- On a sunny July 31 we follow Midcoast Railservice train RB-2 between Thomaston, Maine and Brunswick, Maine with FGLK 2308 for power and nine cement loads. They would meet L077 with MEC 316 in Brunswick (not seen on video) but we see the return trip heading east through Warren later that evening with fourteen empties.
A few days later on August 3, FGLK 2308 - FGLK 2310 takes a big train of 22x1 down the Rockland Branch, seen passing the old MEC station in Bath, New Meadows Rd. in West Bath and Jordan Ave. in Brunswick. L077-03 is seen arriving Brunswick, passing through Church Rd. a little bit later with twelve empties. Later that afternoon we see L077-03 with MEC 316 - MEC 5933 and the same consist passing through Royal Junction in Cumberland, Maine.
The final scene is on August 10, with L077-10 using CSXT 2548 arrives at Brunswick, seen passing through Church Rd. running long hood forward with nine empty hoppers and a loaded refrigerator car.
In late August Dragon's owner; Giant Cement announced some bad news that they will be slowly closing their Thomaston plant by early 2025, with operations decreasing by the end of this year. The cement plant is by far the Rockland Branch's biggest customer, so the future of the line will be uncertain east of Bath.
Great video!🙂🙂
Great great video of The temporary increased Rail traffic brought by Mid coast Rail Service. Sad it might be ending almost as fast as it had started, with Closure of the Dragon Cement!!!
Finger Lakes has worked some good magic on this line it seems, hopefully they can work some more. Huge loss for everyone with Dragon though
Closing Dragon is going to hurt a lot more than just the railroad.
10:21 oooo YN2
Not good. Hopefully this is just a play to get the gas line they were pushing for restarted.
