Skyrim is a land home to many peoples, and among the most interesting are the Khajiits. An ancient, feline-like species of humanoid that have inhabited Tamriel since the beginning of recorded time. The Khajiits of The Elder Scrolls 5 are most commonly found as apart of large trade caravans, however some have integrated even deeper in Skyrim's life. Nonetheless, there's more to these cat-folk than meets the eye. So today we'll be taking a look at five things they never told you about the Khajiits of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

In the Shivering Isles dlc for Oblivion Sheogorath asks, 'Who puts cats in bags, anyway? Cats hate bags.' More BS. Cats love to play in bags, especially paper bags that make a lot of noise. I know a lot about cats. I didn't get a dog until I was in my late teens. Until I always had at least one cat.

And I know so much about cats because I always had at least one cat until I was well into my teens, when I got my first dog. Many of my cats loved to play in paper bags and make a lot of noise. From a certain age I would help the grandma who helped raise me take care of our cats, and learned even more. When I got my first dog she started teaching me how to care for dogs. I used a lot of what she taught me to get an eight month old Chihuahua puppy through parvovirus. The Chihuahua, who I named Duchess, celebrated her fifth birthday last month and is doing wonderfully. I used what grandma taught me to get the puppy to start eating again. It was the first time I had to take care of such a sick puppy on my own, but I did it.

There's one thing I've wanted this game to acknowledge for the races, quests you can do based on your characters race doing various things and only as that race, that would give replaying a lot more value with each race.
Lol in Skyrim one of the NPC called me a Nord (i almost always play as a kahjit) and that the caravans don't even acknowledge the fact your also a kahjit in a place where they are rare is confusing to me.
It's odd how picky they are about it, because there's also details like in "Diplomatic Immunity" that a properly disguised High Elf can breeze through the quest in broad daylight.
Imagine if you pick a Kahjit and the guards wouldn't let you in until you've proven yourself by doing quests for people outside the walls or paid a fine, but at the same time can fast travel anywhere for free using kahjit caravans. It would be cool!
There is just one point where this happens in plain vanilla:? If you se talmor robes and is an altmer you can walk arfound the thalmor without conflict

There actually IS one non-follower khajiit npc who can be encountered in a city in the base game. Tsavani or Shavari (I can't remember her name) the "cook" at the Thalmor Embassy. Seen as it's pretty easy to miss her you might not have noticed her walking around Rifton as you get Esbern out of the Ratway. If you're meeting her in the Ratway, she'll attack you, but if you meet her in the streets of Rifton, she'll just be hissing at you.

2 things:
1) there are theorised to be more than 20 khajiit breeds, including the Mane, but 12 (13 with Mane) are documented.
2) during the void nights, Khajiit may have been born as Suthay (Massar new/Secunda new) which are similar to Ohmes and look like Bosmer - could ve an interesting plot point for the next ES game

There's actually a total of 16 Khajiit breeds. Their breeds are dependent on the phases of Nirn's twin moons, Masser and Secunda. Masser's phase decides whether the Khajiit is a large/small quadruped/biped, and Secunda's phase decides which specific breed. I'll keep it as a simple list:
Masser Full (Large Quadruped):
Secunda Full: *_Senche:_* The Senche is a fierce, tiger like Khajiit not unlike the Pahmar-raht and is roughly the size of an Altmer when standing on its hind legs. The Senche is also one of the few Khajiit to be used as a steed by other Khajiit. This is thought to be voluntary, but is unconfirmed.
Secunda Waxing: *_Senche-Raht:_* The Senche-raht is by far the largest of known Khajiit breeds, standing at twice the size of any Altmer. These Khajiit received the term "battlecats" for their use as steeds, though they are slower than their Senche counterparts.
Secunda New: *_Pahmar:_* Sharing the appearance of a Tiger, the Pahmar is usually just as large and fearsome.
Secunda Waning: *_Pahmar-Raht:_* Similar in appearance to the Pahmar, but is much larger, stronger and fiercer.
Masser Waxing (Large Biped):
Secunda Full:
*_Cathay:_* The Cathay are a relatively common type of Khajiit seen throughout Cyrodiil and Skyrim. They're larger and stronger than Suthay-raht.
Secunda Waxing:
*_Cathay-Raht:_* Still maintaining their agility, the Cathay-Raht are larger and more powerful jaguar-like Khajiit, often described as "jaguar-men."
Secunda New:
*_Tojay:_* There is little known of the Tojay, other than that it prefers the Tenmar Forest and southern marshes and jungles of Elsweyr.
Secunda Waning: *_Tojay-Raht:_* Little is known of the Tojay-raht, other than that it is larger than the Tojay and lives in the same area.

*_Ohmes:_* Almost indistinguishable from Bosmer, the only notable anatomical difference between the Ohmes and Bosmer is the Ohmes' shorter height.

*_Dagi:_* Larger in stature than the Alfiq, the Dagi are lanky, lightweight Khajiit that typically live atop the branches of trees.
Secunda Waning: *_Dagi-Raht:_* Only slightly larger than the Dagi, the Dagi-raht still live atop the branches of trees like their cousins.

