I would like to tell a litlle about the recording session, I played tenor saxophone on this record, Derrick Walker played tenor and harmonica and Hart Mcnee played Baritone Sax. Henry Öden- bass, Tommy Rizzo -drums, Jonathan Cramer- Piano. We recorded most of this in one day, with Michael doing solo overdubs later. Nich Gravinites was in the control booth along with the producer, Norman Dayron. It was a pleasure to work with Michael Bloomfield, he was a genius and a nice guy. All the horn lines were made up on the spot.
Just amazing and fantastic to hear your comments on Mike Bloomfield's last album!,.. Thanks for sharing!,.. Truly still a great loss on so many levels!!,...
amazing. he was of legend in his own life time. long time follower. did he ever play with Dylan? Oh how could I have ever said such a dumb thing? I was wondering about "New Morning" I had never heard Highway 51 Revisited !
@@factorylad5071 when Dylan went electric it was at the Newport festival with Paul Butterfield Blues Band featuring Mike on guitar, who went on to play on Highway 61 Revisited .
This is his last solo album. Takoma label; March;1981. I read somewhere that Jonathan Cramer, the Piano player on Snowblind died one month after the recording was done. This is a Great album ! I hope you like it. Peace _/)..
Side A 1 - Cruisin' for a Bruisin' 0:00 2 - Linda Lu 3:50 3 - Papa-Mama-Rompah-Stompah 6:00 4 - Junker's Blues 9:30 5 - Midnight 12:05 Side B 1 - It'll Be Me 15:52 2 - Motorized Blues 18:54 3 - Mathilda 23:07 4 - Winter Moon 25:37 5 - Snowblind 30:10
Dear Brendon. I don't have the lyrics as well. It is really hard to understand what he's saying. It seems to me, Michael was high as a giraff ; Cruisin' for a Bruisin' seems impossible for me. Considering that I am Brazilian and my English is lousy. But even my friends from Chicago, they can't dig it!!!
I'm The World's Biggest Bloomfield Fan, That said, it's clear that Mike was a shadow of what he used to be. His playing is sloppy and unimaginative. If you want Mike at his very best, listen to East West.
In fact, the CD release by Takoma CDP 72791; Manufacured by Allegiance Records was burned at wrong speed. I don't know how it is possible. I have the LP and I know how it sounds. The other Takoma release of this album; CDTAK 7070, has this super-groovy album in correct pitch _/)..

29:40 One of the greatest licks of all time. Breaks my hearts every time, he poured his soul and personality into this song.
This is my favorite Bloomfield album.
Spotify didn't have it.
fabulous music
Brilliant. Amazing
It’s interesting hearing in his interview about his admiration for Randy Newman and you definitely hear his influence on his music in the 70’s

We lost Mike too soon, as a result of his "hobbies"
For those of you that do not know the "Super Session" project, check that out as well.

If so, even the shadow is great!
would much rather this be a straight instrumental with no attempt at singing.
This is recorded at the wrong speed
this is the good version, I have the speedy version on CD
