AUTOBAHN DRIVE
The German Autobahn has no speed limit but you should not race on it! Obey the rules and respect other drivers. Driven by an experienced Driver
If you are happy with top speed of 210 kph/130 mph , fuel consumption of 42mpg/6.7 liters per 100k. You cannot choose better. 0-62mph/0-100kph takes 7.5 sec normal mode. Sports mode starting from first (virtual gear) got it 7.09. Most importantly car is trouble free and service is very reasonable compere to competitors.
Hahaha, more like 8.5 secs... Not even driving downwards will you get that Lexus under 8 secs... Sport mode does absolutely nothing. And if driving above 120kph you'll get more like 8-10 L/100km...
That battery pack is a nest of issues that costs thousands of euros to replace and service can almost only be done at their dealers. Its expensive as fuck and totally average...
Any comparable premium car, even in the 2010s when it was originally released, were faster and more efficient. The diesels especially would blow it out of the water.
@@AI-qd4vb Not a Lexus driver obviously. So far the car is trouble free. Also Lexus Relax apply so every service my warranty is extended for another 12 months. Car is limited to 210 km/h so in the end 320d 184 or 2.0 Tdi 190 have a grater top speed. Acceleration wise 0-200 Lexus IS way better. Fuel consumption as I mentioned before 6.7 doing 140 km/h on motorway, congested city driving 5.0. Would not ever change this car for diesel again.
@@AI-qd4vb I had hybrid Lexus for 16 years and I had no problem with battery…
@@AI-qd4vb The Toyota/Lexus hybrid systems are as realiable as it can get. You get 10years and 350k km warranty the powertrain and batteries anyway. These cars don't break down like the German ones and it's very cheap to upkeep. Maintenance in dealers are almost as cheap as for basic Toyota cars. And the power, IS300h will blow basic 2.0l turbodiesels out of the water in real world situations, such as 60-120km/h and so on.
@@AI-qd4vb Actually there are videos of 300h doing 0-100 in 7s you muppet. The battery pack is very reliable and with a diesel, you will not get the same fuel economy in cities as this 300h. You don't know sh*t boy!
Without ASC 215km/h u hear only wind, and tires. Great test! I have this car and i love it!
I know for a fact they put those limiters to protect the electric battery so i wouldn't delete them
My 0-100 time was measured with a stop watch. I don't have racelogic or other data logging equipment. Car was also matched against two of my colleagues cars, 250cdi (204hp) Mercedes C class and BMW 320d (190hp) for 0-200. In both cases Lexus won achieving 200 km/h in ~ 30 sec. Fuel consumption result of 6.7 literss per 100km is based on daily driving to work onboard computer results, covering 30 km one way. Journey covers 10 km in congested traffic and 20 km motorway run doing between 140-150 km/h. When driving in the urban areas only, you can achieve way better result oscillating in around 5.0l/100km. Top speed of 210 km/h is the maximum speed (according to the speedometer, limited to protect hybrid system as far a I know). Summarizing I didn't mean to put anyone in doubt, I have only shared my experience with my car. I hope this helps.
I have one 2015 F-sport model, and still love it. Yes; time to time when I'm going for family visit; transiting in Germany too, the only place where I still miss that 240-250's.. But it is what it is. You will have the moments where someone has the better/faster car, but I don't mind. In my daily life use this car is still AWESOME! (No issues, no problems just the necessary services..) Sad fact; as far as I know, they won't sell them in Europe anymore..
I have to i agree u said they are limited because the overheating battery protection, overall its great car with great comsumption
If the top speed is the only problem you found to this car, knowing that you are talking in a no speed limit situation, this car seems perfect for us in France where we can’t go over 130 😮
@@j-bc5263 just arrived into Hungary last afternoon from the UK (2100+ km) within 5.5-6.7l/100, loaded car with 2 person (including me) and trust me when I say; I floored it at some places, in Germany I went with an avg 170km/h (was in a really early morning time when I've been there), but in general was just crusing on 130-140 in France and Aus. Other fact: However greatly dissappointed, because stopped at the border just to fuel up the car, so I don't have to stop at the Germans, I fueled up the half+ tank for something 48€-s, and got a charge summ up to -110£, dunno how, but obvious was too late when I realized it, because I was far away from that station... NEVER EVER STOP THERE AGAIN... Hope the information about the car was useful :) Have fun if you gonna get one!
Only the 2021 version will not be sold in Europe i thought.
I love mine too. A luxe finish...m'y best car ever. And the best is : at the start, it seems to Scream for nothing but when you continue it seems to be unstoppable especially After 110 km/h. For me, thé Real Bad thing in this car is the sound. The false sound is stupid because it's always late, continue when it's in EV mode and don't exist in eco mode. The Real engine sound is not beautiful because it's non beautiful 4 cyl sound and e-cvt. But it could be...I Dream on crossplane 4 cylinders...lol... because engineering is incredible.

More like a lazy transmission... The old 4 speed auto trans used in the 90s were as smooth as this... Of course, they had long ratios and slow reaction times. The pedals were also tuned for slow and progressive throttle.

