I have sold Obagi for almost 12 years for the physician I work for…you are so correct in your Obagi assessment. One clarification is the FX came about when certain states no longer would allow physicians to see the hydroquinone out of their offices. You’re obviously in a state which still allows it. You can find some medspas that will sell it and ship across state lines. In TX we can now only get the FX version which uses Arbutin instead of hydroquinone. It will work, it just takes longer to get the same results. The difference in your exfoderms is the forte is for normal to oily skin…that’s why it’s more “strong/harsh” on those with sensitive/dry skin. I just love the clear. Retin A is great, the Obagi is just a name brand of Retin A like the difference in Mrs Baird bread versus great value. Same basic white bread. Genetics work for some…others prefer name brand. Their cleanser you only need a size of a chocolate chip. If used correctly a bottle will last me 13 months using it two times a day making it way less expensive than even drug store. I love their vitamin C. It’s the best I’ve used because it seems to stay stable longer than other brands if stored in a dark cool cabinet. I don’t let mine sit out on my counter exposed to light and the heat of the shower. Feel free to message me any questions for specific issues and I’m happy to give supporting information from Obagi education. Their educators meet with us quarterly plus pop in the office at random and are always having us continue our education.

I have a couple questions for you please … do you have to take breaks from the system ? And will you eventually stop peeling? I’ve used in the past but felt like I never looked good or got to that point, I was always red and peeling. So I could never power through to see the benefits .

Melissa I just turned 55 and I’m talking notes because whatever you’re doing is working. You’re the most gorgeous almost 68 year old I’ve ever seen. I can only hope I age that well in the next 10 plus years. I don’t do fillers or botox either so that’s why you are someone I truly look up to regarding good skin as we age. Also I wanted to add that I find what makes you even more beautiful is that you are natural and look like you. So many are starting to look alike with too many surgeries and things, it’s just not appealing looking to me. But too each their own, no judgement, just not what I care for. Thanks Melissa for sharing! All the best!💜

I want to chime in because of my experience. I’ve dabbled with Retin-A for years but came back to it after watching your videos. I had recently lost about 40 lbs and was concerned about the negative effect on my skin. This time, I used it in conjunction with 4 other products you use. The Shiseido cleanser, the Skinceuticals C, the Exfoderm in the morning and then the cleanser, and Rein-A-with the Blender at night. I then got the Obagi Luxe moisturizer to help with some of the dryness and use as needed. My skin has never looked better in the last 35 years! I recommend to anyone that asks to try it. I’m in love with finally finding a regime that is minimal and also extremely effective. I can’t thank you enough for your advice!

Hi Melissa, I've used the Obagi NuDerm a few times qute a few years ago, and it absolutely transformed my skin. Initially, my skin reacted quite harshly to it, but I stuck with it, and after the 3 month (I think that was the time period), my skin began to look wonderful. Now, I continued with the Retin A all of these years, but am not now using the complete system. Sometimes I'm tempted to go through the Obagi cycle again. My skin still really look good. Instead of the Exfoderm, I do use an AHA twice a week.
You are correct, way back when Dr. Obagi did not feel that moisturizer was necessary. Once skin is healthy (after the nuderm system), it will be hydrated. In later years, Obagi came out with a moisturizer which I couldn't quite understand.
Anyway, Melissa, I totally agree with you that the Obagi system is wonderful skin care.

Thank you so much for explaining your skincare. I have heard about Obagi for years but never took the plunge! I may talk with my dermatologist about it on Wed. I have an appt for a check up after having a mole removed. Great timing!! Your skin has always looked so good to me. I do take my skincare seriously as my mother did so I am ready to up it if I need to! I am a couple of years older than you, you and my sister are the same age. Lol. Thank you and take care.

Great video Melissa !! I think I have used obagi around 45years give or take. On and off mostly on!! Last Sunday one week ago I got a phone call that my nephew had died. He was 23 years old. I have such high anxiety, panic attacks, all the crazy things. It hurt my heart to see the pain my brother was in. Anyway ,my face started itching little tiny bumps started on my neck then up my face then redness. I went to the Dr. I had eczema. He said because my nerves were on edge it caused me to break out. It was awful got some ointment haven’t used my normal for a week. Hopefully soon !! I really appreciate your video on this. You absolutely don’t look your age and your skin glows from youthful beauty. I hope you have a great week❤️omg, I started using obagi around age 45!!

If I remember correctly about a week into it? But it’s been so long it’s hard to remember. I remember my doctor said to just put a little nivea on the peeling and dry skin. If it got really itchy, I would put a little cortisone cream on it, like you would use for mosquito bites. But it’s not pretty, Colleen. Not going to lie. It’s like a snake shedding your skin. One woman I saw lately told me that way back when I started using it she wondered what was wrong with my skin cause it peeled so much. Lol. It’s a process and a commitment and not for everyone for sure!!! Take care! Oh also, I would put a little Vaseline on the bad areas to calm it down too. Also if certain areas were really irritated, I would sort of skip that area and put it everywhere else. Many thanks!

@@Melissa55 I was just wondering what you do bc you said you don’t you use moisturizer. There’s this dr that I keep seeing pop up on ads that says moisturizers age you, maybe she has a point. Hydroquinone is not suppose to be used long term without taking a break. You might want to look into the medical side effects of it in case it effects your crohns. Hydroquinone doesn’t make your skin better, it’s used for hyperpigmentation and if you don’t have an issue with hyperpigmentation, why would you use it?

I have always used it on my neck as well as my face. But my neck has these deep lines on it. They are getting deeper and deeper as I age. For a while I would use a neck cream but it made it so much worse. I really feel not using moisturizer on my neck has helped a lot. But yes my face has sagged over the years, no getting around it. It’s getting that squared off look that we get as we age. And nothing wrong with a face lift at all!!! That is wonderful. It medically cannot ever be an option for me because of how ill I have been with the Crohn’s Disease and how many surgeries I have had to have to remove parts of my intestines. I just cannot risk it. But I firmly believe a woman should do whatever makes her feel better about herself. That matters in our mental health as we age I think. So that is wonderful. I hope you take care. So i changed my skincare. And Biologique recherche did helped my skin to become more robust. So at 52 now, three months ago, i started using tretinoin on lowest dose, and i was surprised how skin can quickly adjust. Now i am on 0.035, and going to increase again. I wish i started earlier. I think i underestimated my skin, being so sensitive, because if i used only a few raw vegan skin products, my skin always was flawless. No irritations, nothing, so as soon as my skin became fussy, well i didnt wanted to do nothing drastic. But now i realised that its ok to shook little bit . It will adjust .
