Hello fellow Canadian 👋🇨🇦 That's such a smart idea for patterns. Usually the start of a project is also the most fun so it makes sense to just work on it for a bit until you got what you wanted and then pick something else.

I'm really trying. It's hard sometimes as there are so many beautiful and fun patterns out there. But I hate knitting something to just have it sit in my closet
Thank you for your video! A great bunch of ideas. I'm drawn to patterns which give me a lot of inspiration, which I both want to knit and wear. And which can be easily transformed into sth else (eg from a sweater to a T-shirt). I knitted a lot according to the patterns by Alena Sitalkina which are easily read and presented in the form of both a scheme and a text. The things are very laconic, classical and can be paired with a lot of clothes. And the main thing for me is the perfect fit.
i just finished up knitting shorts and a knit crop top as a matching set. it’s amazing. can’t stop wearing it around the house, but i live in virginia so it’s not that cold here. really satisfying bc i free handed both and they both fit perfectly:)
I have made three Port Jackets for myself and two daughters in various unspun yarns. We just love them. They are so cosy, warm and easy to wear. I intend to make another for myself - again using Nutiden yarn held double. Thank you for your lovely podcasts.
Hello, being a process knitter, I dont want anything boring to knit. I have more items in my closet than I could ever wear so I only knit for pleasure, no matter what colour, fit etc. Some of your chosen patterns look attractive to me, skirts, câbles, I agree on dropped shoulders not looking élégant, I also find bulky underarms not nice looking.
It's definitely nice to have projects that teach you new skills and keep you engaged. I always have a mix, but find myself lately gravitating towards more complex projects.
I LOVE your sweater dress plan. I've wanted to make something similar for a while, but I keep putting it off. And I've knit the book club cardigan. It was such a fun knit! Your concerns are valid, though, and you also mentioned not preferring drop shoulders. So maybe it wouldn't quite work for you. I always appreciate how thoughtful you are with your projects.
Can’t wait to see the progress on the dress!! Brioche in cardigans I actually think is perfect bc working brioche flat means you never have to do a purl brioche, only knit so you kind of get into a rhythm. In fact when I am asked to do brioche in the round I often prefer to modify to knit flat and seam to make the knitting process more fun :)
Thanx for another lovely podcast! I found your channel through a mention in the Mostlyknitting podcast and I watched all your episodes now. Really enjoyed them. I’m looking for a nice textured cardigan pattern as well for autumn and I love the look of the Siri cardigan Solo by Lene Holme Samsœ. It’s for DK weight yarn. But I’ll make the Field cardigan by Camilla Vad first. I knitted the Field sweater before and I just love the grains in the pattern.
Right now I’m knitting the Book Club Cardigan and I’m really loving it, it is so addictive but it is true that you have to put a lot of attention because it is very easy to make a mistake ❤
The agnete cardigan is really nice. I have swatched for it and am holding off on casting on until I finish a couple of other WIPs. I find that brioche knitting is much easier flat than it is in the round, so fingers crossed, you have more luck with this pattern 😊
I think that dark colored cable sweaters are gorgeous. But my advice would be to do a little swatch with the cable motif using that yarn to see how you like it. I’m so excited to see what you make this season!
I just watched your summer wear test video and I‘m really intrigued by the skirt matching set idea you mention. Maybe you could chose a colour and yarn type for the skirt that matches one of your favorit already existing summer top knits? 👀
I think you should do zipper sweater with Peer Gynt. I'm doing the LuLu Slipover (vest) with Peer Gynt and really loving the fabric. The cardigan shown before it in your video with vneck and cropped style would also be my vote for you! Have fun!
I do love Peer Gynt! I couldn't find the right colour for my zipper sweater so I went with Filcolana, but I do want to find something to knit with Peer Gynt again as my Louvre is one of my favourites.
Amazing Plans! I think a skirt + sweater (or long sleeved fitted t-shirt?) set would look so good on you! I wish skirts outside of summer would make sense for me but that's just not the case. I can highly recommend Knitpicks alpaca cloud lace whenever you need a bit more drape and/or a halo but don't want to use mohair. I have used it together with all kinds of yarns many times and it was always a win. For the zipper sweater - I love the pattern and love wearing it but I would definitely make the light version. The regular Zipper sweater is too warm and heavy for everyday use.
