    Great work Tim, this looks fantastic, and one sheet 10x8 is perfect for me. Quality not quantity ;)

      Our exhaustive marketing research (okay, the guys we know that shoot 8x10), shows that most large, large format users process only 2 or 3 sheets at a time. Often they are processing for N-1 or N+.5 etc; so one sheet at the time is fine.
      Of course, there are other that do more. One potential user emailed that he wants to place an order for four as soon as possible!

    I love your sp-445 by far the best way to develop 4x5 (and I have tried everything in 40 years). Now that I have my 8x10 camera again I am looking forward to this tank. I definitely will be on board for the kickstarter.

      The SP-1810 is on indefinite hold. However, we're got something even better in mind. The SP-Ultra: 2 sheets of 8x10, 4 sheets of 5x7 or 8 sheets of 4x5 in 1 liter. Hope to put out a formal announcement in the next week or so.

      @@timklein185 From a business perspective that sounds like a better product. One that reaches several different LF groups instead of one. I hope you're successful with this new concept. I love the idea of being able to do 2 sheets of film in a liter solution. Thanks for your hard work in developing this product

    I was so disappointed we didn't hit the goal for the first 8x10 build - but this seems like a far better solution anyway! I can't wait for testing to complete, so I can order mine asap :)

      Yeah, me too. I backed it, but he was right to cancel the kickstarter, it wasn't going to make the funding goal. This does look like a much better product. :)

    Good luck Tim! I am rooting for you and can't wait for the Kickstarter. Just let me know when it starts! Thanks, John D.

    Just processed our first sheet of film in the prototype: here's a link: www.flickr.com/photos/145354246@N05/43722127452/in/dateposted-public/
    Tom found it very easy to load; didn't leak as much as I expected. The development looks great!

      It's been pushed back by other projects. Hopefully we'll get back on it soon.

    Would this work for a 4 X 10 negative?

    • @timklein185
      @timklein185  6 лет назад

      Could probably be made to work. Not sure if the negative would creep down into the tank.

    Could you make it with two interleaved "tacos" to hold two sheets at a time?

    • @timklein185
      @timklein185  6 лет назад +1

      We've looked at that option. However, we think loading it would be more complicated and not sure how much chemistry it would save you.

      more interested in saving time than liquid :)

    Nice design, but when your using x-ray film (it's cheaper )it won't work. Most of the x-ray film has on both sides emulsion.

    • @timklein185

      We realize that limitation but decided to optimize for the mainstream. There are some single sided x-ray films.

    It would appear that this would work for a sheet of 5x7. Is that true?

    • @dwerg85
      @dwerg85 6 лет назад

      I don't see why it wouldn't work even with a 4x5

    • @timklein185
      @timklein185  6 лет назад

      Sorry to disappoint but probably not. Smaller sheets aren't long enough to hold themselves in place.

      We're still working on this: shop.stearmanpress.com/blogs/news/sp-257a-processing-5x7-in-the-sp-445
      New prototype should be finished next week.
