    I have one of these rifles, it's great! Accurate and reliable. Fun to shoot, a lot better than my 22lr.

    dont you just hate it when the intro is loud so you lower the volume then you cant hear the voice, just to have the outro rape your ear drums? no? just me?

    I've subscribed to GUN TESTS magazine for many years in part because of the credibility they gain through their policy of no paid advertisements. Has there been a change?

    They took Kalb's 50 cal design, made it smaller and flipped upside down. Kalb's a genius, totally underappreciated. Patent 5,834,678.

    it sounds like the delay lug and where it locks into place, can fail after awhile with use.

      Hello, comment from the past. Yes, more moving parts, more maintenance. Failure to do so results in malfunction.

      @@racexine If a lug fails, it's not because of a maintenance issue. That'd be metal fatigue.

    • @timhofstetter5654
      @timhofstetter5654 3 года назад

      Simple. Easy. Example: Excel MP17. You don't need anything but blowback for .17 HMR. Thing is... .17 HMR is no big woo; it's a ton more expensive than .22LR and while it's very flat shooting in dead-still air, it's EXTREMELY sensitive to breezes and grass and anything else. Impact energy is almost exactly identical to .22LR, so you've bought nearly nothing for all that money. Might as well pick up a cheap .22 rifle from WalMart.

  • @aos7194

    is it too much to ask for you guys to make this rifle into a pistol about the size of a Glock 42 or 26 . It would sure be a great killer for the argument of using .22 LR as a personal protection round.

    I bought an A17 and as with all new firearms I just purchased I cleaned the weapon , took it out to try it and I had a very disappointing out come. the rifle kept jamming and the clip kept malfunctioning. I called savage arms customer service number, and was told to send the rifle back to them. they did fix the problem. it didn't take them very long to return the rifle back to b me. It functions correctly now. I was disappointed with it not working out of the box. Savage arms didn't send a little something for the hassle and disappointment, they did pay for the shipping, guess that was what they thought that was enough. it's going to be hard to purchase a other Savage firearm in the future, as I'm gun shy now.

      Magazine....magazine for shit sake!!! By definition, a magazine has its own spring and follower, a clip is a device that assists in loading a magazine! The Garand uses an 8 round clip! Razumeš?

      @Kenny Reilly It'd help a lot if it cost $150. Then you could afford a box of ammo for it, too. Maybe. .17 HMR cartridges are EXPENSIVE.... plus hard to find.

  • @timhofstetter5654
    @timhofstetter5654 3 года назад

    Hype. The .22LR has a max chamber pressure of 24,000 psi. The .17 HMR's max chamber pressure is only 26,000 psi, an increase of slightly more than 8%. Not nearly enough to warrant a different action. Straight blowback is perfectly well suited for .17 HMR provided that the bolt is heavy enough.
    I have a .40 S&W blowback that runs perfectly well... and that's good for 35,000 psi, far more than the .17 HMR.
    Someone doesn't know what they're talking about.
