CHEAT EXPLANATION: Spies have a backstab cheat which is sometimes called "backtrack", it looks at all the recent tics (66tics/sec in casual) within the lag compensation limit and looks for tics where the spy COULD backstab you, then sends those tics to the server. Its a sort to time travel and its why sometimes spies jitter around. The cheat client SENDS data TO the server slowly (on purpose) but RECIVES data FROM the server ASAP which helps give an even bigger window for the cheat to work
Yea ive seen a lot of 'totally bullshit stab' clips and this is one of the first ones that is ACTUALLY bullshit looking. Its either a cheat or some huuuge ping issue.
I’m a spy main. That spy is either cheating or interp abusing. The giveaway is that you passed behind him before he stabbed you, meaning that he never saw your back.
Any interp abusing can also just be explained by ping usually, since it’s unfortunately possible for him to be much farther up than he looks. Not the case here, but it’s important to keep in mind.
I’ve seen many comparisons of wgat it looks like different screens, one is tracking the spy “perfectly” while the other already had his back basically, what you see on the screen is bot what the other guy sees or he has 30.3 lerp (a good lerp) which in just rare occasions might cause facestabs) or just facestab cheats
@@kuzyera depends. if he stopped or bumped on something invisible then it's clearly interp, or if he turned around for the hitbox its also interp, for backtrack it's like facestab cheats+, because you go through the backtrack model, and then you can get a backstab easily
The fact he failed the stab makes me think the facestab was on accident but then he confidently walks away that makes me think this guy might be cheating
or just backtrack, this guy was in a spot where he left his back open for the spy’s cheats, basically a ghost from 800ms max that you can shoot, and it will deal damage to the player
@@z3us4027 Sigsegv spy knife Go look it up chief. Melee has NEVER used hitboxes. It uses COLLISION HULLS. This is true for *ALL* melee weapons. Hitboxes are what you hit when you shoot a gun. Collision hulls are what you hit when you shoot a rocket/projectile/melee
@@suntzu6122 Doesn’t the clip where shown, he uses green and red lines to demonstrate what a backstab is or isn’t, basically just shows you the side hitbox? It’s always been split in one and everyone uses the term “hitbox” for spy’s melee.

Your client can send all the specific packets for a backstab it wants, the server isn't going to accept them.

apparently you can fuck up backtrack by not moving and only slowly tracking the spy with your mouse

Imo Interp abuse is still cheating. Sure it doesnt require an external program, but it breaks the game to give an unfair and unintended advantage

He might have used backtrack because he left a spot open for the backtrack to expose his back, it goes up to 800ms
