Just heard this song for the first time from my patient. She wanted to listen classic country music, when she heard this song she got so excited and sing out loud. She is 96 years old and have dementia and still remember the lyrics. I bet she had a very fun times in her younger years. 💖💖💖💖

    "CASH ON JUNE"

June certainly tried to erase Johnny's first wife out of his life and even claimed their children as hers. Both were married when she and Johnny met. They broke poor Vivian's heart. After I Iearned that, I can't listen to June any more.

Very Cool .. 3 Chords .. Another Gem !! Johnny Cash nails it where Country Music meets with Mariachi Horns. What a fantastic idea !! The early 60's Country Music scene was blown away by this song & approach. What an explosive time for the development of what we know today as Classic Country and it's amazing that Johnny was right there with his fantastic contributions to the Era !! This song still sounds great at my live gigs. (pre Covid) .. and it works well on the Cruise Ship gigs as well. People Love it !! My Students love to learn and play this song as well. If you need it transposed into a different key to make it easier to sing, i can help you with that as well. Gotta Love the Classics. ;-) Thanks for posting this video. ;-)

The Mexican mariachi influence was very prevalent, especially those horns. Johnny Cash did mention his vocal monotone also had to maintain a roughness to make this song work!
It has serenade quality, just like a mariachi band.

We were stopping at little country restaurants along the way to eat and they were all playing this song and Folsom Prison Blues too on the jukebox. I had no idea who Johnny Cash was at the time because my parents didn't listen to country-western music. Hi! Was trying to decide on my best oldie of all time... I couldn't come up with just one song. A lot of songs are my favorite. But I will say... #1... Johnny Cash, the Long Black Veil, (Orange Blossom special album) the woman's wail!!... haunting! #2... Again, Johnny Cash with the Carter family singing backup, Were you There? Again, the haunting vocal harmony of those women! #3... Leroy Van Dyke, Walk on By. And, #4
.. Norman Greenbaum, Spirit in the Sky. I still have so many favorite songs that I love from the old days when we played actual vinyl records to nowadays listening to some of the top rock. I like the old country and western music, very select few of nowadays. That makes me sound limited but I love music and open to any genre. My mama loved Floyd Cramer instrumental music, I still love that also. Nice talking to you.