Are we sure Ysolda isn't secretly one of the more 'Human' looking Khajiit? It would explain why she gets such good deals, maybe shes trading as the face of them and setting up a way into the cities and respectability for the Khajiits.

the Bosmer were also true natives to tamriel, as they used to be shapeshifting creatures forced to choose a form by Yphre. It's believed that this is also the orgin of the Khajiit.
Somehow, I think the void nights were simply a giant illusion.
I am fairly certain the two moons of Tamriel have similar power over the ocean currents, that our moon has over our oceans. Their disappearance could do more than simply determine what kind of kitty is born.

A Khajiit can also be found in the town of Riften if you do the Dragonborn main questline to get Esburn, they are sent there to try and kill you and can be seen in town before you even go down into the ratway.

I really feel like that we could have a ES game around the "void nights", where it's set in Elswyer getting us some major lore about this race, that and we can see this so called desert and tropical land.
Personally, I do say the Thalmor made them disappeared, and the Thalmor brought them back in order to get the Khajiit's to fall under their banner.
Would be cool... but I doubt we'll get it.
Well, we haven't visited Elswyer in-game, yet... so it's still very possible! Honestly, it sounds like it'd make a fun game

18:09 - That would make a lot of sense from the Thalmor perspective. If the theory on the towers is correct then the Thalmor want to wipe out all of the "lesser races" as part of ascending back to godhood, but presumably not other elven races. If they're not sure whether the Khajiit count as a "lesser race" or as an elven race then it would make sense for them to try and find out. And the moons are supposedly part of Lorkhan. Maybe they thought that Lorkhan's corruption had mutated their elven brethren into a "lesser race" and they might be able to "save" them this way. And maybe others thought that wasn't the case at all. So in other words, they'd want to do this experiment to find out whether the Khajiit are merely a "corrupted" elven race to be saved or a "lesser race" to be wiped out with the rest.

The Khajiit ear back-folding was a thing in Oblivion too in the speech minigame (maybe in combat too?). About the Void Nights, I think the High Elves did it on purpose so later they can "save" the Khajiit and gain their alliance.
Some suspect that, upon the first founding of the Aldmeri Dominion, they did something similar by creating an artificial disease that nearly eradicated the Khajiit and to a lesser extent the Bosmer, before creating a cure and using it to leverage the Khajiit into the Dominion. To put it very roughly, that is - it's been a while since I've played ESO.
The elves also claimed that they ended the oblivion crisis on their own. I think that its more likely Azura might have gotten angry at the Khajiit and blocked out the sun. Then she made them re appear, and the thalmor were like "Hey guys we did that!"

@@VINCE-pp3es depending on who was the female and who was the male, it may not be that weird. small male dogs get with bigger females ALL the time, and usually there's no issue. it's only when it's reversed it becomes dangerous since the mother has to birth puppies much bigger than her body should be able to handle.

Khajiits are very useful for missions, because of their sneak levels already and others, they have a better time getting the sneak missions done than anything else, but because they are overused to most Skyrim players, it makes them very easy to make memes of. Truly though, khajiits are very VERY useful, since most missions (that I’ve done) are sneak missions already.

I would love to see those four legged and two legged khajite running along the shore yeeting Spears and lobbing arrows at the big wooden boat and it’s crew. A tiny detail I discovered today is that Draugr can be hit by rune spells while still in their coffins. I wanted to set up traps in Dustman's Cairn for the horde that was going to arrive but it actually hit them and caused them to attack me. I was able to take them out on my own time using this method rather than facing them in waves like I usually do after getting the Word Wall/Shards of Wuuthrad.
you can sneak attack the draugrs while they are in the standing coffins stand beside them and when you attack your weapon will clip on and hit them

I'm not sure if it had any credence, but I always thought Khajiit were elves that Azura favored and took *Elsewhere* and favored, as she weighs heavily in their mythology and they can still appear sometimes as elves.

Not all khajiit are related plus Saber cats could just be wild animals and not related to the khajiit species at all

A few weeks ago I started a new game in survival. I am playing a khajiit. Better damage with an open hand than with a dagger in the beginning and the resistance to cold is most beneficial. I was playing an argonian and that had me at a severe disadvantage.

Honsetly, I always wondered how it is that catfolk and races with fur came to dominate a hot and desert-like landscape without issues.
Temperate and colder climates make sense, especially when i find the twolegged kahjiit look alot like lynxs. It makes sense that they were likely driven out of them areas long ago to a much less desireable landscape to take over.

Humans are alot more active with a busier life style than id assume of alot of big cats.
Mainly looking at the more humanoid khajiiti that is.
I assume alot of khajiit dont have the privillage to lay in the shade or all day when they need to cool off, and with clothing and armour on top of that.
I assume they dont sweat anywhere but their paw pads like regular cats due to being covered entierly with fur, which would limit their ability to cool off. Cats do lick themselves and let the siliva evaporate to mimic sweating but ive never personally heard of khajiiti doing this in game or in lore (Not that ive read all lore)
The closests argument you could make is for Senches who likely cant do much beyond that of a regular wild cat despite being able to talk and are just as intelligent as their human counter parts.
The more house cat Kahjiit could compare to sandcats but even then Sandcats make burrows to avoid the overly hot/freezing temps of the desert and certain features like large ears to radiate heat better and furry paws to protect their pawpads from the hot ground.
I could go on. Somewhere in the lore there might be an explaination or info the debunk the idea, but witht he knowledge that i do have, to assume khajiiti work the same as wild cats of today is --not only an insult to the khajiiti lol-- but i dont feel is entierly considering how the race of khajiit work
