I’m not sure of your issue but I work off the build surface of my Omni 1 all the time. Haven’t taken the lifting table out of the package. Running coasters right now!
Plastic will melt and create very harmful gasses. Potentially, you could keep doing really light passes and scrape away the surface flakes of plastic, and just keep repeating the process until you reach the desired depth. But trying to do it all in one go is going to melt the plastic.
@@visuale500 I melted PLA pretty easily. If you set the scan speed slow and the pulse frequency low, power set high. Photo ablation is a thermal reaction. The laser is bombarding photon packets into the valence electrons of the target object, and those electrons become so excited that their atomic bonds break and become free positively charged ions.
Really neat laser. The addition of glass is really nice. It's weird that you can't engrave on flat objects on the main surface. Would be interested in seeing you actually utilize the rotary for engraving round glasses.
Just got mine. Went to set it up today and am missing the usb driver. I hope it won't take too long to get one. Had a rough time attaching the head to the tower. Laid unit on it side and put shimms under the head so that the holes would align. Cannot beleive the poor quality of the instruction manual as compared to the unit itself which is a beast.
Hey, Got my Omni 1 up and running. All my problems so far has been user errors. Have a new one that I don't think is user error. Engraving a SS coated JDS tumbler. The name engraved across the tumbler comes out with a very small smiley face . The name is 50 mm long with a dip of 2mm in the center of the smile. I'm NOT using a rotary just a jig that hold it in place and level. Then I engrave the same design on a business cards everything is OK. Have you done anything with tumblers or wineglass yet?
I emailed Commarker and they just emailed me 4 downloadable files about settings. I don't have my laser up and running to see what they sent me. You might email them
Just started looking at the setup manual. Even with a magnafing glass I'm unable to read it. What a joke. Do you know of anybody that could work me thru the setup over the phone or someway?
Still not up and running. Was able to run a test using EZCAD2 and it worked great. BUT I cannot get LB to connect with the laser. It does not show up in device manager-Universal Serial BUS device.
Got Lb installed but the laser will not frame even when the setting "frame be start" is turned. Spent all day yesterday going back and forth with LB support but still nothing. Did you have this problem?
But the laser is not a real fiber one, and is dpss with 10X reduced life. It also degrades fast(output at higher levels damages the q-switch, reducing life further). No different than Atomstack M4, except for 5W power than 2W and the uv instead of nir. Also not sure why it is way more expensive, without a real fiber laser(Raycus/JPT). Will wait till prices fall to 3X the current price.😂❤👍
That is really weird, they have a jiggable table, but then don't allow you to lower the head far enough for it to be useful. That's a n00b level thing I wouldn't expect from ComMarker. Those boys have made one or two other products.
So glad I could help you get jiggy with it! I really need to get a Laser, this looks fun!
@@K2Kevin Your help was greatly appreciated 😂. Yes! You need a laser 👍
Amazing video as always! Those glass engravings look so perfect!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thank you, John! They came out so good, it was such a great surprise!!
So glad you enjoyed them! There should be some to hand out or for you to keep for the bar 😉
There are certainly enough to share 😂
So cool to be able to mark glass! Great review bud!
I never have engraved glass so easily before. So nice not to have an interface layer. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
I believe you must use the 200mm lens to be able engrave without the lifting table. The 70mm lens requires the lifting table.
This is so cool! Awesome gifts!
@@pezliz It was fun to make them! Many thanks!
This is incredible!
Many thanks 😊
Super amazing
Many thanks 😊
No issue at all with the focusing height using the 150mm lens.
Pretty confident that mine might have been a preproduction unit. Lots of comments saying that can engrave on the build table.
@@TripodsGarage Have you tried using the 150mm lens on the build table?
I have a question for you I see you have the xtool ultra in the back. So would you buy this engraver or the xtool f1 ?
Really depends on what you want to engrave. Technically these might seem similar, but in reality they are totally different.
@@TripodsGarage you should do a comparison video
Excellent review Brother 🤓
Thank you kindly

Yeah, it is incredibly odd. Never had a galvo laser where I couldn’t focus the laser on the build surface. Wondering if I received a beta unit 🤔
I noticed some familiar names on those shot glasses!
The do look familiar 🤔. I heard that they are amazing people
Can this engrave deep into plastic or just color the surface?

@@retti9 Plastic will not melt as UV lasers create very little if any heat.

I am so tempted to get one.
It an amazing machine. Especially if you are looking to engrave glass fast with almost zero prep!
I have one. It's well worth the money. The only thing I haven't been able to mark thus far, is ceramic tile.

It is truly unique, I love that I can save time and engrave directly on glass. I plan on using the rotary as intended, instead of and janky jig 😂
I've printed business cards on the build table. No issues at all. Coasters, leather...etc.
Good to see that some do not have that issue 👍

Just got my Omni 1 today, what a beast. Did they sent "setting" info about various materials?
Unfortunately there were no material settings received with the laser 😞. Hopefully my video can get you at least started.

THE Omni 1 Laser Engraver how deep can it engrave can I drill a 5 mm hole in stainless steel ? 👍
No, nit even close. UV lasers are not for cutting.
Woah, that stepper motor at the bottom taking away from surface level work is a big bummer. Had not seen that was an issue with this one.🤨
He is the only one that seems to have this problem lol.
I have this same machine and it's a non-issue. I have engraved flat metals on the bed.
sickk, i like it :) give away haha
Hmm, not this one 😂

According to commaker the laser life is only 2000 hours. Which is not much at all. 2 years of use.
10,000 hours is the correct number.

Seems that I might have gotten a preproduction unit? As there are people that have commented on my video saying their’s focuses to deck.
@@TripodsGarage I'm glad to hear that. I was thinking about picking one up. And that was giving me pause to think!
Sounds like the n00bs are using the lens for the 70x70mm and not the 150x150mm. I'm using the 150mm one and it's not an issue at all.
