Exactly, it's pointless. My pointer appears any time I even slightly jostle the remote, and sometimes even the side bar comes up, covering up whatever I'm watching. I'm tempted to dismantle the fucking thing and disconnect the accelerometers somehow.

Tip works, but is completely useless. Since you can no longer use the select button, wouldn't it be easier to just throw away the remote?
Just press any of the arrow keys to get the pointer to disappear. Press the scroll wheel to re-activate. This does the same as your method but faster. The problem is, people are coming to this video in search of an actual way to disable the thing without having it pop back up with a press of a button. May just have to purchase and link a 3rd party controller to it.
So you can't select/click on anything while the dumb pointer is disabled because if you select/click on anything itll reconnect... terrible development and product design.
Totally agree... I want to return my TV!... Fortunately, I have a TV/remote which does not have that stupid, annoying technology... :-(
Agreed. It will work until you use the okay button again. But I read instructions on settings and it says in order to stop use the 4 way button in center (the wheel) and it worked for me. There is another video here on RUclips that demonstrates how to do it. A few seconds video.

I'll leave a comment for u because you were able to help me in just a few seconds. I was playing around the remote settings to turn on the cursor again but with no success.

Well I guess, but t's too easy to re-register that way. The REAL question should be "How do you "PERMANENTLY" disable the pointer option? I figure that yet again, somebody had an idea at LG and didn't stop to think somebody else might not like it.

If you set the LG TV settings on "on" for the "Audio Guidance," in the Accessibility options submenu menu, apparently the pointer goes away until the "Audio Guidance" is set on "off" again.

Hello. The recent probleme now it's that the pionter. Disepear after 5 min and won't go back again. Also nothing happen when I tried to desconnect the remote. By the way I got last update on 26/10

If you've tried everything to get your pointer back, and you're ready to throw the remote through the window, do the following: Go to SETTINGS (gear shaped button on the remote). Select GENERAL. Select ACCESSIBILITY. Turn AUDIO GUIDANCE Off. You're welcome.

These tips are wack! My wheel sunk into the remote and I brought a new one on Amazon. I like the cursor and the damn thing is non-responsive and will NOT move with my movement of the remote…..can someone please help? 🤷🏽♂️

Called LG the pointer/cursor (and u know why its called a cursor, bc that's what it makes u do) CANNOT BE DISABLED so thank the jerk who put this on the wheel and then made it so u can't disable.
It was that simple?! Oh my god, it was driving me nuts. How is that feature supposed to be helpful? Its super annoying and all over the place.

Buy a universal remote that works on the LG tv that is infrared and that pointer will not come on. The LG original remotes are radio not infrared remotes that’s why the pointer keeps coming back on.

Hahaha this does nothing you can literally press in direction left, right, up, down to stop it but everytime you click the centre button (ok) it comes back haha no need to hold home and back Burton just press down or any direction
