Honestly, I like both because they both have their situational uses because I've had multiple times where enemies would reinforce from the flank or even behind my defenses and just ruin my day. This gave me the notion to always have a rear-guard in my missions, whether attacking or defending.
Also I really liked how the dynamic conquest is now, that Flak 88 Ambush really seems something that could happen, also makes you mind your movimentation.
In terms of putting statics such as mortars and MGs in Foxholes. I like to put mortars into the big arty craters and get the sandbag deployed at the top. And putting the MG next to solid cover or position them where theyre in a trench but theyre kind of floating

One of the best games ever out there in my honest opinion and I prefer modern warefare type games, but I enjoyed this way to much after purchasing it this evening. To anyone still figuring out the crashing, this seemed to work for me: 1. Uninstall any CTA games, including dlcs and mods. 2. When you reinstall, reauthenticate to ensure all files are in place (also check your steam and nvidia or other software is up to date). 3. Go over your video settings, including audio (which plays a role in performance settings as well) After that, everything should work like a charm. If anyone wants to play some co-op, let me know. I am still bit of a noob nut pretty good between average/ veteran.
it was more to do about the gun going through the sandbags, if you put it in reverse theyd still have some cover from being a bit lower in the ground I guess
If it helps, you can slow down the speed of the game without having to pause. For some reason pausing prevents you from commanding units. Anyways, yeah, it should give you enough time to plan out and set up defenses. By the time you resume to normal time, all your units should be setting up with having to frantically ordering them around.
Well I knew that, I knew it would get smaller for more accuracy but never saw it with the calliope and didnt wanna sit there waiting for the video haha
The problem with this game is AI is so stupid. Not necessarily the enemy, your own guys. It's like they don't even know they're in war and are clueless. You have to micro way too much.
This game could finally replace Men of War for me. I'm really curious about the penetration mechanics though. In Men of War RobZ for example M36 with HVAP can penetrate Panther easily at any range which should not be the case since HVAP loses a lot of penetration against angled armor. This alone could make playing US significantly more challenging.
The armor in GOH is very realistic. It’s sort of like war thunder with its armor. With a short 75mm gun on a Sherman you won’t be able to knock out a Panther very easily for example. Unless you get that perfect shot obviously.

Let's say Panther for example has 80mm of frontal armor, but It's sloped at 50 but the effective thickness is around 140mm. So if you have 140mm of pen you are going to penetrate. Then they released an update which made sloped armor a lot more effective and since then US 90mm for example was not able to penetrate Panther's front plate even if you have enough penetration because the round loses a lot of it when hitting so steeply sloped armor. However I'd love to see if devs implement T33 shot for the 90mm in GOH. This shot was issued later in the war and had better penetration than standard M62 shot and especially against sloped armor. Being able to penetrate Panther's front plate at 1000 yards so around 900-ish meters. While M62 and HVAp was able to do that at around half that range.
@starly1974 Ah, never played the MOW series other than the new one after playing the demo. They might add that round to the game. I know depending on the year you select different types of ammunition and things will be issued in the game. Guess we will have to see though!
I tested the Foxhole MG idea with the MG42! Works too, but you have to make the lafette be a little over the sandbags. But if it is, it works fine! Brutal!
How low can the guys get on the 30 cal? What u had seemed like a good position for the situation. I’m more of an offensive guy and constantly displacing my mgs but mostly prefer them prone in hedgerows and stuff. Does this dlc let you do that?

Also, an awesome and significant ostbatalion/osttruppen/Easter POW unit operating in the Western theatre was the Georgian 882nd Infantry Battalion Königin Tamara who held out on Texel unit May 20 1945. They rebelled against their German officers and took control of the entire island! A former classmate from Texel was deeply involved in maintaining of that history and had some amazing stories to tell about it.
I've been wanting to play this game for such a long time but every time I start the game it crashes and every fix tutorial I found didn't work if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated.

I bought it and refunded it. Just wasn’t my type of game. I feel a bit guilty though as I see it has great reviews. I’m more into the old school combat mission games or grand strategy.
Well, the only thing this game doesn't have right now is Japan and the UK, however it has Finland Other than that I think GoH is vastly superior to MOWAS

I completely disagree, you clearly have not played Gates of Hell, they 100000% focus on SP and COOP content, if you want PvP, you want to play Men of War 2 when it comes out in 2024 The GoH mission content is really up there in quality with the OG 2006 CoH 1 game

I'd say they're pretty good! Half the time they're better than I am! Making shots I wouldn't be able to, taking out tanks and enemies effeciently. Sometimes they can be dumb too. But over all I'd say they're great. Just be ready for the occasional dumb ai. It's funny when the enemy ai is dumb, frustrating when ally ai is bad

Use the watercooled 30cal in combination with infantry fighting positions. It's far superior to the sandbags and the air-cooled 30cal

How are you able to set up your defenses before the AI attacks? I know sometimes they like to be hardcore and attack very fast

I find GoH devs are usually very much about historical accuracy, so thats something for you to test out when it releases :D

The most immersive ww2 rts for sure. The best? Nah. Some nasty bugs, modding has issues and some features ate not working fully as intended.