Hi just add throttle controller and you have the best 4 cylinder money can have,. Lower a lil and run reverse staggered tyres with good tyres and yeah
Why do these hybrid cars have to be so slow? Is it related to the drivetrain they have? This one looks like it could easily reach 240 kmH if it was not for the limiter
also this car is RWD!!!! which makes it so much better
Is this a lot better than the Toyota Corolla 2.0L Hybrid? Or would you suggest to save some money and go for the Toyota?
Lexus was better than corolla
I drive an IS300h and it is really much more better than the Corolla.
But it is Toyota. Like buy VIP in PC game 😃😃😃🙃😃
It's a premium Corolla. So yea. You like watching the same movie in 720p or 4k? It's up to you.

Yes you can adjust the volume and turn it off completely
Why doesn't this car exist in the USA? I'd buy it. I'm looking at a Camry Hybrid, but I'd go all in on an IS.

Schöner test, mir kommt es aber so vor als ob der 2020 Lexus etwas besser gedämmt ist und der 4 zylinder etwas leiser ist als meiner von 2013 :D
Nice, silent, and fast.
I have one of these, I noticed that the pedal when you press it all the way it goes, but if you push a bit harder the rev counter goes flying up. Anyone know what this is? You nearly have to have your foot flat.
This is just how the eCVT works on a Toyota Hybrid. People either love it(me) or hate it.
I’ve noticed that on my dads rx400h he goes half on the throttle the engine revs up but not a lot of speed gets clocked , then he floors it and THEN the speedo goes up
I noticed it too, it's such a "turbo", you can feel it well when overtaking, especially above 100 km / h. The pedal has a second bottom, you need to press down with more force

That noise when accelerating is terrible. I would have a headache after driving it. Thats why I bought IS250 f-sport and i dont regret it. V6 sound is great and has much better acceleration. Of course fuel consumption is much higher but i dont really care. Its a huge shame we dont have 350s in europe 😭
Anyway Lexus is best car ever 👍
he had that fake engine noise dial cranked all the way up I think, mine is not so loud.
Any reason why you didn't go for the 200t?
The price seems to be similiar, it has more power, is faster and has better fuel consumption.
@@Mortalomena no he didn't, that would have sounded differently. If you floor it, you do hear the monotonous revs. In a normal daily commute without max acceleration, you can hardly hear the engine. This car wasn't for sports and if this gives you headaches, you probably need a doctor more than you need another car.
That sound was fake sound from ASC system not the real engine. Mine is quiet even on high speeds. On a few occasions I drove 200 km/h in my IS300h and I didn’t have any headache, it was quiet. Also, IS 250 doesn’t have better acceleration than 300h. It’s similar from 0 to 100km/h, but then 300h is better 100-200.
@@milosza1384 sorry mate but 300h will be always slower. I was racing with 300h and i can tell you that it was always behind. have you tested the top speed of a regular IS300 or IS300 AWD? im about to buy one and i dont want it if the top speed is only 130 mph
Depends on what you want from the car.Hybrids like these with cvts will always have lower top speeds even tho the engine could go faster just to protect the battery. If you want hight speeds dont go for a hybrid with atkinson's cycle and cvts. These are very well rounded cars and not meant for high speeds.
haha no matter how fast you go theres always some twat in an Audi right up your behind :) Love the Lexus.
I dont understand the rpm..
Does the ASC do a good job of masking the regular engine sound/does it sound realistic? Thanks
It's making fake shifting noises while the tac isn't changing, which is idiotic and infuriating.
I think it's good. Before driving i thought it's shit, but after test drive i bought this car and i love it, u have it only on sport mode and normal, on sport mode it's louder but u can turn it off completely.
Switched on mine only once to test it, not realistic at all. Stupid and useless gimmick, you don't need to worry about the real engine sound.

How the cvt behaves when you drive normaly, i mean not full throttle. Because my only concern is the cvt it feels bad, i never tried it though
Ty:)
When normal driving it's just super smooth in the is300h. Mainly because of the 140hp electric motor in the e-cvt gearbox. Only when full throttle you hear the engine rev up. Takes some time getting used to but it's great.
@@lukas7417 ty.
Can you explain why the rpm is dancing left to right and right to left ?. Thnx bro
@TEST DRIVE FREAK i saw that blue audi in the other video :D
@@kybkap8686 it's because the computer when know your foot don't accelerate we want put in Ev de rpm gauge is not equal like tradicional ones if he put in normal driving u see that u have, charge, Eco, power, and the gauge moving when u accel or not or hard or smooth
Normal driving is where the IS300h excels. The cvt is super smooth since there's no actual gears. It's only when you're flooring the accelerator does it make a tiresome sound. I used to own BMW E46 325ci and I loved that car and the straight six sound but the repair costs killed that love pretty quickly. I've now owned the IS250 and IS300H over 4 years and not had a single repair outside of normal servicing.

