Thank you Cheryl we need to speed up what our Autistic community want more of autism awareness in the work place and everywhere we must modernise our world. We have the same problem in the uk. More understanding now
I agree 100% and my wheels are turning trying to figure out as many ways as possible in which I can do my part! :) Thanks for always commenting - I feel like I'm getting to know you through RUclips, and I find myself looking forward to your replies. Have a wonderful day, Helen! :)
This is really useful since I think I went over some burnout las year and recognize the pattersn mentioned. In my case what helped is understand the situation and work on acoomodations.
@@respergu13 Nice! I always feel better when I do yoga, but it's hard to get motivated to do it. I really need to try and get into the habit. I'm glad it works for you! 🙂
Another Great vídeo! 😊 Thank you Cheryl! 😊 I Love how you dig into the data and bring these really well fundamented bombshells of information that absolutely Must be addressed. 85% *of graduate students*!!! This makes absolutely no sense! 😨
Civilization that is based on monetary expression of self-worth will always be biased. Living within the information enthropy, at this point, all we can do is support one another
85% has been debunked. And it focused on both unemployment and under employment. But it still is extremely high and one of the highest. Depends on the country, but most are closer to 40%-60% unemployment. And then under employment is extremely high. And even those who get a job about 65% aren't able to hold down it long term. And about the off ourself thing. Some studies show 75% of us desire or attempted at some point. If I remember right the average autistic person is 25x more likely than a average person. Then high iq autistic is 7x more than the average autistic. Anyways, I think the solution is for society to simply accept working isn't for everyone. Not as a choice thing, but as a possibility. And the focus largely should be on quality of life with limited income and resources than shoving a square in a triangle hole. But this likely will never happen because a ton of people along with he powers to be is arguing against basic quality of life things. Like many argue that you shouldn't be able to live off of min wage with no gov assistance if you work full time. Basically they argue for slavery with more steps. So if nt can't even treat others with basic respect. Why would they with us?
Hmm, what can we do... 🤔 Maybe: - get together, and work through our diversity into building a common identity (as prismatic as it might be) and understanding of our plural needs - Advocate, for better knowledge and inclusion of ASDs, and stressing the Strengths that our different way of perceiving reality can bring... - and maybe build up together a definition of good practices for accommodating ASD needs (keeping in mind that not every ASD will have the same needs or be OK with the same accommodations), a set of simple strategies... Then go knocking at every big company's door with it! But there's more, I'm sure we could do tons of things to change this... I hope more people write their thoughts! I'm already rolling my sleeves... 😊
Oh, and in countries with disability inclusion policies (that offer support to enterprises who hire people with disabilitiea), advocate for an ASD-specific inclusion quota. I wonder if it exists anywhere, already? It could be a good way of supporting the mentality shift that's needed...
Part of it might be for autistic people to more accurately access their own strengths and skills. I know it took trial and error for me to discover how well truck delivery driving at night worked. I work mostly alone when people are in bed, and traffic is light. And right now, I work around 30 hours a week for around $70k a year. I think this type of job is ideal for many autistic people.
Great insight! I had never thought of that, but maybe it would make sense to share successful ASD job positions and arrangements, as to inspire others... 😊 @@JeremiahSenner

It really doesn't! And at the same time, I have a college degree, and I am struggling.
@@Cheryl_Frazierwe really have to turn this around. 😔

@user-ny9vb8mx3w Support as we move forward is very helpful in my opinion 😊
@Cheryl_Frazier Well, moving forward is a lucrative term when talking about infodynamics
PS, it’s more of any expansion rather than moving forward ❤
