This is by far the best electrical guitar arrangement of this on RUclips. He actually plays it in the style of Paganini and he doesn’t really change much from the violin score. Everyone else adds a backing track to it, which completely takes it out of the style that Paganini probably wanted.
Best version I've heard so far. So close to how it sounds on violin. Everyone else turns it into a power metal version. This actually sounds like the real thing!
XD. Go listen to this version rather and after we talk about it please... => ruclips.net/video/UFjdDP7bC24/видео.html Real pure virtuosity there... You are very talented, no problem for that 😊 but you sound so crappy and not harmonious in this video.
J C that’s classical guitar... this is electric guitar, similar... but actually really different instruments, he has the best ELECTRIC guitar performance of this piece on RUclips imo
I'm classically trained, played the cello for many years, I don't even listen to Rock music, but I find this version amazingly good. I've met and played with many violinists, and not many would be able to play this so well. All these people making negative comments are just being assholes. BTW, If you haven't seen Milos Forman's Amadeus yet, you should really get hold of a copy and watch it right away. It's legendary.
I'm just curious, what else do you like? I like classical too and rock and jazz and a lot of other stuff and to me it's like there's too much. Too much music and too little time to appreciate it all. But even if we're just talking classical, that's a huge range of diverse genres. So just out of curiosity, what kind of music do you dig? What does a classically trained cellist listen to? And if you like this, I'd suggest a guitarist called Yngwie Malmsteen. You've probably heard of him. He's pretty popular. He's kind of over the top and not big on subtlety but he does like to fuse rock and classical.
@@PaulTheSkeptic do not argue with this idiot, he is a typical of such people, who thinks, that only classic music is serious music, and the rest is light music.
Best one on RUclips, you are the only one I found that actually plays the whole thing without trying to turn it into a metal arrangement (usually easier haha)
Came here after searching for Bach on the guitar. Just wanted to say, your lateral movement is FREAKING LEGENDARY!!!! ::we're not worthy!::::we're not worthy!::::we're not worthy!::
+Will L Hey Will, thanks for your comment! If you haven't seen it already, there is also a video of Bach's Cello Suite No.1 Prelude uploaded on this channel.
+Classicals Rocked +Also, Now that I think of it, You're doing this on an instrument that has: a fretboard 2x+ as long, 2x as wide, and tuned the wrong-way-round from the violin, & with a per-unit note generator in the right-hand pick, instead of a +/- set-and-forget bow that you leave on the strings & just wiggle & tilt. (so that note-generator-accuracy has to be what, ~4x more accurate, in the perpendicular than a bow?) -The mind freaking boggles at how you can do this!
+Will L The main part that I think becomes more difficult on guitar compared to violin is the length of the fretboard as the hand movements become alot wider in these directions. As you already pointed out. But honestly I just tried to play it and practiced until I was happy with how it sounded... Maybe you should also take into account, that on the violin the left hand has to be placed very accurately as there are infinitely many possible positions compared to the guitar with just finitely many due to the frets.
+Will L Way harder on the violin IMO. Smaller neck does not equal easier, in fact, it can prove harder. Then take the frets away and consider the space you're working with to hit the right notes. And bowing is a hell of a lot harder than just wiggle and tilt.
I was listening to the original and found myself replacing the violing with EG and thinking "this would be awesome" then look for it and found it already done. Absolutely brilliant, thank you.
+takemeintothethick And thank you for your comment! I can send you the tab if you want, simply write me a private message on youtube containing your email address and I will send it to you!
Classicals Rocked That's very kind of you. Unfortunately that would be useless since I'm not even close to a level of skill allowing me to play, let alone interpret this masterpiece. I subscribed to the channel and will look forward to your next rendition. Thanks again for having played something that I was only able to play in my mind.
I came looking looking for a video in which someone played 24 caprices on guitar, Hoping to god i wasn’t going to just get a bunch of super shreddy nonsense that ha smithing to do with the actual piece. I am very pleased by the video I have found here
Very inventive reading of classics! Fine! Of course, professional classical musicians can criticize it, but for beginners there are many things which they can learn.
Very cool dude. I’m learning this right now. All of the other guitar covers are cheesy metal 4/4 renditions. This is what I was looking for. I’m going to pick more of the notes and play it a little faster. Your dynamics were great though. 10/10 performance!!
You didn’t do the left hand pizzicato in the 9th variation. Palm muting has a similar sound but there’s gotta be a way to replicate the original idea for this passage.
I had a feeling this song could be transferred to guitar with a lot of sweep picking. Can we all agree that Will Swan is the Paganini of this time, I feel Dance GavinDance's style resembles this in a way, especially hearing caprice 24 on electric
To a certain extend yes the 24 frets are very helpful to play certain things. Though the number one reason was that it has the built in sustainer and I could get it for not too much more than the sustainer costs on its own... I think it's a good guitar but not nearly as comfortable for me to play as the black strat, but that's subjective, maybe it would be the opposite for you... Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I guess I've been practicing it for about a year at the time I recorded it - not including the other maybe 16 years or so I have been playing the guitar before. I saw that you have videos of you playing on your channel too - have to check them out soon :)
Thanks! Yes, I'd love to send it to you, I just can't send you a private message on youtube, there's some setting one has to make.. your expressivity is very good, a good versión, but did you change the structure of the piece? Or what is that sounds different? paganini version of variation?
+deivi steve Thanks! I didn't change the structure, it's the same as the original. The only thing that's different (literally) is that it's played on an electric guitar (and therefore some parts had to be played an octave down compared to the original notation)
+deivi steve I didn't change the structure at all. The only thing that's different is the pitch in some parts, as it is not possible to play them in the original pitch so these parts were played one octave lower.
+Classicals Rocked Yes, I realized you play some parts in other octave, also I used to hear it with another technical because of that I hear it different the first time I think, anyway it sounds great that way, great job and interpretation
It's really good, don't get me wrong, but the tone of the guitar doesn't sound very fitting to this kind of arrangement. Sometimes it feels like there's too much gain and too little reverb. That's what I feel at least
Thanks for your comment, I guess that's a matter of taste... Maybe next time I should record a DI track and upload it with a video player that allows to add distortion and reverb ;)
Classicals Rocked Thanks. I loved that you played it without any drum accompany. And I liked that you played it straight without adding any modern 'flare'. Keep it up.