Ok, Igot it! m.y.'19. Noww How to remove speed limiter? I love Lexus, it's my fourth... by speed limiter no please! So, did someone know how to remove it? Can i do in Lexus service, or it's better to talk with a smart mechanic?
Thx 🙂
It’s not possible to remove the limit. There is a technical reason for max speed on Toyota/Lexus hybrid cars and it is max RPM of the electric motor.
Nice ad for audi
LMAO the fake rev counter would make me go mad. It doesn't correlate to engine rpm or sound at all.
Is there anyway that you can open the speed limiter?
As far as I know, there's not. You're right to assume it's not power limited, but there's a technical reason why they can't go faster. The electric motors lined up after the petrol engine reach max RPM, even if there would be power left to accelerate further. Our family hybrid (with Prius 4 drivetrain) tops out at 170 so 200 feels generous to me already haha
Getting overtaken so easily by so many cars on the autobahn would definitely hurt my fragile ego.
Who cares
between 100 and 200 kph it overtakes a lot of cars and has decent acceleration
Why is that rev meter jumping around like crazy? Never saw such a behavior.
Continuously variable transmission (CVT), one conical gear with a belt that essentially makes up gears as it goes along according to your speed, throttle control etc. Works very well actually.
@tonycallahan4488 Very interesting, thanks for the hint.
@@venominjected No problem. Actually, I must correct myself a little - it is a type of CVT, and produces the same result in practical terms as the CVT I described, but the Toyota/Lexus CVT isn't belt driven (that is how the Nissan ones work); it uses a single planetary gear and 2 electric motors to function. Much more reliable and simple mechanism.
Why does it have paddle shifters if it has a cvt? Can someone explain please
It's an ecvt
@@Will-vs5kp and whats the difference?
You can use them, as for engine break. This way, you dont need to replace your brake pads and discs for at least 100 K miles.

Das müsste ein CVT sein richtig? Hört sich nicht schlecht an, nicht dieses typische CVT Geräusch

why limited to 210?
Limited to 200 GPS, 210 in accordance to the speedo.
It's limited to prevent battery damage.
@@Ramzes945 it has nothing to do with battery but with stability. building a car with aerodynamics for high top speed means giving up quite a bit of aerodynamic efficiency, making fuel economy worse. since the german market is also the only market where anyone would ever drive it that fast, its just not worth raising the top speed on a car thats designed for comfortable travel.
@@drkastenbrot Why IS200t and IS300 are not limited to 200kph then? It's same aerodynamics. RC200t and RC300 have also extended speed limit in comparison to RC300h (which has the same engine as IS300h).
@@Ramzes945 good point, didnt catch that two cars with the same body have a different top speed. it only leaves the gearbox. the max rpm for the MG2 electric motor limits the top speed if no additional gearbox is added in the hybrid model (some cars like the gs450h have an additional gearbox to allow for a higher top speed). The conventional model has a traditional gearbox and is only limited by that (and the body/suspension).
its limited just because of the gearbox final ratio.
Is this model with CVT or e-CVT?
Only hybride in eu with différent finition
It is E-CVT. No traditional belt-driven CVTs in any of the Toyota/Lexus hybrid cars.

I really wanna buy but you make me 😔
clearly this isn't meant for high speed and uphill. The battery stays depleted, which kills fuel economy. never understood the is300h. my auris 2015 hybrid gets 8-9 l/100 km @180 km/h, not too quick to get there, but nothing touches the consumption, not even a diesel.
this on the other had, may be reliable and luxurious, but it's way too expensive for the performance. it needed the 450h, with AWD, for the same money.

Do you consider buying one of this with 200.000km for 14.000€? :D

Have the batteries checked, make sure it's been taken care of and make sure you can afford the minimum maintenance for it.
As a first car I would recommend something cheaper, that you can scratch and ding without feeling sorry for it and make this your second car.
You can trust the engine but not the battery. Even with 100.000km or new. Its a really bad decision for a first car
@Lexus IS300H hey i love this car i have a is300h from 2016. Its a bad choose for the first car. 200k km is nothing for a lexus. 200k km and 14.000 euros there is no way this car is younger than 10 years.
I saw this hybrids with 500k km and all of them never had any problems with the battery. But if there is a problem he can spend a few k more. Its better to spend a few k more for a better lexus.
I thought that is limited to 200, the top of mine is 200.
Yes on GPS speed is about 200-201 kmh, on speedometer is 210 kmh
The sound is not synchronized
The Problem is the cvt still works in One gear and the gear changing Sound comes from the soundbox. It‘s not nice. My english is not that good. I‘m sorry about that.
its synchronized, the sound of the "engine" is not real, its from the speakers to make it feel more like a regular car. with cvt the engine RPM doesn't change and make unpleasant sound so the sound of the engine is not the actual sound but the synthetic sound from speakers.
Wtf is that rmp ? Oo.
Had a 2014 300h, and now I have a -11 320d. And the BMW is a better overall
Understand if you are a more spirited driver, BMW offers more on that front (better handling, punchier performance). I still think Lexus is more comfortable and the quality of everything is better (inside/leather quality, paint quality, reliability, etc.). Germans are way ahead in infotaiment though. Opinions, some people tends to hate Lexus.
Talk to me in a year when your Wallets been smashed to pieces.
I had a 2016 bmw 420d. You cant compare the quality. The handling is way better with a bmw. But now with my is300h i feel free. Love the comfort and the cheap insurance and maintenance.
