    @zepper25 Месяц назад

    Hey Robbie can you remove the race day 2 damper from a SID ultimate 2024 without removing the fork lowers? I only ask because I have a brand new fork and don't want to split it if it's not necessary but I need to change the damper to a different remote one.

    • @RBC_tech
      @RBC_tech  Месяц назад

      Hi Zane, thanks for your message and support of our channel. Yes you can just remove the damper without removing the lowers. Be aware that the lower nut on the damper has very thin threads and fits into the lowers with a taper so it can be difficult to remove without the specific tool. Don't forget to top up the lower leg oil with the R/S Maxima heavy lower leg oil.
