I came here to talk about 4 being released but it looks like you have the Beta running in this video. I am looking forward to using 4, but I am going to wait for a while until the inevitable bugs are driven out. I like 3, but four does look amazing.
Thank you for the video and the time before it. Multiple voices are useful but when you want to re-use a melody that's not voice 1, default blue rests are settled to appear ALWAYS. How do you transform or force a blue'nt melody to be blue or make any other voice to be voice 1 and get rid of those annoying rests? Musescode 4.2.0
Excellent video! I was wondering why there are still whole rests remaining between the treble clef and bass clef even when all four voices are fully notated with the correct amount of notes and rests. Is there a way to remove the whole rests between staves as seen at 12:29 of your video? Thanks!
Great question. It depends on which voice is showing the rests. But I think there is a way to individually make those rests "invisible". I will try to make a video of the process soon! Thanks for the question.
Thanks for these tips. I am new to Musescore. How do you insert an additional stave for additional voice, say halfway down the score, and not have it on the entire score?
Yeah, I can't figure this out. When I do this, it constantly adds the new voice in *addition* to the existing notes, pushing them to the right. For the life of me I just want to add two harmonized notes together. Pulling my hair out.
Okay. So what if I want to say.. Copy a piano part (with grand staff using both treble and bass clef) and paste the whole part into another instrument that only uses 1 staff. Yes I understand that like every other instrument doesn't have the octave range but I'm not worried about that right now
Nevermind I litterally just sat and tried about everything and if you take the bass voice and make it a voice 2 (in my case there was a pedal tone with some chords so I made the pedal tone voice 3 and the chords voice 2 leaving an open voice 1) and then paste the voice 2 part in what ever new instrement you want then copy the voice 1 part and paste it over the open voice 1 that's in the new space. You have to go through and select a few things though but that wasnt that hard to figure out.
Thanks for the tips! Is it possible to initially notate the 4 voices (SATB) on separate staves but then generate a reduced version with 2 voices (S/A, T/B) on 2 staves to save space? I tried using the parts feature but it was unsuccessful. Thx
I play trombone and want to transpose treble to bass. Im sble to change the cleff sign and i lower it an octave, but outside the staff stilll says voice. I know how to add Trombone bass cleff then open or close eyelid symbol but i want to just eliminate or change the voice to say trombone.
Great question! Right click in the first measure of voice part, then select "Staff/Part Properties". In the next window under part properties select "Replace Instrument". Choose Brass>trombone. Then click ok to exit the Staff/Part Properties window. Now it should be labeled trombone. Hope this helps!
Great video. Very clear. My question relates to singing in a choir, practicing for choral singing that is. Can each voice be *played back separately* using MuseScore's playback functionality? I want to playback and *just hear the bass notes* (aka Voice 2 in the bass staff.)
I don't think so. In that case you'd probably want to put each voice into a separate staff entirely. Then (if you're using MuseScore 4) you can just click the first measure (not note! MEASURE) of the bass voice and start playback with the spacebar. It should play only the bass voice if you've done it correctly.
I'm sorry, but it still randomly steals characteristics from voice 1 or 2 and throws that onto the other instead. Musescore tries to do 85 million different things as well as it can, but even the simplest task, like writing 8th notes over a whole note in the same staff, seems just too hard for it to fathom. Why can't voice 2 just be entirely its own phrase and not be jumping back in and out of bed with voice 1 ??!? Even IF it happens to work correctly sometimes, there are all of these useless extra rests floating in the way. One should at least have the option to click on them and make them invisible in print, n'est-ce pas? What about a totally separate tab where it's only about getting notes on a sheet? Let the user decide how many beats there have to be in a measure - perhaps, sometimes, they might even get it right and make it as they would if by hand. I think many would appreciate this ability to take the wheel. In the first version, this could just be a permanent departure from all of the other powers of Musescore with no pathway back. Then, later down the road, maybe there could even be a way to try and see if the main program is able to swallow it back in and understand the music. In that case, it should NOT automatically (and very annoyingly) change things arbitrarily, but rather just highlight whatever seems in question. Surely, needing to fix one tiny mistake in a given measure doesn't mean that the composer expects or wants the AUI (artificially Unintelligent) software to completely scramble the following measure. Just sayin' . . .
This is just what I needed. I had a tenor part on eighth notes and baritone on quarter notes and didn't know how to separate them. Many thanks.
THANK YOUUUUUU! finally a video that helped me to solve this overcomplicating problem.
Great. Thank You. How to back to one voice?
If you don't need an intro, the help you need to do voicing comes at 5:00 minutes in the video
Can you show what to do if two different voices share the SAME note with sharp or flat?
This so helpful! Thank you!

This is what i searched for!
that was very helpful, thank you:)

Thank you very much!
Thank. It answered my question.

How do i insert a separate stave for choir, in addition to the piano/ accompaniment part, but also running parallel to it.

Very good question! I will look into it and see if there's a way to do that.
Thanks so
Much
Yes, i have an obvious question...
How to select a specific voice ?
Thank you in advance.
So are all "voices" on the same instrument at the same time?
Great question. Yes, all the voices will play at the same time on the same instrument.

Can you do a musical crash corse on Wagner’s a Siegfried idyll?

Ñ!
I don't like rests 🤢
Quiet!
You can delete some excess rests that aren't necessary.
what the hell
@@hrlego6450 how
@@MylaLovesYou Maybe it wasn't possible when this video was made, but in 4.3 once you've finished the entry you just click on each rest and delete
I hate musescore
But I need sheets
So here we go again
Not a good explanation. Most people know why you need different voices - if you're a pianist or a guitarist for example. I wanted to know HOW! Simply.
