    Thanks for the video. I was worried about getting a gas RV because of the noise and heat but now I think we can go that route and just do what you did. Thanks!

      I didn’t get a temperature gun to after I was done. It was very hot before Insulation.

    Slick install. I would have been fighting with a full sheet. Love the template method. We have the identical rig for just over a year now. Definitely going to give this a try. Question: at the end of the video, were you insulating elsewhere? I can't quite make out or picture the engine compartment with the doghouse off. Thanks for posting and happy travels!

    I love your modifications to the RV. I plan to buy a Thor Vegas 24.1 in the fall. I’m looking at 2016 or 15 in good condition. If you come across one or know a good place to go, please advise. Unfortunately, I live in Puerto Rico and won’t be able to relocate around the end of the summer. Need to clean up some finances. Thanks

    Where can I get a replacement seal that goes around the engine cover

    This is a very good tutorial, thank you. What did you use to clean the surfaces inside the doghouse? I had an RV shop replace my engine compartment insulation (inside of the doghouse) but it's adhesive failed before I even got it on the road....

      I cleaned it with spraynine. Then right before I remove the paper backing off the insulation. I cleaned it one more time with rubbing alcohol To guarantee a strong adhesion.

    Thanks for doing this video I've had my thor axis bought it new in 2016 and I'm ready to do this project what material did you use thanks for any help.

    That is very cool. Hopefully there is another way for heat to escape.

      It doesn’t change air flow to the engine compartment. It stops sound and radiant heat from entering the RV. The E-series van oem doghouse and engine compartment are insulated.

    Hi, so I absolutely appreciate this tutorial and did it today on our new to us 2018 axis......awesome! I was hoping you could take a look at an issue we have with our awning....the arm seems to get in front of the actual awing and can locate the problem. Could you take a look through video?

    • @handymanlearningrvs1532
      @handymanlearningrvs1532  3 года назад

      Yeah I’ll take a look at it to for you. My email address is handymanlearningrvs@gmail.com

      That’s so nice of you....I actually called carefree and got the service manual that showed how to adjust the arms and that helped......I will ask though. Does your slide leak a all?

    Did I interpret the Db reduction correctly? Before insulation 87 Db and after 37 Db? Incredible!!

    • @handymanlearningrvs1532
      @handymanlearningrvs1532  4 года назад +4

      Hello the 87Db is with doghouse engine cover removed.
      It was 66Db with doghouse engine cover on before insulation and 37Db after insulating.

    Hi,
    We loved your video and bought what you suggested on Amazon.
    We just finished doing it but have some leftover insulation. Is there room to put 2 layers on insulation in the doghouse? Can't tell if there will be room.

      Thanks for the tip! I used noico and used two layers. Plus some strips of sound deadening. Im sure Ill have the same results as you (i hope) Have you done the floor yet? I bet that would also make a huge difference. Im still shocked the doghouse came with nothing behind it. Horrible!

    You are measuring a sound difference with loud music playing in background? Ha ha ha! Clueless!
    Background noise (music) makes it stressful to listen to, and prevents focus. DIY videos should never have music as a rule. Good solution and modification, that was ruined with the excessive noise of music.