Good tip. Someone suggested Filcolana arwetta to give it more stability and then using the isager alpaca like a mohair. I think that would help with stretching
Drops alpaca is very drapy, for sure! I love it for hats etc, but i Think it will stretch way too much for a dress if not paired with something more substantial to keep the shape :-) arwetta or a “normal” baby merino would be soft and nice
This is great advice. I love the Arwetta yarn and that was originally what I was thinking as well but then was thinking I have already used the Filcolana + mohair combo before and wanted to branch out. But I like the idea of using it paired with a lace weight Alpaca instead of mohair. I bet that would be really nice combo. Totally agree on Isagers mohair being the softest. My absolute favourite!
Hi Sheri! I really enjoy your podcast and your thoughtful insights on your knitting. Have you heard about the K2P2 festival being organized in Breda, NL this November by It Is A Sarah? It's probably not too far from Amsterdam. Greetings from an American expat in Germany 😊
Hey, thanks for the video. About the Zimmersweater: I knit mine last year in August and wore it like all the time (im form Germany) starting in September when we were on vacation on the North Sea up to like march/April this year. I loved It so much that I casted on a second one. I did the regular Zippersweater, not the light.
Omg I made the zipper sweater with mohair and it is a regret knit for me. I never wear it because of the mohair on my neck. It was one of my first knit sweaters though so I learned a lot from it and don’t wanna unravel or give away yet 🥲 I wish I would have made the light version. I think I would actually use that for sure.
Did you already cast on the dress? 😊 Alpaca + mohair is super warm combination, like way more warm than just wool. That might be something you want to consider - for myself that would be a too warm garment to wear e.g. at the office or when visiting someone (in my home it's always colder than in other places so at home I could use it 😅). Then about the Book club cardigan 😍 It really looks amazing but I also think that worsted weight with cables is too chunky. I recommend you to check the Fouetté cardigan by Celine Feyten, it has similar kind of look but it is lighter weight.
Gave on update on the dress in my newest podcast yesterday but I think I've decided to hold off as I got the Sezane dress to try on and it doesn't look as good as I expected. I agree on the book club cardigan! I'll check out thee cardigan you mentioned as I don't think I've seen that one before
Hi there, I'm currently knitting on both the BookClub cardigan and the Zipper Sweater. The BCC is actually not very heavy if you combine Ulysse with Mohair BUT it uses more meterage than the pattern suggests. I don't know why that is but I've heard it from other knitters in the KAL as well. For my Zipper Sweater I'm using BC Garn Loch Lomond and Camarose Midnatsol. I love knitting both projects and am looking forward to wearing them. Thank you for a lovely podcast episode!
Thank you for reminding me about Rust Knitwear. She does have some really gorgeous patterns and I always forget about them. That jacket is definitely a great option for me
Perhaps you’ve already come across this video but RUclips’s Mostly Knitting has a video entitled “Tutorial: Turning a Sweater into a Dress - Adding A-line Shaping for the Hips”. Your videos are great! Greeting from Winnipeg.🇨🇦
I've set aside knitting for olive bottle green merino and mohair for the Braidy Loop Sweater. I know it's a dark yarn but I loved the Snowy Forest sweater that came out a few years ago in the Laine magazine in the dark grey/green. So I think the blue/green Zealana yarn could work. My friend wore her Agnete Cardigan to knit night a couple days ago and it is BEAUTIFUL. If I wasn't afraid of knitting it, I would do it in a heartbeat! I'm just not convinced I'm up for the challenge yet but it is on my 'one day' list.
Agnete + Braidy Loop knit along in our future? 😉 I am going to get some mohair and swatch for the braidy loop in that gorgeous yarn and hopefully it works. Your bottle green version will be gorgeous and look so good with your skin tone.
I look forward to seeing your progress on the skirts. I have always wanted to knit a skirt, but I'm concerned it will just stretch out very quickly. I suppose one would have to line it.
