I will always say that Teodora was robbed of the 1976 Olympic AA bronze, and a chance to make the FX final at those Games. I remember Nadia saying in the "Nadia, From Romania With Love" CBS special that, in her opinion, Teodora should've won the Olympic gold on FX in Montreal. At minimum, Teodora deserved the silver on the event, behind Nelli Kim's technically more difficult routine in which she included a then innovative (for WAG) a double back somersault. Ungureanu was criminally low-balled at those Games. I'm happy that she at least went home with the team silver, UB silver, and the bronze on beam. 🥈🥈🥉
I love love love her! I just don't get why, she was always over shadowed by Nadia. For me Teodora was the better gymnast and had so many unique moves in her routines. Life really can be unfair!
Si hubiera sido igual de agraciada físicamente como Nadia, hubiera ganado ella todo lo habido y por haber. Que injusticia tan grande se cometió con ella❤
Teodora was very pretty, I'm not sure what you mean about physically attractive. Imo, the judges were determined to put Ludmila Tourischeva ahead of her in the AA, at least the vault and floor judges who lowballed her.
Teodora never got the respect or recognition she deserved. I do think she was overshadowed by Nadia. One thing I will point out is that her form is not as *pristine* as Nadia’s, but this is not very visible in her beam rohtines. Both were very talented and powerful gymnasts in their own right.
She was lowballed in Team Compulsory Optional floor so she didn't make Floor Finals. She was robbed of an AA medal for the same reason, scandalously lowballed again floor, as well as vault. At minimum Teodora should have won AA bronze and Floor silver, imo.
Ive never seen this before. I adore Nadia, but I am a bit confused. This routine actually looks more difficult than Nadia's .... Why is Nadia the winner...is anyone an expert who can tell me?
In addition to 2 back handsprings in a row, Nadia did a side aerial to back handspring series and also a front aerial, if I remember correctly. I think her dismount was a layout double twist, so her difficulty level was quite high(especially for 1976).
@@objetivista686 Why so mean to me sis? I wanted to know if you were a top or a bottom to see if we were compatible!!! Definitely. Teodora should have won the silver outright. This was a great routine with good difficulty for the time. Olga Korbut had a misjudged dismount, and she left out her tuck back.
She deserved bronz all around over Tourischeva, silver on beam and gold on floor. Have you noticed Comaneci dind't even watched her or congratuyated her, never a very a sportships gymnast
Well, Nadia was the next one to go, if I remember correctly--I'll give her benefit of the doubt and assume she was trying to prepare. She did have great respect for Teodora's talent--she surprised quite a few folks at the time by saying that it was Teo, not the Russians, who was her toughest competition.
Nadia said during the "Nadia, From Romania With Love" CBS special that in her opinion, Teodora should have won the floor gold. Back then they were childhood best friends and very supportive of each other. They were just different personalities, especially on the competition floor. Nadia was quiet and reserved, Teodora was always smiling and gregarious. And to this day, they remain great friends.
It was NOT 'simple and easy' in 1976. 🙄 In Teodora's era, the beams were made out of wood, with just a leather covering over it, and they were NOT spring loaded like all of today's gymnastics apparatus. For her time, Teodora's difficulty was more than enough, and scored out of a 10.00. She included a REAL front handspring, a blind element, with actual flight in her routine. Many of today's gymnasts perform something that they call a 'front handspring' on the beam, when in reality they're just doing a fast front walkover with no flight and hand or foot support throughout.
A criminally underrated gymnast.
Agree.
Totally agree !
Teodora and Nadia were the most elegant gymnasts. Just beautiful to watch.
Teodora made backward walkovers look effortless and playful.
Poco se habla de ella, eclipsada por Nadia sin embargo es excelente dignas representantes de Rumania...🌹
She is affectionately remembered by gymnastics fans of her day. ❤
I remember Nadia saying that Theodora was just as good a gymnast as she (Nadia) was.

Excelente gimnasta!!
Que belleza esto si era elegancia
Verdad, Berenice, hoje só força e acrobacias
Muy x su rutina aun para la época

Her floor exercise was amazing, and she didn't qualify for the finals for that? Wow!
Her routine was beautiful
she deserved gold on floor

Gran ejercicio.
Eine 10.
Such gorgeous BHS technique. Was she the first to go off the side like that?
Olga I orbit did a similar dismount 4 years earlier in 1972
Ive never seen this before. I adore Nadia, but I am a bit confused. This routine actually looks more difficult than Nadia's .... Why is Nadia the winner...is anyone an expert who can tell me?
Nadia's routine had more difficulty, two aerial elements (one in combination) and a double twist dismount.

Nadia was more a midiatic phenomenon than anything. This routine seems had any mistakes.
Are you a top or a bottom?

Gold on FX? No. Nelli has more difficulties and better choreography
@@marwahussein666 better coreography? Kim 76?

She could have done more here. Looks to simple n easy for her cuz it IS, kinda like college gym today on beam.... way short now n easy
