This video taught me everything I know about football. Now I play in the NFL. Thank you John Maus.
That’s really fn funny
Omg, Ronan Murphy, can I have your autograph?
Hey, man I watched that legendary touchdown in 98.
Go For It. The Touchdown.
206 likes for this comment is not enough
maybe the best music video ever?
John Maus' aesthetic appeal is both musically and visually consistent and unmatched. It is amazing how he effortlessly pulls this off.
Christiantodd1 there would be very little reason to make This if it actually was effortless, in my opinion
I agree with everything but the "effortlessly" part
I’m gonna steel man the commenter and say he makes it SEEM effortless
@@tylerfast106Steelmanning is a brilliant approach ❤
John Maus is on another level.
Joseph MC the video is supposed to be low budget and corny...that's the point lol!
Joseph MC I would suggest you look around for the very few video and written interviews conducted with Maus. The man is brilliant and that does usually translate into his music. Hope that's better than the responses you've gotten this far.
Joseph MC agreed, then

From AustiN, MinnesotA: the amazing John MauS! Best song about sports ever, eery & dark! My connection is I wrote Sports for the Austin Daily Herald & am a Record Store guy who digs this! BeYoNd GrEaT!
@MorfBeeX I think Gary Numan would totally dig this. Yesssss.
The most important artist of the 21st century.
And the best music video ever made.
Godspeed JM.
somehow he has managed to capture obscure 80s new wave so well in 2017 its haunting
We need you back, Johnny Boy! Now more than ever ❤
Can’t get over his moves at 1:36. Love it!!!
rest in peace Joseph Maus. Your tasty bass lines will always live on.
His name is John and he's still alive???
@@ransapar2259 I'm talking about his brother.
@@spirtualadvisor ahhh okay that's my bad, F
@@ransapar2259 Joseph Maus plays the bass in John’s band
i like to believe we are the player and john maus is our coach
yeah I mean that makes us the music...because the composer is coach of the sound
Yeah bc MAUS is the name of the player too so we have many levels here.
I gave your comment the hundredth like.... touchdown!
he has his Phd. i wouldnt mind being coached by maus
And the cure for aids is somewhere in this video...
Perhaps even the awnsers to all of life's questions....
the dance the football dude does during the chorus is... perfect
I totally feel you.
Yep
Groovin'
You mean the touchdown victory dance?
It’s an awesome little touch and nod to that era of football, too bad they banned doing that irl.
We need a touchdown dance like that.
God the breakdown in the middle is soo electrifying
Yes!!!
i worked a bunch of overtime at my pizza chuckin' job the weekend after this came out. this was my ultimate cigarette break back ground music...thank you john maus, you are my freakin' hero!
It's like in circa 1981 some west german experimental artist came to the us, and got inspired by the culture of the natives. :D

Haha yea for sure. I know Falco is from Austria, but I could totally see him doing something like this
He is dead tho :(
@@ObviouslyDiego No, John Maus is alive, It's his brother that passed.
When Coach Maus said "duh-duh-duh-duh-duh duh-duh-duh-duh-duh" I really felt that
Love the synth, sounds like 80's sci-fi tv show.
i kinda get 90s goosebumps vibes from it too
Should be played in all stadiums!
Jam Tong maybe people would actually start going to the games again if they played this
I predict it will and will become famous from that, he needs a Manager PR person that can sell it to the NFL.
By FORCE
super bowl half time show when?
Well that settles it, John Maus did what we all wanted to do but didn't and now he's done it and we all wish we did it but we never did and now never need to. This put him at the front of the pack, and I'll make sure everyone knows.
Your comment, in its own way, has done the very same thing.
this is the coolest song about football i've ever heard
This could easily wind up being played in football stadiums someday in the future...he made a simple and relatable song about a important point of the game. It's as good as we are the champions, but a little more specific.
I’m pretty sure this song isn’t about football 😂
Football isn't even about football.
John Maus's music is like the reverse of MK Ultra, positive programming

it's funny to read that in January 2021
@@zaratrusta79 yeah now we're all fucked, including John
@@patriceoneal2606 i don't know about John.. I don't know him personally so I wouldn't jump into conclusions.. I love his music.. but I agree we are all fucked in the sense that we as a crowd have never been so easy to manipulate and polarize, in a way not even Orwell and Huxley dreamed..
I've never met John Maus, but his mom's a close family friend. She's a really cool lady.
His mom is cool, and she'll treat you right
i'm late but i met him a week ago or so, really nice dude
@@scouttrooperhh-1487 Underrated comment lol
Do you tell her she birthed a legend?

