@@LordNeckBeard Yes because Tetricus didn't actually want to break away from Rome. Both the Gallic and Palmyrene were breakaway Roman States, not seperate Empires. They broke away in response to the chaos of the Third century in order to take their security into their own hands since the central government was too busy killing new Emperors every 5 seconds. Tetricus was a Roman through and through. He didn't actually want to go to war with Rome. Like the moment when your emperor defects to Aurelian. How the hell did Tetricus former men feel ???
being called "restorer of the world" is FAR more badass than "the great"
We have a lot of greats but we only have only one man that restored the world
Hell yeah!
Indeed!!! Sol Invictus. Ave Caesar Aurelianus.
Aurelian is like that one fantasy character who is only mentioned in a tale which happened like 1000 years ago, but in which he basically is the absolute gigachad and responsible for saving an entire kingdom.
In 5 short years this man secured the future of millions for over 2 centuries.
You have 10 years to restore rome and give it the glory of the sun.
Aurelian: fine Ill do it in 5.
If he had been given 5 more years he would have conquered the Sassanids.
Aurelian is legitimately one of the greatest human beings on the planet. All he accomplished would normally take entire lifetimes to accomplish, but he did it in only five years. The Crisis of the 3rd Century may have ended with Diocletian, but Aurelian was the true hero of that time and I truly wonder what would have happened had he lived to enjoy the fruits of his hard fought labors.
I do wonder if Rome could avoid it's eventual collapse for at least a few more centuries if the the Five Good Emperors managed to live their full lives.
@@worldinflames38 The Five Good Emperors all died of natural causes, so technically they did live their full lives. Aurelian could’ve maybe given the Empire another century of life had he stayed alive
@@iDeathMaximuMII The Empire lived for more than a thousand years after Aurelian's death though.
@@akSeR2010 It was severely weakened though, and was only really in the Balkans/Anatolia
There was not even records of him or his family until a few years before his rule. He made it to emperor from being a nobody, and instead of being satisfied he was a relentless ruler for his remaining few years.
On another video about Aurelian, some other commenter said it best. By all rights, the Third Century Crisis was the END of the Empire. To put it into perspective of the USA; it would’ve been like if the Civil War, the War of 1812, the Spanish Flu, and the Great Depression were all happening at the same time. Aurelian not only fixed all of these problems, but he did so in just five years. Truly, he was one of the greatest men not just in Rome, but of all time.
I think any who’s done his research would agree with you, he definitely left his mark on history.
he fixed the immediate military situation, and attempted to fix the larger underlying issues (namely inflation) before he died.
Imo main causes that led to the death of the roman empire is
1. Civil war and infighting
2. Inflation (essentially the inability to pay the legions)
3. Lead

its literally a matter of time bro
if a guy like that was my leader id sacrifice everything i have for his visions
instead, about leaders we have now ,the only thing i would sacrifice is my calories when im walking away from their speeches
Theres plenty of men capable of doing just as well as him if not more, but the modern system of corrupt democracies controlled by unseen deep states pretty much prevents anyone that isnt controlled by them from ever being given a position of power, and even when one might actually power through all that and get elected…in a democratic system the highest executive doesn’t have enough power to really do anything they dont want even then.
Even meh people who arent anywhere close to that great, but still at least have a balanced and open minded perspective and new fresh ideas like idk Andrew Yang in the last US election are shut out by the established parties in favor of another old, bland puppet bureaucrat as the candidate for election.
Now maybe if things in our time got as horrendously bad as in his time…that could change and some great people might rise up. The reason this goes on as the status quo is probably largely dependent on things just not being bad enough yet.
Things just kinda suck ass, but they arent “holy shit the entire world is burning…if we dont do something huge, we’re going to see a new dark age!” Level, and so…sadly that’s probably what is going to have to happen for things to actually be turned around and get better.
I guess that kinda makes sense because ever since the Roman Empire collapsed the world has just been trying to figure shit out and solve enough problems to regain the kind of stability it had lost after Rome, and only in our time did we really regain that comfortable, safe, and peaceful existence.
Of course it didnt last long and we’re now seeing a rapid decline, which may very well lead to the start of a collapse which then will either finally wake people the fuck up and have great men appear and take action(if thats still possible in our governments)…or will lead to the civilized world burning all around us.
The Western worls is heading to the same way as Rome did. (its a bit worse because of the media)
The degredation and corruption is just too much and eventually it will lead to war and from the ashes of war men of this caliber will rise.
