This gen IS set trends in edging elegant design when this first came out as the LF-cc concept back in 2012. This refined iteration of that is the best yet.
This is going to be far better and reliable than any German car, which are nowhere close to being rivals. We presently have the 2015 2.5lL IS300h model of this car, and in 5 years the only thing to fail is a spark plug. I am getting 53mpg UK. We will soon be looking at a 2021 model.
eCVTs transmission it’s excellent. It has a full planetary geared system and it has nothing to do with the belt-driven traditional CVTs which are terrible.
i bought an 07 es350 last month and it really is a match made in heaven. I dont think I can ever go back to a v4, or another car brand for that matter...I'm spoiled!
I would definitely choose the IS over its rivals, due to reliability. My chose will be IS500 this fall (US market). Not sure if you guys are getting it.
Man it looks so cool. I just wish Lexus did more for the interior. You still can't get a HUD, any ambient lighting or a bigger digital display. I'm glad apple car play got added though.
I have read quite a few positive reviews, with respect to Lexus after sales and service. This is what will persuade me to buy the Lexus IS with the V6 (really wanted a V8).
@@animalmother4 Sales are low maybe because the interior isn’t up to par with competitors like Merecrdes. If the interior was as good or better than the new Mercedes, “in my opinion” sales would rise.
I love then all, as they are sedans. Can't get interested in SUVs. Toyota's 3.5 V6 maybe old but still giving great service, wonder how many have been made?
I feel as though the hybrid makes more sense as an overall verdict because of the type of car it’s set up as. Can’t deny the car looks brilliant regardless of what spec you choose. You do make a good point about the new look IS relaying some old quirks; not least of which the lack of a plug-in or complete electric model. I guess hopefully something about such will arise in near future.
The new Lexus grille often times ruins the overall design of the car it fitted into... But in the case of LC500 and this... It perfects the design and turns it into A. FRIGGIN. MASTERPIECE.
Really love the look of the car. Downside for me is the interior is dated (still looks good though), the 4cy turbo should've been more powerful and the car is not on their new TNGA platform.
Fantastic value for money proposition . Best value for money proposition would be IS 300 or IS 300H with enhancement pack 2. Personally, F-sport with a stiff suspension might appeal to some and the novelty might wear off over time. I rather put my extra money and get enhancement pack and add value to the driving experience. By the way I did test drive the vehicle and its a real beauty and fantastic value proposition. It might not be superior in cabin dynamics compared to the Germans, but makes up for it in fit and finish and above all Reliability.
It's not a totally different design outside, but much slicker and sharper. I like it a lot. But they do have to refresh the interior, especially that touchpad. Unfortunately they won't sell it in Europe anymore.
@@podge5555 it's available for configuration on Lexus UK website for sure (the Hybrid model only) Edit: my bad, they are still displaying the pre 2020 model..they look very similar!
What about the problems with the suspension in the previous model causing tire wear requiring new tires every year. Camber issues that are hard to fix.
You see the lc interior in brown everyone's raving about and you have it, yet you review the black. I ended up getting hyped up and then sad. Thanks bro. Otherwise thanks and good review 🙏😬
Although Lexus has not brought out a new generation IS and this range hasn't changed that much, what Lexus has done pretty good stuff with the refresh look with current engine options. Lexus IS 350 F sport is my pick too. It's options are more value at price point compared to the German cars which are more expensive and less bang for your buck.
If a car brand is not making things like all the others, this doesn't mean it's "behind" all the others. It means 1) they use their own brain when making cars 2) they put engineers and designers to create them, and not the marketing people (with due respect to marketologists)
I think I'm worried about the steering, I prefer a stiff/tighter feel like the bmw. You said the steering was numb so I'm curious what you mean by that ?
Because Lexus has got a good product... not going to break after 3yrs , a fresher look is welcome and looks good if you ask me. all these euro with the latest tech no one uses anyway
Why people in Australia hate German cars, merc, Bmw etc... yet love Lexus, Toyota and Hyundai??? This review states go for is350, another chasing cars is picking is300... which one is better?
Hey mate, here in Aus they are extremely unreliable (partly due to our weather and roads) and in general as well, so that's why people pick more reliable brands here. I have a reveiw on all 3 IS models. If you're interested to watch let me know what you think :)
Lexus' age slowly anyway so although the overall design is getting old it was so far ahead when it first debuted that it's still current. love the new rear end, it's really unique.
This car is perfect for any driver. I personally think most of the other brands are over-engineering cars and making them less reliable. The IS could be perhaps 20-30 mm longer, but everything else in this car in my opinion is perfect.
No head-up display & wireless charging for it's asking price? Lexus how about swapping out the CD player for the two? The seat memory buttons, the door handle and many other interior items reminded me of the 2007 RX450h I once had. 🙄
Great looking car, and probably the most reliable among the premium D segment bunch, but the space inside is so tight. It’s smaller inside than a Corolla ffs. No wonder, the bonnet is as long as both the front and rear doors combined.
You're right mate it is tight and at the same time gives you that compact sports sedan feel. If you like Lexus reviews I've made a few of them including the IS. If you're interested to watch let me know what you think :)
I think the makeover Lexus have done looks great! It looks up to date with competitors but the interior definitely looks dated. No wireless phone charging at all & digital instrument cluster is only available on the highest spec model.
Wow, it has exceed my expectations by miles, I think it is the best looking car in the class, very nice.
IS/ES best value long term. Truuuust me.
For how many yrs?
Yes. Camry and corolla are even better value/price ratio for long term.
I don’t trust you.

A proven drive train, superior fit and finish and quality to last many years, far outweigh any gimmicky feature or fancy interior.
I will go for Lexus first Benz 2nd Audi 3rd and BMW last
Lexus' quality and reliability is unmatchable
Don’t know how the best car is last but ok

Best looking sedan on its class (Though Giulia is also a pretty car), same as the previous one. Just beautiful.

Gorgeous looking car, and refinement second to none. It's drive assistance tech is Toyota safety sense 2.5 which is standard in all new Toyotas.

This is such an excellent and detailed review. You actually zero in on things buyers really need to know

IS 350 for me, anytime.
Edit: Except for that touch pad control, I love that traditional look of the interior. Thank Goodness!
I’ve only seen these in 300h lower spec trim. Damn that F-Sport trim looks achingly gorgeous.
I have read quite a few positive reviews, with respect to Lexus after sales and service. This is what will persuade me to buy the Lexus IS with the V6 (really wanted a V8).
Whilst I like the exterior changes. That interior just looks dated...why they didn’t refresh I don’t know, especially when you look at competitors
They tweaked the interior but because it’s not a volume seller and sales are super low it would cost too much giving a full refresh.
@@animalmother4
Sales are low maybe because the interior isn’t up to par with competitors like Merecrdes. If the interior was as good or better than the new Mercedes, “in my opinion” sales would rise.
Great presentation. I particularly like the way you separate and compartmentalize the various segments.
Come on Lexus!! Come out with a new ISF already!!!

3.5 V-6 is one of Toyota's best engines ever!!
I’m very much liking this second in class to only the 3 series
Lexus is ✨underrated ✨