I’ll keep you posted how it holds up. I think with the 3 needle bind off it has a bit of extra structure at the sides to help keep it more secure. But we shall see
Hi there, this is the first time I have watched your podcast - it was recommended by gals in my knit group. I have subscribed. Similar to the brioche cardigan is the Maybury cardigan by Ami Lowden. It is fisherman’s rib so perhaps an alternative? If you would like quite a casual look to a dress - I have been knitting with the Drops Soft Tweed which is DK and is part wool and part alpaca. It is lovely to knit with and similar to Rowan felted tweed at a fraction of the cost. I buy it from Wool Warehouse. I’m currently knitting the Mabel cardigan with it and it has good drape. Margaret in Vancouver.
Hi , I've same doubt for the Book club cardigan. It is beautiful but also for me too chunky and I do not know if will have a lot of possibility to use it ( I'm also as you and expat living in Munich). What I'm thinking to do is to keep the pattern for summer and knit it with cotton. I think for the summer evening in the city we are would be perfect. I dit the same for the ester jacket and I hag a lot of use of it.

Hi Sheri, I have a bunch of Isager Soft in the E4S Dark Brown Undyed colorway that I'd be happy to send you for your dress! I think that would make a gorgeous fabric. I also love the look of the Port Sweater but I keep coming back to the new Tulip Loop by Other Loops.
This is such a kind offer Leigh! I think I’m going to go with a cream for the dress but that Isager soft would make a perfect levitate wrap. Let me know how much you want for it! The tulip sweater is so beautiful. I have that saved for the future as well. So many other loops patterns and not nearly enough time
@@Goodknits_ I was just going to send you the Isager yarn whenever I receive your Tolsta tee as a thank you! I was already going to de-stash it so no need to compensate me :)
I have knit the Mint Tulip skirt from Drops Design in Drops Karisma, and really enjoy wearing it. When it comes to sweaters with a zipper, I have made the Urban Polar sweater by Witre Design. I did not enjoy sewing in the zipper and I hated the feeling of the zipper against my chin when it was fully closed, so I eventually donated that sweater. As for dresses, I have planned to hold Filcolana Pernilla together with Isager Alpaca 1 to give it a bit more warmth.
Good point about the zipper...shame you had to donate your piece but hopefully it found a new happy home. I am thinking now a similar idea for the dress yarn - Filcolana Arwetta + Alpaca 1.
I also live in the Netherlands and I LIVE in my zipper sweater. Love it ❤ but I wouldn’t take insta pictures anymore because it’s looking rough after all the wear.😅
on the bookclub cardigan , i started it but frogged it. it was my first cables attempt and im not a fan of knitting flat. but also - a lot of people have said that the yarn required is super off than what the pattern says so i would check ravelry for more on that
Did not know about the Port Jacket - love it: I think it would be great for my hand spun BFL yarn. About the sweater dress you were thinking of - what about silk held with some wool? I did make a tee with 50% merino and 50% silk yarn and the turtleneck grew to a crew neck so have to consider silk will grow and maybe grow worse with merino but it feels great!!. You did that all silk dress - any problems with growing after? Anyway you could do an I-cord for the neck finish or at base of neck finish for some stability. A pattern you might also like which I will knit with my drapey yarn (merino/silk/cashmere) is the Hakuji tee or sweater - I will make the sweater version but I will definitely finish with an I-cord around the neck.
Unfortunately the silk does grow quite a bit, especially with the dress being quite long and heavy so I think it would be tough with this amount of fabric. The Hakuji patterns are so pretty 😍 I've never come across either before so thank you for sharing those.
I have similar feelings about the Book Club Cardigan. Love the challenges with all the cabling, but the style reminds me of a grandpa sweater, which could look comical on my petite frame. I get it, which is why a month after adding most patterns to my favorites, I delete them. Your knitting is lovely and very professional looking. ❤️
I love that you are inspired by rtw - that’s how I plan my knits as well! Re the dress, you don’t want it to pill and stretch out too much. How about using Arwetta (sockyarn with nylon that comes in SO many colours) held with Sandnes’s Alpakka følgetråd or one of Isager’s lace alpaca yarns? The Arwetta will prevent the fabric from pilling too much and the alpaca will be light and soft. Or use a silk mohair to further strengthen the fabric - Isager’s is the softest and less sheddy, in my opinion. 😊
I was going to comment the same. Cashmere has a short staple length and pills more than others. Skirts and dresses that are knit would also benefit from a lining so they don’t get baggy. I would be worried about sitting on someone’s upholstery with mohair. They might not appreciate it!
