Rory Beynon-Gray Sometimes it seems like dark souls and assassins creed combined but meh. And I mean, it has the parkour and the combat style of assassins creed, and the hardness of dark souls. But all and all, it's a really good game. And when I say 'hardness' I mean't that you had to kill 35 Uruks. Yikes.
After I got my first ability it got SO much easyer :) Now I talke down captains like they were regular Uruks ;) I´ve just spend 3h regging Uruks and Captains :P
All of these are awesome! Also gotta include the ability to do a brutal insta kill at an x8 combo, forget the name but it's super helpful for crowds of enemies as it can cut down people quickly.
It's strange how they completely ignored the tier 1 abilities. It might be because you will more than likely have most of them already unlocked before being able to jump to the next tier, but for *early* must have abilities, you really need to get Wraith Stun and then Execute, in that order.
I love this game. A solid 9/10, in my opinion. A bit of advice for future players; make sure you get a good 7-10 hours of play time in two or three days. The beginning gives a lot of info quick and it can be a lot to take in. However, once you get your feet wet, it all becomes second nature.
Hey guys remember when Assassin's Creed wasn't dishing out game after game, when there weren't any cliff hangers, consisted only of fetch missions, remember how fantastic AC3 was?, remember how ea didn't serve the same concept over and over to players? I Don't.
Does anybody else just grab all the orcs around captains or warchiefs and use each one like an orc shield? Each hit that their buddies do to them counts as if you hit them, so it charges your streak. At the end, it's just captain and you have a streak to use as you wish. I feel like it's waaaay too exploitable. Even with no runes early in the game I could pretty much just kill whoever I wanted. Even if alarms had been raised in strongholds. You just back up constantly and keep the orc shield between you and all the enemies.
** one good tactic I've been using a lot is to wraith stun an Uruk, or jump over and stun them. And when doing the flurry Attack.. Press the X (or square on PS4) just once per Attack to land critical hits. You can build up your meter to about 10x with just one flurry Attack. And if you unlock the ability to get x3 for each critical. Your multiplier with rise extremely quickly. I tend to stun then. Use a flurry attack. And crit strike then until my meter turns red (at x8 or x5 if you've upgraded it) and combat brand or execute them. Then move to the next target and repeat. I've gotten over x100 using this method. It also helps if u have the ability to take one hit without having your multiplier reset, since it's easy to get hit with an arrow or spear while doing this.
I love it when devs successfully use other games to influence their own game, instead of just being a shitty rip off. I reckon the next example of this will be Lords Of the Fallen which is using inspiration from Dark Souls which will be amazing.
Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor is such an awesome game and the combat is so badass and fluid like in the Batman Arkham games and The Nemesis system is so cool. You really felt like a true badass .
1.Storm of urfael to perform a few wraith flash and burns ...not very fun but clears a lot of uruks. 2.Shadow of acharn .. real smooth and kills a lot and that dagger slicing sound is sweeet . 3.combining quick throw dagger and executions .. clears real fast and is satisfying ..combined with SOU. 4.use fire of azhar with shadow kill.. that flaming sword is awesome
Has anyone else noticed how Talion's combat system in the game is similiar to Ciri's in the witcher wild hunt? Not that it's a bad thing but think about. They both possess mythical powers and can teleport to an extent in a flash of blue light Difference is Ciri can't influence the minds of enemies or orcs and isn't possessed :P
Why would you have 10 captains/warchiefs branded, unless you're at the end and just to dispatch them. You could kill them individually and get the rune.
I think the "Branding" ability should be available a little earlier in the game. I now have over 20 hours into my game and I'm on 11/20 main missions; STILL don't have the branding ability unlocked! For the most part I absolutely love this game and the well-paced progression makes it feel rewarding to play, but certain abilities just come too late in the game (or take too much time to achieve) IMO. It's still an amazing game though. I'd still recommend this game to most of my friends and other gamers.
Nah the brand ability is perfect where it is. If it came to early the game would be even easier than it already is and their would be no sense of progression.

I just wish the nemesis system would work after the story. that first few hours where orcs come back to hunt you is amazing. After you get to nurn and after the story it just stops... I made so many new games lol

Picked up this game today on PC and omg I'm I hooked. Already played like 8 hours and seeing this video I wanna play a lot more for end game. The only disadvantage is the key bindings on the keyboard, although completely manageable, you're better off with a controller for this game IMO.
Remap some few and after few hours it gets natural. I have few gamepads, two x360 - wired and wireless - and it just didn't tick. I prefer m&b for this one, and to my surprise it's not fudged at all. ;)

Most creatures and places you see in Shadow Of Mordor are from the ancient world of Lord Of The Rings dont try to compare the beasts from LOTR to SOM because they dont match like you see trolls and nazgul in LOTR youl see Caragors and Grauls in SOM .
Or you can just get them all? Takes some time but after the story i had like 5 abilities left to get. The actual story is short as shit but your kinda ment to get distracted a lot.

How about brand regular uruks, and wait for them to be promoted and then make them stronger with out interference of the player. Just to make it a war chief, by betrayal, or by challenge. Only took me a couple of hours. But then again there are no guarantee that your uruk would not be killed by a caragot in the after marth wen you say well that was fun.

You missing out..its so much more to do than just the story mode..I've played about 25 hours so far and I'm only 30% done with the story..I spend a lot of time searching for captains collecting runes and just exploring the world. Its worth 60$. Trust me you won't be disapointed.

one question: does that brain explosion ability that allows you to kill all the branded orcs and uruks do it for everyone in the general vicinity, or all the orcs/ uruks period? cuz it would kinda suck if you got a really powerful captain and it got killed cuz you wanted to save yourself in a fight.
Of course, without Stealth your going to die against death threat war Chiefs and even captains. Normally when you fight a captain or war chief another one will "stumble" across you and join the battle making the odds against you even higher. Thinning them out with Stealth Bow is extremely viable

Yeah killing captains is way too fun, im 8 hours into it and not even half way through the game, I really need to start doing some main missions.

There is one epic sword rune that gives you +10 health for each execution. If you get that, you're golden.
i have that and arune that gives me 2 elf shot fore eact execution

fire arrow is way more important than dispatch, fire arrow makes it really easy to fight combat master captains, (that arent immune to ranged)
