- George Motz spent most of his adult life studying hamburgers, with his research featured in books and even a documentary film. Now, he's made the jump from professor to professional. Six months ago, he opened Hamburger America in New York Ctiy, where he serves up burgers from around the country.

For folks who are learning about George for the first time, I assure you that he is ALWAYS just as warm and inviting as he seems in this interview. Love seeing him finally being able to turn his passion into a business. He deserves the success
Had a double cheese onion burger at Burger America last night and it is possibly the best burger I've ever had in my 35 yrs of eating burgers.
George Motz is a national treasure!
he has been ending up everywhere ever since opening up that hamburger place
@@holechekyou should go back on RUclips and look. He’s been building his street cred for a long time. He deserves this success plus more.
I LOVE Motz. He just opened his own burger joint, and what does he do? He drives you guys to Jersey to eat someone else's burger. The Ultimate Burger Selflessness
Motz driving to a different burger joint is all you need to know about him.
He wants people to enjoy burgers everywhere.
What a god damn legend
His PR team has been working overtime.
Imagine just using the name "george" on your chef shirt, this man is so modest and real
I love how he takes it so serious when he's on the grill. The cameras or conversations won't stop him from delivering his perfect burger
1:48 There's such a stark contrast in body shape between modern day and the 50s(?)
I’m not seeing it
It's so awesome that he's actually there making the burgers
This is exactly the same way I’ve always liked burgers too! It’s about a simple quality cheeseburger where you taste the beef and not all the extra garbage that everyone covers it with.
I don’t get to NYC often (I’m 44, I’ve been there probably 15-20 times), but when I do, I will get a burger here. I’ve seen many of his videos through the years, he’s a cool dude and I think he knows what it is about.
Glad he's getting this coverage
If you don’t know about this guy he’s basically the sage of burger
Seth Rogan should play George in a Burger movie.
Johnny Knoxville would be better...
This is so much better than those pretentious a-holes in Connecticut who serve you a near-raw meatball between white bread and will refuse you service if you dare ask for salt and pepper, let alone any condiments.
Certified Gold!!!!!
Ive been making burgers the Motz/Okie Fried Onion way for a while it changed my understanding of what a hamburger can be
A simple burger is a beautiful thing
Went to Hamburger America a few months ago. Can confirm it - George makes one hell of an onion burger.
You rock George
Looks fantastic
Pie and Burger in Pasadena......a gem
Love the name.
George Motz is a legend
I make my own smash burgers Sollys Wisconsin style at home. They are awesome. George is the burger scholar. I watched him make smash burgers to get some ideas. I want to try Oklahoma onion style next.
The man the burger the legend.
visionary go George
There used to be a burger shop in Queens with a little old lady that sold handmade burgers for 1.25. This was 20 years ago. I wish I could remember the name.
1:51 slim America
1:48 America nowadays
Damn, I’m hungry.
Wow seeing this guy everywhere lately, and always reminds me of Johnny Knoxvilles older brother
was there 3 weeks ago, and it lived up
Visited the shop & George was there he's cool more like Cali cool surfer than burger god but if you haven't been you're missing out!!
Homemade burgers are always the best . I make a burger on a everything bagel
He looks like the Aaron Franklin of the North
These are great in a cast iron pan
It's really hard to see Wolverine as a senior citizen hamburger shop owner.
I miss watching burger scholar 😢
Trill Burger still is the King of burgers
He sounds like Tom Arnold!
Hamburger expert 😂😂😂
Better call the Burgermeister
Some, please 🙏
CBS that last organization to find out about George Motz
His name isn't George Motz, it's George Motz.
Anyone see the anchor on the right at 6:30 JUST eating the pickles and not tasting the burger? Weird.
Perhaps she doesn’t eat cheese or animal flesh
how about 3:30 ? disgusting!
George Motz rules and this place is pretty good.
Sit at the counter if you have time to dine in.