You might like the West Village skirt. It is a “recipe”. I have made three, but one was too chunky. Since you like texture you might like the designer Skeindeer
Alpaca is super warm. I would think too warm for a dress, because if you get hot, you can’t really take it off like you can a sweater. But you said you live somewhere cold, so maybe that’s not a problem. I would use alpaca for a cardigan instead, though.
Thank you! I tend to find new patterns through a combo of Instagram and RUclips podcasts. I always follow the designers I like on Insta so I know when they have new patterns underway and then I save them there into different collections. You could also look for new patterns on Ravelry by searching "hot right now" filter but I don't find ravelry great to use in that way.
Regarding the request for Zipper Sweater experience, knitting and wearing great here. I made The Zipper Sweater Man Light, using KFO Merino held double and it was a pleasure to knit and is soft and durable to wear. I made it for my husband but my teenage daughter and I both live to wear it too. The pattern has a great mix of interesting construction with gaining a new skill (zipper installation) and TV knitting for the body and sleeves. Will make more. Son also interested. My modification was to reduce the size of the doubleknit collar to match exactly the countless Patagonia and Stio fleece 1/4 zips that are staples in my husband’s winter wardrobe. I’ll keep that mod for future projects.
Careful with drops yarn…. I bought the Sky and it is so strange, it seems to grab itself and I can see it might felt in the future with wear - also muted colours would work with your skin colour! Good luck - and by the way, I think your knitting skills are very very good! Picking out the colours online is always a challenge and I have been disappointed too. Georgia in BC
I completely agree on the Sky. I used it for my Una Top and I don't think I would ever work with it again. There are better chainette's out there. Drops does have a few nice options though so I try to swap them in when it is also a project I am not 100% sure on or know it's more of a short term garment
I am very curious on the process and result of turning the sweater into a dress. I am not a Drops fan but am very positive about the alpaca. Maybe combine it with Crea deluxe silk mohair. That is very comfortable and there is a lot of choice in colors. And I have a crave for a knitted matching set too. I am actually knitting a skirt to match my blouse no1 in A Knitters world undyed yarns (the fluffy combined with the alpaca silk cashmere). Very curious on what you'll knit up. ❤ from Haarlem
I think you might like the planar sweater by Rebecca clow. It has the texture that you say you like (it’s in 1/2 fisherman’s rib) and is also a 1/4 zip.
This one right? www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lanark-sweater I've also considered this one but then wasn't sure if it would look a tad too rustic for me
I find it perfectly fine to swap out mohair for fingering weight yarns as baby merino when i want to bring the total cost down :-) So if you want to hit a DK gauge then use one strand baby merino + one strand mohair or if you are asked to use 3 strands mohair then go for DK yarn + one strand mohair :-) i have also made a cardigan that asked for 3 strands of mohair and substituted two of the mohair strands with one strand brushed alpaca silk (drops) + one strand of mohair (kid silk) which brought down the cost a lot but provided a beautifully light and extremely soft, plushy fabric!!
I've been having the Book Club Cardigan on my needles for months now... and honestly, I'm not sure if I want to finish it. I thought the process would be super engaging, but it's taking forever I'm already getting sick of it and I'm only maybe 10 cm past the armholes :( Still gotta decide whether I'm going to frog it, or if it's going to be one of those eternity wips that I'm only going to be knitting on every now and then.
Thanks for sharing your experience. This is a bit what I am afraid of. Once the initial fun of it wears off I feel like it will also linger for me for a long time
I actually don’t think the book club cardigan is very chunky. I’m knitting mine in one strand of a heavy DK and hit gauge and the cardigan feels very light compared to my Billie pullover by her. My general philosophy with knitting is you can always make mods, for example knit a larger size with a lighter weight yarn if you want something more airy! Love all of your pattern plans ❤
I have heard the book club cardigan is hard to get the fit right, too tight or too large, for that reason i am out, doing a lot of isabel kraemer lately for the little finishes and like the mia sweater, weekend glow for those big ribs...
