Gosh, Ive watched so many folks on 'The Shroud of Turin'. Barrie Schurtz from the original team that examined it, Fr Spitzer...and of course Fr. Andrew on many channels I follow among many others over the years. It never fails to amaze! The museum in Turin is so worth a visit too!
I think the weirdest & most prudential & providential thing about the shroud is that it is a perfect photo negative & we only saw this fact hundreds of years after we knew its exact location which was hundreds of years before photography was invented! This alone is mind 🤯 blowing.
So many other corroborating evidence just expound on how utterly unique this gift to Christians 2K years later is.
He is Risen! The burial cloths St John & St Peter saw were there & found the way to us through time & providence as a tangible sign. ❤
Fascinating & amazing! Thanks Michael & Fr Andrew.

Fr. Andrew is absolutely brilliant and so eloquent. He had a debate a while back with a theologian, Mark Goodacre, who was skeptical of jthe Shroud's authenticity at Duke U. I've rarely seen such a one-sided debate. Fr. Andrew demolished him. I later saw Goodacre in a Shroud film and he seemed much more open to the Shroud being authentic. That's how convincing Fr. Andrew is.

Always appreciate Andrew's Shroud presentations, I'm curious Michael, given my show presentation on the Shroud and now Andrew's are you a believer on your end or are you still a little skeptical? One thing, I would like to answer Michael's objection is about what if the Romans killed one or more of Jesus' followers in the same way as Jesus to mock him. Now, in the first place I don't think this is historically or theologically likely at all, but for argument's sake, even if this did happen and the Shroud belonged to one of Jesus' followers who were mock killed to reflect Jesus' treatment, this still does the following; i) Attests to Jesus treatment as disclosed in the Gospels and ii) Provided the scientific evidence related to the physical and chemical properties of the Shroud images merits belief in their miraculous formation, then this would still represent divine attestation from God that Jesus had been scourged and crucified for our sins and imply Ressurection via the body leaving the cloth in a miraculous way (both essential Gospel beliefs of Christianity). So, arguably, either way, this would still be a miracle regardless and thus provide attestation to the truth of core Christian beliefs.

At the moment of conception, when the sperm makes contact with the egg, an emission of light is observed. This is a result of zinc being released by the egg due to the chemical reaction between egg and sperm.
Similarly at the moment of Christ's resurrection, when life is brought into the body, perhaps an emission of zinc (or something similar) is produced. This release of zinc could perhaps emit enough photoradiation to create an image on the shroud.

At the moment of conception, when the sperm is fused with the egg, a burst of light is emitted. This light (or fluorescence) is the result of zinc being released by the egg as the sperm makes contact. Similarly, could it be that at the moment of Christ's resurrection (i.e. life being infused into a body), an emission of zinc was produced thus resulting in the image produce on the shroud?

In their 1989 reporting on the Shroud, the labs claimed "acceptable deviation" (5%). Once the "raw data" was released in 2017, their errors and data manipulation were revealed. After analyzing the 700+ pages from the labs Prof Emmanuela Marinelli, Tristan Casabianca, and a host of statisticians found that the actual chi-square value from the data was 1.04% - NOT 5%. This is significant deviation. Objectively speaking, the carbon dating test of 1988 was invalid. It happens about 20% of the time because of contamination variables. It is no longer an issue in the scientific community.
