So here's the deal. My band director chose this piece out for our wind ensemble band today. He's had this piece for a long time. But the thing he hasn't had is a good French horn section. Luckily, I get to try, my sophomore year, to play this amazing piece. If my director is gonna believe in the French horn section this year then I will not let him down. As a French horn player, I think this is possibly the most powerful horn piece, and I am so honored to play it.
I'm going to pretend there aren't a bunch of comments of insecure high school and middle school kids trying to validate their respective bands via comments on youtube and just say, this piece is awesome.
I have so much respect for the players that are playing this peice I love that this peice is so bright yet the bottom voices are still always heard and don't get me started on the amazingly clean soloist
As a horn player, I ADORE this song. My high school symphonic band is playing this and it's by far one of my all time favorite pieces to play. Challenging: yes, but listening to the end result is totally worth it. :D
We have this exact rendition of Silverado in the Republic Community band in Mo. We are beginning rehearsal now for it... This really helps me hear the correct way to play this & the timing... I'm a French hornist & it is a nice challenge for us...Thanks for up loading this... I can actually play this :D
We are playing this for our end of year concert in two months and I am so freaking excited like I don't even care what other songs we play. To play this song in high school makes me so happy :D
Great, our schools wind ensemble was gonna play this until we realized that a really important part of the song are the rips from the horns, then we realized that we have 1 horn in out band, and he can play for his life lol, so we transposed it for trumpet
we are the number one middle school in the state. Just because your probably used to hearing middle schools band suck doesn't mean that you've heard them all.
Bein a trumpet player there are some great parts in there and i dont often give credit unless i am overwhelmed but this song makes me want to pick up a french horn and play this. whoever the french horns were that performed this song ill give em credit cuz that aint a easy part and yet they played it beautifully. Outstanding job by the horns and also very nice solo in the oboe.
At the last part of the song, because alto sax parts were too hard, I played solo there because other alto didn't play. I got out of breath every 5 measures. It was toooooo hard but good song.
Yeah and I just played this in college. Bet the tone quality/ intonation / articulation / accuracy is radically different. lol I don't know your band, and they may be good.. but there's just some things that take years and years to develop, and even people in college are still developing skills. There's a whole world of things you don't know as a middle school child. Stop being Cocky now, and it'll save you the embarrassment of getting your ass handed to you later. lol
Hah, what state? My point here was that you guys need to stop bragging. You already know that you're the top middle school band in the state (if you say so) and so just sit there and shut up, don't act like you're better than everyone. Again, what a PA.
The clarinet that comes in early on their background part during the oboe solo makes me cringe every time. However, it is still a very colorful interpretation.
You may be #1 in your state, but you're in MIDDLE school. and besides there are 49 other states that have top middle school bands, and chances are a lot of them are better than yours. I would venture to guess a lot of bands who are not #1 in their state are still better than yours. That's just how it goes. Then you have high school bands and then college bands and then symphony orchestras and such.. all of which are on completely different levels. lose the cockiness. ;]

Our band played this a few years ago, and though is was really hard, it was beautiful!

いい曲なんだけど、いかんせん難しいですねっ。これをカッコ良く吹けるように頑張りたいねっ。
After 2 years of owning this piece, my band is finally playing it for the Spring Concert. I'm playing timpani.

スローもええなあ
HORNS! \m/
Enjoyed performing this with Wheaton Municipal Band.
@micklaprise81 Sedona was written in 2000. Silverado was written in 1985.
And yes that part that you all her around :45 is a BIG slur, well...more like a rip. So it's not easy. Thi band does it perfectly
@micklaprise81 Haha. The melodic line actually identical to Sedona.
I understand how hard this peice really is, I am currently practicing it in my band. I'm only one out of two trombonist. KMS.
Crybaby Zeref dude im the trombone one in my band so im currently playing the solo lol
Crybaby Zeref in something called Sedona its very similar but there is a trombone solo...
Do it. You'll never go back ;)
Some parts of this song sounds like Sedona by Steven Reinekes...
Anyone know the name of the ensemble that played this?
them horns rippin to their Ab :O
Andrew Berry It's actually a rip from high e flat to high b flat. :)
JTROCKS030300 oh you're right sorry :o
This is my school song. What now bitchessssssssss
Lol
1 person wishes he could play french horn
At the last part of the song, because alto sax parts were too hard, I played solo there because other alto didn't play. I got out of breath every 5 measures. It was toooooo hard but good song.
good stuff... the alto sax parts are pretty much unplayable for most of this piece lol
Gotta play this on first horn with my community band, so kudos for uploading. Who is this a recording of?
@fakemovietrailer same here but I'm a tuba player :(
How can I get the musical scores?
All scores can be purchased from their respective publishers.
Marimba part for this is ROUGH
you played this as a sophmore? my 7th and 8th grade band are playing this.
10 years later: *looks around* “See? No one cares.”

This is like 20 beats too slow : /