I don’t recommend this month’s special burger if you don’t like Mayo.
This great man has now become a Legend and savior of the American burger story
5:33 I want to come to New York, especially for this great guy. Imagine that on that day, he would have his day off 😂😢
7500 miles of disappointment.
The chances of you seeing him there is not that high. I work near there and have been for lunch about 4 times and I’ve never seen him unfortunately.
In a perfect world, George Motz’s new burger restaurant would grow at an unprecedented pace and put McDonald’s out of business within about 10 years.
no salmon burger?
👍
The news woman on the right of the screen wearing big earrings at the end of this segment is merely eating a pickle with her fork. She's unconsciously saying..."I'm not clogging my arteries with this or exercising for 4 hours to burn off these calories"
She is a vegetarian.
JOHNNY KNOXVILLE
is making
burgers ?
.
Floppy disc style😂😂😂
Cannibal burger 😂
Could be Joe's Uncle. Jus' saying.
CASH IN GEORGE
Congratulations on this home style story, really who doesn’t like a hamburger. Wonderful meaning full story for those old enough to remember an Hamburger American. They were still part of the landscape when I was growing up, that was a while ago thou.
Who eats hamburgers with a fork? 🤣
Evil 😈 doers! 😳
A carnivore’s dream.
6:28 was she just eating pickles? How you not going to try the burger and the audacity to mention turkey and salmon burgers 😂 that’s disrespectful to my guy George
He should not budge about French fries
Our west, In and Out
RUclips ADS SUCK
Eating a hamburger with a fork? Elitist much?
If this is history ‘MERICA then how much does it cost? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
To be called a burger, the meat patty has to be beef. Anything other is called a sandwich.
that's a hamburger specifically. a "burger" in the broader term is a patty of ground meat cooked somehow served on bread. Which is to say, those pedants in the UK and Australia calling it a "chicken burger" are Wrong.
I see why chefs change jobs so often. Stress
WTH! why is she eating a hamburger with a fork? that's ridiculous how do become that out of touch with being a regular person? Must be the money!
Hey CBS News, it’s pronounced “mutton” not “mu’ un” with a glottal stop. Please don’t be lazy in your pronunciation.
OMG! I just realized he also said, “Fla’ enned”. I didn’t hear it the first time because my head exploded with the first glottal stop. It just sounds lazy. Pronounce your words. How did you get on TV speaking like that?
Hamburger is not that complex
Some good burger ideas here, but I would have to disagree with putting what appears to be cheap "American cheese" on a burger while saying no to catsup and bacon.
A little quality sharp cheddar can enhance a burger, but cheap tasteless cheese detracts from the flavor by drowning the burger flavor out!
american cheese is a perfect melting cheese for burgers
I mean he’s cool I guess, but why does he get so much publicity?
You guys are out of your minds thinking this is good or tasty food.
Smashing a patty like that was for efficiency.
There is nothing culinary about it.
Why don't I trade in my car for a 1950s Bel Air.
This is a fad.
A 2024 Johnny Rockets.
Team America...
ah yes shake shack's continued success for nearly 20 years is quite the fad
Not sure what Shake Shake has to do with American Burger.
@@chrislim7976 proof the smash burger isn't a fad
@@NineteenEightyFive
Flattening a ball of meat has been around for decades, rocket.
Bringing it back like it's something new and amazing and calling it "American Burger" is a retro novelty...also known as a fad aka Johnny Rockets.
I'm starting to get sick of George Motz. Why is he everywhere all of a sudden?
I've seen him make his smash burgers like a thousand times already. We get it dude.
get over yourself lol
Obviously big buck$ is backing him, including CBS "News".
Its just a burger
exactly
Too bad we can’t afford these tasty treats because of bidenomics.
derp
You can make one at home.
You can. It's just barely 3oz of beef and a large pile of thinly, thinly sliced onions. How much is that at Walmart? These guys making money hand over fist.
stop embarrassing yourself and look up greedflation