Your comment reminds me I have this pattern from Isabel saved www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kallias Obviously not textured like the book club but kind of a similar fit and vibe. Maybe I shift focus to something like that
Thanks for the episode. Did you notice that you said that you prefere more fitted sleeves than a drop shoulder construction. I think most of the patterns you went through here had a drop shoulder. I also think that the sweaters were really oversized, like the Braidy loop sweater. It also has a cable going on back over shoulders. I think that really emphasize the width of the shoulders., which is ok but for me I think it is not flattering because I have broad shoulders. The yarn that you have for it is really beautiful. And about yarns if you want a light weight garment and need dk weight, why not use those yarns like Gedifra Laura, Isager Baby soft, Drops Sky or Katia Cotton merino. Fluffy and light.
Follow your instincts, if you are questioning it this much now you won’t be happy. You love the cream sweater because of the pattern and the colour - get another yarn and do the lovely peacock blue in the next one with the purl rows ! The soft colours are for you like your mole colour sweater you are wearing - lovely colour. G from BC
In regards to the Port Jacket by Ozetta. I don't know if you have made a sweater by her or not, particularly a dropped shoulder. I have a word or caution. I had never made a sweater by this designer. I loved the Seaway pullover and decided to make it and I thought I had the perfect yarn for it (actually the same yarn the designer used). I have smallish shoulders and a full bust. I sized down a size that I thought I should make. My gauge was very close. I finished it (although I can tell you it was not a very enjoyable knit). It looks great, however, it is so wide in the shoulder that it absolutely looks dreadful. A smaller needle would have made it too dense. Because of the design it would be very difficult to remove a few stitches. I also knitted the sleeves the length the designer suggested in the pattern. Don't ask me why I didn't measure them before the twisted rib cuff. They are so long, it is really unwearable. I can shorted the sleeves although I am not looking forward to it. I have spritzed the sweater twice and carefully put it in the dryer to help with the overall width and drop of the shoulder and have had a little success. I will likely do that a few more times before shortening the sleeves. If this doesn't work, I will just frog the whole thing but I would not reknit. It would also make me very hesitant to make another one of her designs. I had already made two gorgeous accessories to wear with the sweater so maybe that would distract from the ill fit. Hard for me to understand how this was such a failure but sometimes things just don't work out. The jacket you propose would be easier to adjust in regards to the overall width but just measure carefully as you go.
Really appreciate the thorough comment on your experience. I have never knit an ozetta pattern before but I can see where you are coming from as I think it's usually the shoulder fit that looks off to me even though I like the overall pattern.
Using Alpacca for the Bruno wont give you the similar drape. Will need a silk component of yarn with merino. Fiori, Manos have a merino/silk yarn. And dont choose a superwash. The Book Club cardigan isn't very flattering. The cable skirt and matching sweater are an easier pattern and more stylish. Basket-weave separated by the vertical cable. The isager yarn would be nicer in the Agnete Petite Knit brioche which is a basic brioche than the Proppo jacket.
I love cables and find them addicting to knit ..that said I don’t knit them in Aran and worsted weight too heavy for me . If u scrounge on ravelry you can find a few cable sweaters in sport weight which I have patterns for .. they are usually older patterns . “One” cable Aran /worsted cable cardigan is good to have for bumming around the house on cold days popping in and out to garden for errands etc … I had one on my office chair at work for years I used in summer when the A/C was cranking . I just finished a port jacket( used zipper instead of buttons ) and now that it’s done I don’t think I will use it much … it is VERY VERY heavy . I would choose a cable Aran/worsted weight sweater over the jacket . May have to donate the jacket . Also the jacket ON ME has zero style … seriously looks like eh, .😕
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I also think a sport/dk cardigan would be my preference. Good feedback on the port jacket. Sorry it didn't work out for you 🥺
Check out the Mostly Knitting RUclips channel if you haven’t already, she has a great instructional video with all the math in turning a sweater into a dress.
the color of the top you are wearing in the video looks very nice on you with your hair color! Based on what I´ve seen from your fashion style, the Book Club Cardigan and Zipper Sweater don´t seem to fit very well. Both seem too rustic for your more refined, minimalist style. It would be a pity to invest in knitting it and then not wear it much!
That is my thinking too! At least for the book club. The zipper sweater I would see more as a throw on over leggings or going for a walk. Leaning more towards the port jacket though at the moment.

