Was just about to ask the same question. Surely there should be a ventilation system. I know people like the Stradman had to have that fitted in his garage, maybe an American thing.
One of the worst things you can do to an engine, start it and just let it sit idling. Always start it and move off asap to get the oil moving around everything and warmed up as soon as possible. Sorry to sound negative, but half the reason bore score happens on Porsches, even worse when it is winter.