The drum part is so gangster. Especially when it comes to the change ups, accompanied by the bass, this song would make a great hip hop break beat, but it gains this totally different aesthetic once you factor in the ‘glittery’ twinkling synth arpeggios! The video, with its filtering with solarizing effects, or whatever it is that gives it that fuzzy exposure, has its own visual aesthetic that really is perfectly matched to the music. Couldn’t have made a better more perfect video to accompany this song. The back drop beat though, could be a straight up hip hop anthem! John Maus - the most Un-SPAM thing from Austin Minnesota!
What an hypnotic song.
It truly feels like an infinitely never-ending football game, in the best mesmerizing way. Also, a decent way to relate with and calm down your father.
You know what.......I will. Thanks man.
This is my personal favorite Christmas song.
Same here.
This music video is a gift to humanity. Love it.
This is forever hard.
This song was inspired by frequent hallucinations John Maus used to have wherein his high school football coach would encourage him to go for the touchdown. This advice would up being pretty solid, as it led to John’s musical success.
"I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange."
it's agents Cooper quote
+HULUNGO ha ha
Poor Coop. My sweet boy is lost forever.
for-ev-er.
You remind me of a small mexican chihuahua
this is absurdly good
awesome.
Another touchdown from Dr. Maus
Upon my second viewing I have decided that this is one of my favorite music videos of all time.
Still is for me also.
Incredible visuals by JJS
Awesome song, sounds like a song about football by a goth who never watched a sporting event let alone football on his life. Radness.
I believe Maus is actually a fan of football, if his Twitter feed is to be believed.
More like what football would look like on the ild Sci Fi show Lexx.
Regardless, still love it.
you can tell he knows about football based on the lyrics
Kristi Barto F O R W A R D D R I V E A C R O S S T H E L I N E
John played football in high school. The song is inspired by his coach's encouragement.
Every year i come to give love to this absolutely unique artist ❤
Best music vid I've seen in ages! It has that early-MTV kind of appeal - very striking, memorable imagery with almost no budget.
It's like he was just fucking around with sound equipment in his basement and came up with this masterpiece. I love it.
Easily one of the best songs/videos of 2017. Thank you for your return Mr. Maus, we have missed you.
This song should come on at every 4th down in the NFL.
Watching this instead of the Super Bowl
5 years later, me also.
yes, this is wayyy better!
I am in love with John Maus
Same *_*
John, my man, this was EXCELLENT. Keep them running cowboy!
total cheese. he does the vcr aesthetic wonderfully really. im glad to see it and not be disappointed. i like him very much.
Go for the Touchdown, KC '23!!!! :D
I also thought it was going to be dumb at first, but this is absolutely some of the most surreal shit I've ever seen/heard.
My favourite artist of my generation. Absolute genius
Can't wait for friday.
THANK GOD FOR JOHN MAUS
Love this. Doesn’t get old. Reminds me of my sister.
i don't know what impossibly alien realm John Maus came here from but I hope he stays on Earth forever
Here we go, so freakin stoked for the album, this track RULES
This is the greatest music video of all time.
Reminds me of a dream I once had
This video got me into football

This should have millions of views. Amazing song amazing video.
I play this before every superbowl
john maus = the truth
thank heavens ur back
can't decide which I like better: the song or the video
TOUCH DOWN!!!!
ITS A WIN FOR THE HOME TEAM
🏆 ✌️
I am so sorry you are not more popular John Maus; it should be music like this at the forefront to inspire the next generation. These artists give me hope that the Creative Force is still thriving, but hidden. Good luck for the rest of you treasure hunters; the gems are scattered, but they're there.
This is already inspiring the next generation, you don't need to be famous to be influential
@@kelechi_77 I hope you're right🙏🏻
Go for the touchdown. Yes, the touchdown!
Fourth down at the goal
Playing at a chance for the Super Bowl down
By two five seconds to go fourth down, super bowl
You’ve got to dismiss the field goal
Forward drive across the line!
Touchdown
Yes, the touchdown go for the touchdown

This is actually terrible football advice. But I respect that mr Maus knows some football vocab. Also this song SLAPS
@@maxhinz8928 he's said that this song was inspired by hallucinations of his football coach telling him to go for the touchdown, and that following through on the advice usually went well, so i think the point is that there are certain situations in which throwing yourself at the problem with reckless abandon rather than taking a calculated "sensible" approach is better.
X That’s h*ckin tight
@@maxhinz8928 Make the field goal and he’ll achieve victory.