I love this kind of videos, they are so inspirational! Thank you also for distracting me from the boredom of second socks! :D
Happy to help!
I just love your style and have added some of the patterns to my favorites on ravelry especially the Moreco knits. Thanks for a great video!
Thanks Stephanie! And thank you again for the pattern 🩷
So happy to meet you and your fiber art inspiration!
What a lovely gentle spirit you share.

I think that dark colored cable sweaters are gorgeous. But my advice would be to do a little swatch with the cable motif using that yarn to see how you like it. I’m so excited to see what you make this season!
Good idea!
I made the book club cardigan the second it came out. I’m wearing it while watching you, and love it! I made it in DK plus mohair.
Great to hear you're so happy with it! Which colour did you make it in?
@@Goodknits_ i made it in grey/beige. It’s currently my favourite colour… and I think it suits the pattern.

Thanks Ursula ❤️
Alpaca will grow as you wear. I would maybe not choose. But that’s me
Love your picks, I'm adding quite a few to my list😊
This is great advice. I love the Arwetta yarn and that was originally what I was thinking as well but then was thinking I have already used the Filcolana + mohair combo before and wanted to branch out. But I like the idea of using it paired with a lace weight Alpaca instead of mohair. I bet that would be really nice combo.
Totally agree on Isagers mohair being the softest. My absolute favourite!
Gorgeous! Lane Loop tee on my needles at the moment, and Braidy Loop Sweater is up next! ❤
Oh that Lane Loop tee is so beautiful! I wanted to make the tank top verison this summer but ran out of time
Hi Sheri!
I really enjoy your podcast and your thoughtful insights on your knitting. Have you heard about the K2P2 festival being organized in Breda, NL this November by It Is A Sarah? It's probably not too far from Amsterdam.
Greetings from an American expat in Germany 😊
No I have not come across this festival so thank you for sharing! I'll look it up
Hey, thanks for the video. About the Zimmersweater: I knit mine last year in August and wore it like all the time (im form Germany) starting in September when we were on vacation on the North Sea up to like march/April this year. I loved It so much that I casted on a second one. I did the regular Zippersweater, not the light.
Thank you for sharing! Good to know it is getting a lot of wear as I think Germany would be a similar climate (minus the rain of course)
This seems to be a common piece of feedback! I will definitely be going with the light version. My yarn is on the way
Loved this episode! ❤ another cute project is the Alma Skirt by Veera Valimaki
Lovely pattern!
Ah we have so many of the same patterns selections! Looking forward to chatting about them next week. You have great taste 😜
Can't wait for our knitting catch up 🩷 let's try to cast something on together for a mini KAL
I've heard a few people now mention the meterage for BCC. Shame as I imagine it already takes a lot of yarn.
Maybe you would like the brioche bliss jacket by rust knitwear, she is a smaller but very talented Designer.
Thank you! You and another viewer literally said the same thing within minutes of each other 😂
I've set aside knitting for olive bottle green merino and mohair for the Braidy Loop Sweater.
I am going to get some mohair and swatch for the braidy loop in that gorgeous yarn and hopefully it works. Your bottle green version will be gorgeous and look so good with your skin tone.
Braidy Loop knit along sounds fun!!! I’m going to need a little more time before I commit to the Agnete but I’ll start thinking about wool options…
Thanks so much for watching Margaret, and to your friends who recommended me 🥰
Great suggestions for yarns and patterns. I'll check them out
Hi , I've same doubt for the Book club cardigan.
Never thought of that for summer but that's a good idea!

I've been wanting to make a lot of these patterns too, Chantal sweater is highest on my list!
It looks so pretty!
@leighhuggins5030 oh that’s so sweet! Thank you Leigh 🩷 that yarn will definitely get used
Hi Sheryl, I can really recommend using Isager Alpaca 1 as an alternative to mohair, used less than 3 balls on my Paul sweater together with merino.
Great to hear! I have felt it in person and it seemed so cozy so I am excited to work with it one day
I have knit the Mint Tulip skirt from Drops Design in Drops Karisma, and really enjoy wearing it.
Good to know! I think it would be really cozy on the windy rainy days here
on the bookclub cardigan , i started it but frogged it. it was my first cables attempt and im not a fan of knitting flat. but also - a lot of people have said that the yarn required is super off than what the pattern says so i would check ravelry for more on that
I've heard the same on the yarn quantity so hopefully she corrects that. Thanks for sharing your experience!
