    Steffi had the aura when she was playing like nobody has. Even if she always against publicity, she was the most favorite sports lady for majorities, not only in Germany, she has had millions of fans in India, China, other Asia, Europe and even in the US countries . She is still in the hearts of her zillions of fans.

      Disagree ... Seles was not terrible on grass, she reach Wimbledon final just before her stabbing and beat Martia Navratilova, the greatest Wimbledon champ, on her way to the final. The shadow of other great players in the era sometimes creates the illusion of ASV being not so popular but that is not true. As time goes by, ASV is still recalled and appreciated by a lot esp. when it comes to great finals. Her variety of retrieving is more than pushers today could imagine.

      samuel moore it’s not her fault that she was always the better player, always ranked #1, and a level higher above everyone else. I love how people always say that she didn’t have any competition. She was so good that she made it look like all her opponents weren’t any competition to her.

    I remember this, it was "INTENSE" !! I felt bad for ASV afterwards, who knew it was her best chance to get hold of that trophy plate. But again, it wasn't a disappointment for playing her style actually makes it in two final!!

    • @sheezamann2724

      IKR.....sanchez vicario...was really the only competition for graf until seles came along..if i remember correctly

    • @peterzhou9267
      @peterzhou9267 5 лет назад

      @@sheezamann2724 Before Seles the real competition was Navratilova. Sanchez was a challenge for Graf intensively between 92-96, but her play hurt Graf a lot on the great stage all the time. I wouldn't count Sabatini as her wins did not have grandeur significances as those of Navratilova, Seles and Sanchez.

    I really wish Arantxa had won the game after such an effort. At the same time both played incredibly and Steffi played well to win. After this match the UK audience sort of became Arantxa's home crowd till the end of her career, fantastic!

    • @FloridaIndependent
      @FloridaIndependent 6 лет назад +4

      Well said! Everyone was against Graf especially the media. Anyone who stood up against Graf would be crowd favorite. Graf took the unfair situation silently. She worked herself to so many Grand Slam titles ... before the England crowd gave her the respect she truly deserved. The Hingis idiocy proved that. In the end, Graf became the greatest female tennis legend, even Serena could never surpass.

    • @peterzhou9267
      @peterzhou9267 6 лет назад +1

      FloridaIndependent lol that was not my intention. Actually I was trying to say how well Arantxa was up to the test and fought till the end to win the crowds with would support her till the end. I was saying this because there was a time when Spanish players were hated and dismissed after Seles' comeback. The same applied to Graf but she handled it well by her winning. Arantxa, meanwhile, had to wait until 1998 FO to prove herself and regain her popularity (Martinez did not; she was not strong enough). In the end both Arantxa and Steffi endured criticism but overcame as champions.

    Grafs footwork is like a gazelle or like a reindeer. Her legs are strong and she just moves so quickly and smoothly in the tennis court. Grafs footwork allows her to run around her forehand and set up an inside out shot which is very deep and dangerous.
