Thanks - I had a pair of Momentum 1s and was going crazy trying to put the pads back on these 3s the old way, trying to thread the leather in the tiny crack without removing that ring. It was so easy after watching your video!
If anyone is struggeling to get it back into the rig. Check the orientation of the ring. Maybe its facing the wrong side (inside instead of outside). It has a small border that needs to face inside!
Don't actually need a pry tool. When you're pulling the pads off, you will notice it pulls the plastic piece just a little bit, if you go slow enough, you can catch it with your nails, simply pry up that way (and stop pulling on the earpads at that point)
I found very useful your viedeo, but I would have found still more useful if you had explained with more detail how to put the earpad back in. I finally managed, but I struggled a bit. Anyway, the video really helped, thank you very much.
Its a tragedy that Microsoft has let halo fall so far from grace, Martin O'donnel is still the greatest game composer of all time in my opinion and I will listen to the sweet jazz of odst till the end of my days

My existing M3 pad start to have bad smell that I have to clean it with shoe shampoo regularly. My M2 never has bad smell problem anymore since replacement with PU pad. I replaced it at the same time I got M3 and I use M2 longer due to battery duration is better. I think something to do with PU leather is unbreathable, oil cannot penetrate. I'm considering to replace M3 with PU pad soon to get rid of bad smell.
My noise canceling on the right side is a bit less bassy and doesn’t feel very stereo if you know what I mean will buying replacement ear pads work? Thanks
"Here, let me just pry this part of the headphone off and show you how to get the earpad around it." *proceeds to do the entire repair out of camera-frame, only coming back into frame once it's done.* "And there you have it, it's done!"

Do you think the Momentum 3 pads would fit on the Momentum 2? its getting hard to find replacements for M2 and I can get some M3 replacement pads. Thanks
I've just bought some momentum 3 pads for my M2's as can't find replacement black M2 pads anywhere. The store I bought them from claims they will fit, however the M2s don't have a removable clip like in the video so it's gonna be a pain in the ass getting them on..
@@kitman8 Got them on! Gave up a couple times as it was so frustrating, but once i realised how to do it was pretty simple. First one took me about 45 mins, second one about 2 mins! Would definitely recommend, they feel so much better with the larger cups, and I think they sound better too.
@@tkf6449 that ain't the problem. They do align up nicely, but they won't snap into place. I even tried with just the oval plastic frame, and I can't fit that on there either. I wonder if they changed some tolerances down the line. My fingers hurt - that is how much and hard I have tried to squeeze these into place. Weird. Right not I feel like I have no other choice, than visit the local Sennheiser distributor and have their repair guy give it a try.
What would you suggest to do if the ear touches the inner part of the speaker? I had that happening on the left speaker after three weeks. Could the cushion be stuffed up with more foam to make it slightly thicker? Is the foam accessible or sewn in?
It would be pretty tough to slit the current ear pads and stuff more foam inside because it is sewn in. I would suggest trying out the Brainwavz replacement earpads link: amzn.to/2uShSq6 and giving that a shot since it seems that the earpads are thicker than the original. Only drawback is that it is PU leather and not real leather like the original. Thanks
Your could buy some bigger pads. I've fit mine with Brainwavez angled HM5s because I got headaches with the stock pads. I didn't notice an acoustic degredation either so that's a bonus. The sound stage mayve be a little wider, and the noise cancelling doesn't work as well. If they do become an issue I can switch them out easy enough. Sound stage is a little wider
does this work for the right side (the side with buttons?) I cant seem to snap it loose. I also dont see a ring there, but only the whole side as one plastic piece
this needs to be further up! i struggled a lot getting the old ring onto the new earpads. when I finally succeeded I realized that I now have two rings on both new earpads
@@tkf6449 you're a legend for replying. I can get it on without the muffs. Clicks in easily. But with the muffs on I'm just struggling. Can hear a click or 2 from the north south positions but can't get the other little snaps in. So sad

What are the big bumps under the padding? Is it normal?
Every unit has them, its not a flaw. They are the NC microphones or something