🫶 Thank you for the nice comment.
Seems quite a few of us are doubting the Book club cardigan for the same reasons.
Thanks for the advice! I think the idea of the arwetta + alpaca could be really good for that dress
You might like the West Village skirt. It is a “recipe”. I have made three, but one was too chunky. Since you like texture you might like the designer Skeindeer
Thank you for sharing! Both are new to me
Alpaca is super warm. I would think too warm for a dress, because if you get hot, you can’t really take it off like you can a sweater. But you said you live somewhere cold, so maybe that’s not a problem. I would use alpaca for a cardigan instead, though.
That's really helpful to know. Agree it is probably better than as a sweater or cardigan
Great video thanks. Where is the best place to see new seasons patterns? Xx
Thanks for sharing the experience! And good tip about the collar length. It's quite large in the pattern
I cant wait to see the ppoppo jacket knit up 😊
Same here! I just need to actually get to it now 😂
Careful with drops yarn….
I'm very curious how the process for the dress will go too 😂
Which skirt did you pick to match your blouse?
I think you might like the planar sweater by Rebecca clow. It has the texture that you say you like (it’s in 1/2 fisherman’s rib) and is also a 1/4 zip.
This one right? www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lanark-sweater
I've also considered this one but then wasn't sure if it would look a tad too rustic for me
I'm making the zipper sweater light as I watch this. Will update on how much I wear it!
I'll stay tuned!
I find it perfectly fine to swap out mohair for fingering weight yarns as baby merino when i want to bring the total cost down :-)
So if you want to hit a DK gauge then use one strand baby merino + one strand mohair or if you are asked to use 3 strands mohair then go for DK yarn + one strand mohair :-) i have also made a cardigan that asked for 3 strands of mohair and substituted two of the mohair strands with one strand brushed alpaca silk (drops) + one strand of mohair (kid silk) which brought down the cost a lot but provided a beautifully light and extremely soft, plushy fabric!!
Great suggestion - thanks for sharing!
Bruno sweater is amazing, I would include it in my plans if I wasnt loaded with wips. In a dress it will be quite cozy and nice as well 🤎
I hope it will turn out 🤗
Do you have a nice jacket with a shoulder line really on the shoulder?
Hmmmm I don't think so
I've been having the Book Club Cardigan on my needles for months now... and honestly, I'm not sure if I want to finish it.
Also I knit my Billie pullover in a dark brown wool and LOVE it. I think cables in darker yarns are really beautiful and timeless.
Excellent points! And thanks for sharing about your Billie and it still looking good in a darker colour
I have heard the book club cardigan is hard to get the fit right, too tight or too large, for that reason i am out, doing a lot of isabel kraemer lately for the little finishes and like the mia sweater, weekend glow for those big ribs...
Your comment reminds me I have this pattern from Isabel saved www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/kallias
Obviously not textured like the book club but kind of a similar fit and vibe.
Thanks for the yarn recommendations. Many of those are new to me so I'll look into them
Follow your instincts, if you are questioning it this much now you won’t be happy. You love the cream sweater because of the pattern and the colour - get another yarn and do the lovely peacock blue in the next one with the purl rows ! The soft colours are for you like your mole colour sweater you are wearing - lovely colour. G from BC
Voice of reason. I love it 🫶
swirl sweater would make a great dress
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.😊❤
I prefer the Lauder Cardigan by Rebecca Clow.
Sorry it didn't work out for you 🥺
book club makes the waistline look so bulky

Check out the Mostly Knitting RUclips channel if you haven’t already, she has a great instructional video with all the math in turning a sweater into a dress.
Thank you!

One of my problems I have with knitting videos - introductions way too long I give up before video even begins
I always include chapters so people can skip ahead if they don't like the chatty bits
Too dark 😅 the pattern might not show in the dark color.
For Braidy loop right?
the color of the top you are wearing in the video looks very nice on you with your hair color!
Leaning more towards the port jacket though at the moment.
traders? Never heard of it. Don’t have a tv so I don’t feel the pressure to wear what is on tv, junk for the brain
To each their own.
