Beta Thalassemia minor the beta gene is not deleted but mutated which results in reduced production of the beta globin chain

I have a question, in the beginning we said that B thalessemia was due to point mutations and Alpha thalassemia was due to gene deletions, then we say e.g B Thal minor is due to one gene deletion. So it's deletion of genes? Thank you so much for the videos, you are very helpful!
